NW, I was just about to comment on that photo after looking at Pete’s flicker pages. That little boy is grabbing on for dear life. Not.Letting.You.Go! Kids, the elderly, heck, all of us would just love to hold on to him too! 🙂 One thing I noticed, the elderly either touch his cheek as one would with someone close to your heart. Or they shake his hand with both of theirs. Or just plain kiss his hand! Little kids just hug both POTUS & FLOTUS, real tight! And are just plain comfortable with them.
I notice that he is respectful of the elderly even though he is President. His grandparents and his mother must have instilled this in him very early. His inmate humanity draws people to him. That is not something you can manufacture.
Indeed!
This is my favorite one in the group.
PRECIOUS INDEED!
I’m waiting for Mark Kirk (IL-liar) to say he ‘voted yes’ to end CU, when he only voted to allow debate and filibustered the actual vote.
Love this set, NW! Good vibes all around him.
People just adore him.
Pete Souza is a genius at illuminating the humanity of the Obama Presidency! So many treasured pictures, but that top one is my current fave!
Jovie this is where Rover is now!

So it was really not a joke?
Stay classy, Palin.

No wonder McCain has been so unhinged lately – with the MSM trying to rehabilitate his image. His legacy of Sarah Palin has become the world’s biggest joke….
Can’t wait until TMZ gets the video….who ever has video is gonna get some big bucks.
[LOL! LOL! This just cracked me up 🙂 ]:
It’s something to hear when Sarah screams, “Don’t you know who I am!” And it was particularly wonderful when someone in the crowd screamed back, “This isn’t some damned Hillbilly reality show!”
WHY DOES THIS NOT SURPRISE ME?
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/apnewsbreak-us-sharply-cutting-deportations-25434627
President Barack Obama, who has postponed until after Election Day his plans that could shield millions of immigrants from deportation, is already on pace this year to deport the fewest number of immigrants since at least 2007.
According to an analysis of Homeland Security Department figures by The Associated Press, the federal agency responsible for deportations sent home 258,608 immigrants between the start of the budget year last October and July 28 this summer. During the same period a year earlier, it removed 320,167 people — a decrease of nearly 20 percent.
Over the same period ending in July 2012, Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported 344,624 people, some 25 percent more than this year, according to the federal figures obtained by the AP.
The figures, contained in weekly internal reports marked “Official Use Only,” reflect the marked decline in deportations even as Obama has delayed announcing what changes he will make to U.S. immigration policies. Immigration advocates widely expect Obama to reduce the number of immigrants who are deported, a particularly sensitive issue in many states. Since Obama took office, his administration has removed more than 2.1 million immigrants.
THANK YOU, Nena! Let’s help spread the word. I’ve gotten a number of Latinos following me in the last couple of weeks and they’re great at RTing this kind of thing.

Earth’s ozone layer on track to recovery, scientists report
Every time I see the way people react to the President, I wonder, what planet are the msm and pollsters on?? Seriously, regular people like POTUS. Who can even believe the low poll numbers, or the talking heads trying to convince themselves that every hates PBO.
Sort of like in ’08 when we saw huge crowds for Obama and empty chairs and smaller crowds for McCain yet the polls told us McCain was more popular.
Lovely pics and stories from yesterday and today. Nice to balance the horrific memories with heartwarming photos from Pete Souza. Nerdy, you really know how to make a mini story out of a picture.
Thanks, Vetivera24,
Ha. Here’s a guy who takes credit in advance. Hey, at least he’s “goes along.”
It was phrased very inartfully, but the article is excellent.
Glad it was excellent. I hadn’t checked it out, but I will! I follow that guy, and I’m pretty sure his head’s in the right place.
Excellent article and it mirrors pretty much what I have been saying. I always knew Eichenwald was a brilliant man.
I loved the way he wrote it.
Sometimes you accidentally look at the comments section on some link … and just want to pull the blanket up over your head. So many people are heartless and cruel. I try not to wish bad things on people, but am a tiny bit comforted that Karma’s a bitch.
I need to keep repeating to myself: “There’s an endless supply of paint.” As we all do!
They really need to turn these comment sections off or sanitze them better. No one learns anything from these idiots who only spew filth.
^^^ THIS!

