Hi Ms NerdyW! How are you?

I thought it couldn’t get any worse toady……I hate the GOP!!!!!

    • July 31, 2014 at 10:43 pm

Ben Rhodes is furious. I don’t blame him. The GOP is out to undermine our nation at every turn. JERKS.

      • July 31, 2014 at 10:45 pm

This is beyond ridiculous……Harry Reid should keep them all here until they allow votes or UC them all….. Only time he will have the leverage before a new Congress.

      • July 31, 2014 at 10:56 pm

This is the goal of the GOP to have a government that does not function….

Agree, PF58, that’s the GOP goal.

But this is foreign relations, that ONLY the federal government can engage in.

It’s like the GOP have ingested one of Alice’s pills (reference: White Rabbit, Jefferson Airplane).

They are not making sense, they can’t justify their votes to anyone who doesn’t believe the earth is flat.

Hoping ALL GOP reps are on the hot seat next month, while the First Family enjoys their summer vacay, belatedly celebrating PBO’s birthday.

Never seen anything like this. And yet MSM act like this is business as usual.

And where is the breathless reporting about the ‘optics’ of Senator Enzi blocking these critical ambassador appointments? He clearly has contempt for President Obama, the American people and the media. But according the Chuck Todd, if President Obama had just schmoozed with Enzi on a regular basis, he would not be acting so recklessly now. /snark/

      Thanks, LP.

So far, it seems to be a good choice. Hopefully, he’ll work hand in hand with President Bill Powers and push back against those willing to destroy educational opportunities for students all in the name of money.

NEW DELHI — The United States and the United Nations announced a 72-hour humanitarian cease-fire in the Gaza conflict early Friday, a diplomatic bolt-from-the-blue that will suspend the bloody 24-day military campaign and set the stage for arduous negotiations between Israel and Hamas over a more lasting truce. The announcement, made in the middle of the night in India with no warning by Secretary of State John Kerry, and also announced by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York, attested to the complexity of the negotiations. But it appeared to be more significant than a shorter cease-fire that fell apart. This time, Israeli and Palestinian negotiators will head to Cairo for formal talks on how to end the conflict, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,400 Palestinians and 64 on the Israeli side….

    https://twitter.com/abumuqawama/status/495029142010613760

….“We urge all parties to act with restraint until this humanitarian cease-fire begins, and to fully abide by their commitments during the cease-fire,” Mr. Kerry and Mr. Ban said in the statement. The announcement amounted to a striking reversal of fortune for Mr. Kerry, whose efforts to broker a seven-day cease-fire a week ago were rebuffed by the Israeli cabinet, though it did accept a 12-hour humanitarian pause last week and even renewed it for another day until Hamas balked. Mr. Kerry came under a hailstorm of criticism across the Israeli political spectrum and from supporters of Israel in the United States for pushing a deal which many Israelis said was tilted in favor of Hamas.

But Mr. Kerry kept at it, American and United Nations officials said, even as he was making the first visit of a senior American official to India since the election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr. Kerry made dozens of phone calls to the Israelis and Palestinians, as well as to Egypt, which has hosted envoys of both sides, and Qatar and Turkey, which have ties to Hamas. Mr. Kerry alluded to his efforts on Thursday, thanking the Indian foreign minister for allowing him to interrupt his discussions here for “a number of must-do phone calls.” A State Department official estimated that Mr. Kerry had made 100 calls in the past week. “It’s the package deal that Kerry has been working on for two weeks,” said Martin S. Indyk, who served until recently as special envoy for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. “Both sides have accepted it and the follow-on negotiations, and both sides seem to prefer that to continuing the conflict. This one should hold.”….

…Nailing down the truce was tortuous, officials said. Each time one party proposed a change, it had to be presented to the other. In the case of Hamas, Mr. Kerry had to communicate through Qatari and Turkish officials, who are the key backers of Hamas. The agreement was not completed until 2 a.m. on Friday in New Delhi, an hour before it was announced, officials said. The cease-fire will take effect at 8 a.m. local time in Gaza and Israel. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. Kerry described the agreement as a “lull of opportunity” and said that there were no guarantees that the truce would be extended. “It is up the parties, all of them, to take advantage,” he said…….continued

I hope Netanyahu changes course but I trust this man as much as I trust Assad or Putin. Blame Hamas isn’t going to fly in my book. Hope President Obama and John Kerry can reach to this mad man. Time will only tell.

      When does this man sleep?

I know he’s probably got a bed on his aircraft, but he’s dealing with so many and fast-moving crises now.

Stay healthy, John, the world is counting on you and President Obama.

Infuriates me that the MSM fallback position is that “the US role in global affairs is vastly diminished.” They should pay attention to who the leaders of the free world look to during times of crisis.

Stellar day for tweets, thanks NW.

My favs are @jonfavs #coleslawgate — does Fox News realize that any sane person would think WTH, maybe the other “scandals” were manufactured too?

OT, but saw this (sorry, most NJ folks are in bed now) and could not believe that the media fav Chris Christie would bully, then insult a 17-year-old girl. How can New Jersians (correct term?) admire him?

I know why Katie Perry didn’t perform to much, because with so much going on in the world the WH didn’t want to seem like they were there parting. Cause you know the media and the GOP would have said something. My opinion of why she only song one song. I could be wrong.

I suspect “enzi staff” just realized which countries the ambassadors were heading to, including Russia … since none of the RWNJs or their staffers appear to have what one might call “a grasp.”

I hesitated to read the Milbank column — another snide, snarky, smug pundit — but the NC story is one that the MSM should be reporting on — about how rural hospitals are being forced to close in those states where the Governor has rejected Medicare funding.

MSM should really call attention to this travesty and report on those comparisons of the US versus third world countries re: access to medical care.

And too many GOPers – governors and house members are blaming Obamacare for closing their hospitals. These folks MUST be voted out of office

I love all those tweets but the one that interests me is the one with the richest folks by state. We live just down the street from Dennis Washington. They have many more homes now but we use to see them all the time.

Today has been a crazy day. I so agree with Bobfr, and the other tweets, we must get out to vote in November. We can’t allow the Repubs to ruin this country, this is so embarrassing.

Not confirmed but Chemi Shalev is claiming that there is unofficial agreement that the Rafah gate between gaza and Egypt will be opening. He has said this before and been wrong so take this potentially very good news with a grain of salt.

I’m pretty excited about the GOP lawsuit against the administration because it turns out they are coming into my little world of trial law. There are rules and case law here that govern how to deal with ridiculous law suits like this one.

They even provide for getting rid of lawsuits before the GOP can ask a single question or demand a single document or hold a single deposition.

Turns out that, unlike State courts, Federal courts have limited jurisdiction. There must be a certain amount in controversy or have a unique Constitutional question.

So I feel pretty good about this thing going away in a big damn hurry…..
