This CBO Report Is Another Big Win For Obamacare

Business Insider: This CBO Report Is Another Big Win For Obamacare

More than 12 million people will gain health insurance under the Affordable Care Act this year, according to new projections released by the Congressional Budget Office Monday. And millions more stand to benefit from the law over the next decade.

At the same time, the law’s costs to the federal government are shrinking. According to the new projections, the federal government will spend more than $100 billion less on Obamacare’s coverage provisions through 2024 than previously projected. That includes a downward estimate of about $5 billion this year. Overall, spending on the federal and state insurance exchanges are projected to cost 14% less than originally forecast.

Congrats Cindy! 🙂 Morning or lunchtime? 🙂 I thought I posted a Howdy! but I don’t see it anymore. My pop up notice said I had an email from 3ChicsPolitico but it was for TOD. Have I gone bonkers or is it my iPad? Update pop-ups for Horizons or Smartypants say they are from a flower photo blog I follow. This started a day or two ago. Sometimes I wonder if the surgeons rearranged something in the central nerve in my eye to my brain. Also I notice a change on the side column of the page, but Mike or sure what it is. . .

        HAPPY MONDAY CAROLMAEWY!!!!!

        {{{{{{{{{Blessings and speedy healing CAROLMAEWY}}}}}}}}

How are you my friend? How is the healing coming along? I hope that you have followed the doctor’s orders : (

Wishing you nothing less than good health and a full recovery “REAL SOON.”

        Warmest Blessings!!!! : )

Thank you so much Cindy. Appreciate your kind thoughts. My eyesight is coming back in my rt. eye. Yesterday I realized when I opened it the top half can see fairly well. I’m in bed most all the time, sitting or laying down. What used to be just gray/black is now in color in the top half. When I look out my East window I can see fairly straight frames and the blue of the curtains. Thankfully it’s a beautiful sunny day, about 40F and the light snow we had late Sat is melting. Hubby finally saw leaves of the 100 crocuses he planted for me last fall poppy up in the lawn area. I was giving up hope. The crocus I’ve had for a few years in a flower bed have been blooming in beautiful yellow for at least a week and spreading like they should. I have had other health issues related to an allergic reaction to a change in a medication but the worst seems to be over. I have about 600 unread emails and unread FB posts so I think I’m being good following docs orders. Doc Hubby is strict with me on that. He’s tired of being my nurse but he’ll survive. 🙂 Have a great day!

Everything’s blooming just in time for you to be able to see and enjoy.

Saw some crocuses try to come up here in Chicago. I bet they’ve hightailed it back into the ground since we’ll have freezing temps tonight.

In the Dark Ages when I was still single, I dated an airline pilot. He used to say of Chicago weather: “I had a three-day trip and I missed spring.”

            • April 14, 2014 at 2:06 pm

🙂 Many states have similar quotes about their weather. It’s wonderful knowing that! I hope I don’t have to have too many prescription changes in new glasses. Contacts are out. .
So happy I don’t need to worry my insurance dropping me, no lifetime limit, Thank you PBO and all who helped! 🙂

Will you need interim prescriptions before everything stabilizes?

                • April 14, 2014 at 2:16 pm

No, it was a prescription having nothing to do with my surgery. My regular doc changed it when I had my pre-op days before surgery. I wasn’t thinking straight and didn’t read up on the medication or side effects. It’s something I’ve always tried to do since the easy access of computers to the info. I see him late this afternoon for a recheck.

Thank you so much for the update. You will remain in my prayers for your healing and recovery. The colors are springing up….I bet they are beautiful. Keep following the doctors orders, and Dr. Hubby orders, and you will be there sooner than you expected.

Everything else can wait…….our sight is precious : )

Have a wonderful and blessed Monday!