Would a remnant force of U.S. soldiers have stopped the rise of a new Sunni insurgency, led by jihadists, under the divisive Maliki regime? That seems a doubtful assertion, no matter how often or how angrily McCain says so. What seems considerably less arguable, however, is a simpler thesis: Without the invasion of Iraq, ISIS would never have been spawned.
————————————-
Problem is, people will ignore the year and that this happened under Bush and just use it to criticize PBO’s administration.
Jackie has tweeted her awesome idea for GOTV.
Thx, Meta. I couldn’t even find it after I posted it. You’re amazing!
No, you are! Thanks for posting. I’m going to keep bringing up this idea over the next few weeks.
Stay on this! We are doing Salsa events for voter registration here. It is bringing people out & getting them registered.
And so it begins.
WTF was she doing with a GUN at a SCHOOL?
I believe that Utah is one of those states that stupidly thinks that a teacher having a gun in the classroom is a good thing. W.T.F.
Thank God she shot herself. and didn’t kill or hurt anyone else.
see…
So Cruz also walked out?
Hmm? Cruz just can’t handle Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooos by righties?
Well……it took over 72 hours of endless loops?
Wow…..Now finally, some common sense?

ESPN…..CNN….ABC…..Fox…..thus far.
I still haven’t seen the tape.
It’s beyond disgusting.

THank you, Bob!
Oh, Nerdy, these are wonderful photos. If I met Pres Obama I would be like the white-haired woman at the Charcoal Cafe. I would just love to pat his cheek and tell him how wonderful I think he is. So uplifting to see POTUS and FLOTUS with people. There is so much love there going both ways.

McCain further shreds what is left of his credibility:
Still a tad sketchy, but we’re getting closer to a confirmation:
Anchorage Police Department provides an update and case number for the throw down at the hoedown.
http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2014/09/anchorage-police-department-provides.html
“throw down at the hoedown”
hahahahahahahahahaha
Now just what would the right wing haters be saying if this was the Obama clan?
John McCain you are the one to thank for the Palin clan, well I don’t know if thanks is the right word, I’m sure it isn’t.
But that obama guy he’s…
One thing I’m finding exciting is the people who really do understand the Iraq/Syria/Saudi/ISIL situation and that they also understand Pres Obama and what he is doing. Once again I am so impressed with POTUS’ ability to understand and craft amazing strategies that deal with complexities there and also what he has to deal with here with the GOP and American people who want a simple solution. I couldn’t summarize this excellent article, but it’s well worth a read. This is my take: the region has been in turmoil of one type or another for hundreds of years. It’s been destabilized and is coming to a new balance. It’s up to them to create the type of government they truly want. Neocons in the US can’t handle their own feelings so when they panic they want to control and there is no frigging way we can control what is happening. But we can be a stabilizing force for as humane a balance as possible and give them a chance to work it out. I am so excited about our President! I feel like he understands the forces at work there and sees ways to apply pressure to the change that is happening, while still giving them the space to determine their own future. He is telling them it is up to them. As always I am so impressed with Pres Obama and thrilled to be a voter in his time in office.
…Analysts will focus on his four-step program of fighting ISIL, but it is in the president’s analogies to his present battle that we find clues to what he really expects to happen. He says that this is not a war as Iraq and Afghanistan were wars, i.e. with the commitment of several divisions of conventional US ground troops…
…Invoking Yemen and Somalia is a signal of minimalism in every way…..
….Look at his metaphors. He is telling those who have ears to hear that he is pulling a Yemen in Iraq and Syria. He knows very well what that implies. It is a sort of desultory, staccato containment from the air with a variety of grassroots and governmental forces joining in. Yemen is widely regarded as a failure, but perhaps it is only not a success. And perhaps that is all Obama can realistically hope for….
Same article, but another tweet. I decided I didn’t explain it very well before!

how succinct.

I meant to add: Embrace it! 🙂
