I cannot stomach one hour of the media freaks.. although love and respect Jay Carney… I am sure he squared their sorry asses away. I’ll pass this forward chips.. but cannot watch it 😉

I’m with you. I completely ignore the media, frankly. They are not worth my time an effort. True journalism has vanished in America.

No, pretty much all of the frustrati in the papers, including the NYTs, and blog sites think Jay is lying. PBO is a bad man you know. He only cares about being liked by rich republicans and bankers. This is the worst boat rocking the president has had to through since the Bush Tax Cuts.

Chicken Littles all of them. They never trust the president. I cannot imagine how hard to it is be PBO. They never stand by him. They thought he gave the country away on the last round of negotiations, and it turned out he handled it beautifully. Are they ever going to stop with the BS?

Just want to say that Jay Carney did a kick-ass job in there, and so did President Obama at the beginning. It is clear that the frenzy over SS is based on a myth and a totally made-up story so much so that the press chair for that paper (was it Washington Post?) was empty at the press conference! #mediafail!

Love Jay Carney and his ability to weather these self-absorbed jerks. He’s so incredibly smart, capable, solid and has a very dry sense of humor. Brilliant choice for Press Secretary.

He really was a brilliant choice for the post. I’m a patient person, but my goodness when I watch the press briefings I just want to yell bloody murder! I have no clue how Jay hasn’t lost his cool and told them to STFU and stop asking asinine questions. I love when he masterfully zaps them with zingers when they ask if President Obama showed emotion in negotiations, if he’s mad at the repubs, why’s he not forceful enough. Then they want to know what the President said in private meetings. Yeah right, like Jay’s gonna tell them. His expression is like… WTF is wrong with you people and where in heck did you get your so called journalism degree.

Yeah! I have a lot of patience and have worked in large institutions but the problem I have is they all seem like anklebiters and dogs who wont’ let go of a bone. They ask the same questions over and over, as if Jay is going to trip up and then they’ll have their headline of the day. He doesn’t give them any satisfaction. In fact, he’ll often say, “I’m not making any news from here today.” It must pain him to deal with this group of idiots since he used to be among the same crowd. And what comes across repeatedly is his profound respect and admiration for PBO. He is obviously learning a tremendous amount and will no doubt have a great future ahead.

  4. July 7, 2011 at 5:20 pm

Thank you Chips for posting the Jay Carney presser. This was my first opportunity to see one of these in its entirety. How satisfying to witness his patient, brilliance at work. Our PBO sure knows how to pick his posse.

This is off topic but has been on my mind.

As someone who donated to and feverishly campaigned and volunteered for Governor Jerry Brown at President Obama’s request, I am pissed!

Neither Jerry Brown or his wife, California’s first lady have found the time to meet or greet President Obama or Mrs Obama the many times they’ve both travelled to California! His wife couldn’t even be bothered to meet with the nation’s First Lady at any of her public events in California, something even Repub governors and their wives have done!

Jerry Brown has not even bothered to show up at the White House meetings of governors with the President since he took office!

But now, Jerry Brown and his wife will find, no make time to meet with fucking William and Kate!

This is not only blatant disrespect but a fucking shame!

Anon, do you know that Jerry Brown and his wife have turned down EVERY invitation from the President and First Lady!

Do you know that Jerry Brown and his wife have NEVER met President and Mrs Obama!

        It ks crazy!

This President has not only been undermined and disrespected by the repubs, but by those in his own party who he helped elect!

Shame on Jerry Brown and his wife!

I think Jerry Brown was at the big USC rally for Barbara Boxer with PBO, before he won the governor’s seat. I had not given this any thought but I am glad that u called it to my attention.

        • July 7, 2011 at 6:48 pm

I’m a Califirnian. Will contact Jerry Brown about this issue right now!

Ummm…not sure what you’re trying to do here, but they’ve met several times. They had a rally, along with Sen. Boxer that had to be moved to a larger venue at USC, since so many people were coming. Photos and video of this online from last year.

Few months ago…rather than a media frenzied Facebook “town hall,” Gov. Brown met with President Obama privately instead.
          http://jerrybrownnews.com/www__Dsfgate__Dcom/_Gov-Jerry-Brown-will-see-Obama-at-Thursday-fundrai.php

Jerry has long been uncomfortable and awkward with photo ops and standard politician glad-handing. Like President Obama, and decades before, Gov. Brown focuses on getting stuff done. Jerry recently met with Sec. Sebelius about some specifics with new healthcare laws. I bet these two realize they’re on the same team, and knowing they are both lightning rods in the MegaMedia, they probably figure it’s not needed. Greeting British royalty visiting his state first for the first time, makes a lot of sense. No need to fans flames on a non-issue. “Shame on Jerry Brown and his wife!”?!? C’mon, now…

I live in California and must agree that Jerry Brown and his wife have behaved rather weirdly and abominably towards President Obama and the First Lady!!!

