Chips: thinking about you and still hoping that you will drop in to say hello and to let us know how you are. If you have been lurking, you know that NW has been keeping the village open for us; it is helping us to deal with the awful reality that I know is affecting you as well. Thanks again for creating such a wonderful place that attracts the best people. You set the tone and for 8 years or so, we have all held to the spirit of this place. Hope to hear from you again.

May I hook on also? Miss Chips so much and hope she is doing well. Miss Danny too. 🙂 I don’t think any of us would be surviving this without this home. NW, can never thank you enough.

This is all so horrible and bizarre and getting worse by the day, that I must resort to humor every now and then … so please forgive me. But to the line in the tweet about doing “a stint in prison for stabbing a man in the face with the stem of a margarita glass” … that just struck me so funny because who among us couldn’t respond:

      “Who hasn’t? Next.”

(Apologies; it’s how I roll and can sleep at night.) (I haven’t actually hurt anybody personally with the stem of any glass. Promise.)

i must admit that I am very worried that physical harm will come to some of the people who are working tirelessly on uncovering ALL the players in #TrumpPutin grand plan.

my source of worry is all these reports about all kinds of type and levels of spies, thieves, and other under-world characters that are working with the homegrown demagogue.

we need to hold the investigators in the arms of divine protection.

I’ve been out all day so trying to catch up on the latest news and it looks like there’s a big boom about to blow.

One thing I’ll say is that there are many including FT that have been unraveling this for months without much attention. That will soon change.

Hope you’re in a safe spot, meta. Weather looks hairy for the Bay Area.

I’ve been seeing more and more about this Sater connection today, and all that I’ve read is pretty complex. In other words, hard to condense into newspeak. I hope for a blazingly obvious clarifier, because the public seems ready to brush off all 45’s evil deeds, as long as the libs are miserable.

      • February 20, 2017 at 12:02 am

Thanks, susanne. I’m just now reading of the monster storm expected soon for Northern California. Officials are asking people to be prepared to evacuate within 15 minutes. Scary.

I agree about the complexity. So many players, so many dark deals and so much money involved. It’s all absolutely crazy.

    Good Monday, Nerdy…TOD Family!!!

Today, we honor or LEGITIMATE Presidents — of which 45 is not one.

Pollen count is already high and it’s not even spring. Going to be a long allergy season.

  14. February 20, 2017 at 8:20 am

Major campaign finance violations “are swept under the rug and the resulting dark money has left Americans uninformed about the sources of campaign spending,” a Federal Election Commission member wrote in a scathing report released with her resignation letter.

Ann Ravel, an FEC member appointed to the six-member regulatory panel in 2013 by former President Barack Obama, said the commission’s routine deadlocked votes are sending clear signals that campaign finance laws won’t be enforced.

Bannon and Kushner seem to be his primary advisors, even at the exclusion of cabinet secretaries and positions that *have* been confirmed. Maybe Putin hasn’t instructed him to nominate for the other 515 positions. Wonder how long he can hold on to the persons who have already been confirmed.

Hmmm…don’t think 45, Pres Bannon, Stephen Miller, et al will like this….

European leaders like what they’re hearing from Vice President Pence in Brussels.

European Council President Donald Tusk on Monday said he had left his discussions with Pence feeling better about U.S. support for NATO and a united Europe.

    ——-

While Pence may be considered *safer* on the foreign stage, he is still dangerous as far as domestic policy.

no. karl has long been one of the worst republican talking point spewers, going back to his college days. he and his fellow republican moles in “the news” are just moving into stage 2 – the great unravelling from chump and beginning the rise of the “reasonable republicans.” they’ve been laying that groundwork since the kaine/pence debate and the pence/hamilton whine-fest. funny i never seem to find jon karl do any “tough questioning” of people such as paul ryan or john mccain and so on, i.e. the reasonable repubs, but my god, he was a condescending republican talking point machine and mint romney mouthpiece whenever he had a chance to question president obama:

Well…he has always been one of my more despised yappers…the condescending tone dripping from his mouth at every available opportunity with President Obama. I remember…I was just hoping, I guess….but you’re right. damn it. We’ll have to rely on other real journos to call this mess out.

I could be wrong but I really believe that Obama’s strategy on Syria will be seen as the best option. He is such a smart leader who tried to view the world and its conflicts in holistic ways but we live in a time when analysis is so simplistic that is may take some time before the majority of observers can the pieces of the Syrian conflict as he did.

        • February 20, 2017 at 1:21 pm

I think the GOP’s knee-jerk reaction was to be critical of *any* policy or strategy that PBO proposed. Once it was out there, they would not retract it, but would instead double down.

Note that they never seem to come up with a better solution, if they come up with one at all.

eh not impressed w/ Jon Karl or any other repub mouthpiece suddenly having a conscience when it comes to “freedom”.. because in this case it is all about their freedom. When it comes to things such as “black lives matter” or any number of other folk’s freedom(s) they’re either silent or in attack mode. I’m taking all this sudden “truth telling” by “journalists”/Pundits with lots of salt. Also, I will never forget their treatment of President Obama for 8 yrs- either ignoring what he was doing or attacking him & siding w/ repub Congress. Those reporters that have been consistent in their “reporting” of facts & truth are those that get my respect. I think Joy Reid.. and a very few others.

    • February 20, 2017 at 12:38 pm

I want forget that email doctoring criminal @jonkarl of .@ABC’s partnered w/GOP in doctoring a Bengahzi e-mail in an attempt to destroy f. President Obama.

“Trump Associates Reportedly Facilitated Back-Channel Ukraine Peace Plan”

    http://www.rferl.org/a/ukraine-trump-cohen-plan-russia-sanctions/28320083.html

    —–

An exclusive report in The New York Times says a lawyer for U.S. President Donald Trump has helped a pro-Russia opposition Ukrainian lawmaker submit to Trump’s administration a proposed alternative peace plan for the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

According to the February 19 Times report, Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen submitted the plan to former national security adviser Michael Flynn about one week before Flynn resigned over allegations that he misinformed the administration about the nature of his contacts with Russia’s ambassador to the United States.

According to The New York Times report, Artemenko’s plan outlines “a way for President Trump to lift sanctions against Russia.”

Artemenko also said that his plan has been encouraged by senior Russian officials.

I think this paragraph sums up the Trump victory and will be the most important and the hardest to combat
“But Yiannopoulos’s instinctive siding with the Gamergaters points to something absolutely critical for understanding Milo and what he stands for. He thinks that oppressed groups, nowadays, are the ones doing the oppressing. Accusations of sexism and racism are, for him, tools used by the powerful to silence the powerless.” ( Zack Beauchamp, Vox, 2017)