I have to download a photo, post it to Twitter and then share it here: Mr. 57 piled all the dog toys in the little dog bed in the living room so he could vacuum. And there was Pearl this morning – she had burrowed herself a little nest, barely disturbing the toys and there she was right in the middle, ‘cuddled’ with all the toys

So precious, I can’t stand it!

Joan is a great friend – I love her to pieces. She loves holding Pearl – Pearl is so comforting. Gabi sees us from the front window and she goes crazy! A nice way to spend part of our Sunday.

They don’t even know (some of them, anyway) that they’re doing it. It’s so deeply ingrained. And it makes me sick to my stomach.

A Port Authority of New York and New Jersey commissioner resigned Monday following news of a second criminal investigation into the agency’s ties to Gov. Chris Christie, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Anthony Sartor, a New Jersey appointee, has been chair of the agency’s subcommittee on World Trade Center redevelopment, and he submitted his resignation just a few days after the news that Manhattan’s district attorney had opened an investigation into the agency’s work rebuilding the World Trade Center, according to the Journal.

In his 2011 State of the Union Address, President Obama promised that, for the first time ever, American taxpayers would be able to go online and see exactly how their federal tax dollars are spent. And for the fourth year in a row, he’s keeping that promise.

Wow. Just wow. When insurance companies can’t just cancel you, they work hard to control their costs by GIVING you healthcare:

“As hundreds of thousands of diabetics get health coverage under the federal law, insurance companies are aggressively targeting this glut of new patients, who are expensive to treat and often lax in taking medications and following their diet.

Insurers are calling diabetics when they don’t pick up prescriptions or miss appointments. They are arranging transportation to get them to the doctor’s office and some are even sending nurses on house calls in an effort to avoid costly complications that will have big impact on their bottom lines.”

Georgia Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn raised $2.4 million in the first three months of 2014, bringing her total haul to $5.7 million since she declared her intent to succeed retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.).

The first-quarter number is an increase from that of the previous quarter, when she took in $1.6 million. It also significantly bests the totals of her GOP opponents who have put out their numbers: Rep. Jack Kingston (Ga.) brought in $1.1 million in the first quarter, while Reps. Paul Broun (Ga.) and Phil Gingrey (Ga.) both raised just over $300,000.

Lt. Col. Bateman, who posts over at Charlie Pierce’s place writes something the evrybody should read. It is frightening the level of intimidation that the gun nuts will stoop too. It is imprtant that those for reasonable regulations stand together.

    http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/bateman-guns-death-threats-041414

A brief excerpt (read the whole thing):

After my essay two weeks ago, in the wake of the most recent Fort Hood shooting, an adult man stalked my Facebook profile and then attempted to “friend” my teenage daughter. Go ahead and scroll down through the comments from that essay. It is chilling, and this is exactly why I do not let bygones be bygones. The NRA and Vanguard News Network fuelled conspiracy theorists really are out for anybody who suggests that we need to change our policies on weapons, and not only us but demonstrably our kids as well.

    But not just our kids.

Just after I posted my original essay my parents got a phone call in the middle of the night from an unknown number in North Georgia, asking if I was there. (Phone number and name, both being public record, are freely available to any who want them.) How creepy is that?

“an idiot with a gun”. I had Joy Reid on in the background as I was otherwise occupied, and she went to the press availability with the son and uncle of 2 of yesterday’s victims in Kansas. It was heartbreaking, understandably, but didn’t I hear him say that there was no reason his family had been knocked to their knees other than “an idiot with a gun”? I thought I would see that phrase all over the place, but I don’t see mention of it anywhere. I know I heard it, and that’s exactly the cause of that tragedy——-and every other fatality related to gun violence——“an idiot with a gun”.

Is Barack Obama Black? Ask the President, Chris Cilliza

Obama remarked, “The truth of the matter is when I’m walking down the south side of Chicago and visiting my barbershop and playing basketball in some of these neighborhoods, those aren’t questions I get asked. …I also notice when I’m catching a cab, nobody’s confused about that, either.”