Dropping in at a fundraiser FOR Senator Boxer is NOT the same as showing up for and meeting with THE President especially in Brown’s capacity as governor when the president is in your State for official business including visiting local businesses – A President that is the leader of your own party!!!

Brown has not shown up for the President at any of his 3 visits to California in the past 6 months or ever – there’s always one weak, strange excuse after another offered up and only when people wonder aloud; and his wife, unlike Maria Shriver, has not shown up to support the First Lady at any event in her official visits to California either!!! Is she also afraid to be seen with the First lady for fear of the bogus media attack you invoke???

Gov. Brown obviously has an astute media team that clearly has very little desire to support President Obama especially since they no longer need his supporters to prop up Jerry!!!

This media team has done an excellent job of deflecting attention from Jerry Brown while blaming California ‘s problems not on Arnold , but on President Obama!!!

When there is an attempt by a governor of the same party to isolate and distance himself from the President and leader of his party, it IS a problem!!!

It is also a problem when they – Brown’s team, continue to attempt to make Jerry Brown look good trying to “fix a broken California ” which they strangely try to blame on President Obama!!! Whatever happened to speaking with ONE voice and doing what’s best not only for country and State, but for the party as a unit???

To your point about Jerry being “camera shy”, how strange that he and his wife have no problem showing up for a VACATIONING prince William and his bride!!! If there ever was a FLIMSY excursion, this has to be it and I’m not buying a “camera-shy” governor and wife allowing themselves to be used this way when they BALK at showing up for ACTUAL mandatory events with THE President of he united States!!!

They are on VACATION not on official business and they are NOT government officials or even considered senior representatives of the royal family which is why William is EXCLUDED from so many State events!!!

So actually bonkers, you are the one trying to put a nice face and spin on an obviously disturbing trend of events!!!

Many people I know have also commented about Jerry’s strange treatment of this President and we all cannot be imagining things!!!

Jerry was Oakland’s mayor for two terms…I never voted for him! By default I had to vote for him in 2010 (Meg was not an option). Jerry came to Oakland to line his developer buddies’ pockets. They developed prime real estate with buildings no one can afford (mostly residential). We are left with a city that has no commerce…(most) businesses won’t come here because it cost too much (fees up the booty). Jerry is a wolf in sheeps clothing!

Puddin, my colleague who lives in Oakland thinks Jerry is racist; That was a shocking assessment in my opinion and angered me when my colleague said it at the time!!!

Do you agree and do you think that this is why he has treated President Obama and the First Lady so shabbily where he is now jumping to go out and greet the young vacationing royals???

Early on, I wrote a letter to the White House commending them for picking Jay and how patient he is dealing with the press. I noted that it was ashame that the press lacked critical thinking skills to understand what good jouranalism is. I love Jay and yes, he is brilliant.

‘He’s told them what he has told you and the American people…. The message here is really not very complicated …’ Jay Carney 😆 😆 😆

I really laughed out loud at this, particularly at the very calm, inoffensive way in which it was said. (Take that, you idiiot reporter!) I didn’t plan to listen to this, but after the President spoke, Jay’s calm, precise, unafraid handling of the mob was impressive, so I kept delaying cutting away.

Isn’t it funny? Al sharpton is the only one on tv I can listen to and he is black!

Maybe we should have a couple more black commentators on msnbc! Just saying!

And btw: I am white caucasion 47 years of age.

I think the reason PBO is being so upfront and out there with this whole debt ceiling thing is two fold. One: he really is trying to work this thing out and streamline government and some of its programs to make them leaner, meaner and more efficient. Two: PBO is setting up the repugs so that if things fall apart, he can make the case that ” see, I’ve been upfront and working with them. I made sacrifice, I really really tried to do this, but they are trying to ruin the country and when they walked away from the deal, I did my constitutional obligation by implementing article 4 of the 14th Amendment.” So PBO is smart. His game is long and he’s positioning himself and the American people to come out on top. Notice in almost every speech he’s given since last week, he keeps saying: “look, there are going to be cuts to some things that will be very hard and will get me in trouble with my base,” or “these cuts are going to be very painful, but we have to do what’s right for the good of the country.” PBO is always working on all cylinders and he’s always thinking 10 steps ahead. He’s aware repugs goal is to end his presidency, he’ll get them in the end.

Jay Carney. Impressive. What impresses me most is that he looks like he’s actually enjoying himself. He is soooo good!
