When Supreme Leader Orange was elected, I vowed not to watch TV and to detach myself from the news.

In fact, I have been even more engaged and have become an avid “watcher” of marches and protests all over the country.

The people’s engagement and resistance are giving me hope. Hope that the folks that voted for Supreme Leader Orange are fewer than folks with good sense and decency. Hope that together, we will prevail against the radical orange agenda. Hope that Dems will grow a spine to fight against the insanity in Congress.

And, of course, all my fellow men and women at TODVille give me hope.

And they did it on President’s Day; love it! The GOP congress did everything it could to block and obstruct PBO, now we are having much of the Western world and others block 45. When the large corporations see how this shit show is adversely affecting their bottom line, they will be coming after this crew with golden pitchforks to prick their congress dogs into action.

This fool is learning that many in this country, including much of the national media may have given him a pass, but the world is larger than the US and they will and can call out his lies and his foolishness. Many have longed to put the US in its place and it is the privileged white male who is the laughing stock that they are happy to ridicule. Make America great again, indeed.

Heres a little chuckle for y’all … I used to do a little selling on ebay to supplement my income.. mostly just vintage lights. So w/ all the Trump / gop ish going on, thought I’d better get back to it, at least a bit- fearful of losing disability. My first sale today: someone living in the Russian Federation!

well I don’t put me in the photos 🙂 would never sell anything that way. But here’s the kicker on the “Russian” he just sent an email saying he refuses the item- after winning the damn bidding- because he didn’t read it well enough. Long ago you weren’t allowed to do that on ebay. So I’m out 6 days of advertising.. and won’t be allowing him to bid on my stuff again. Not too fond of any Russians today.

I used to sell a lot.. then after I moved 4 yrs ago I just got really complacent.. and I’ll use working on this house as my excuse ;). Today ticked me off- prolly because I’m already mad at Russia 🙂 🙂 nice to see ya 99.

All PBO had to do was to be himself, the man that he had always been: thoughtful, kind, brilliant, steady and brave with a spine of steel. A gifted man who focused on the talents and gifts of others; a man who sees even those considered to be the least of. The British parliament members were so happy and proud to have him address both houses that day. They would not stomach the offal that followed him in to office and I applaud them.

        • February 20, 2017 at 4:19 pm

          Indeed, CEB!

That oaf is not even capable of stringing together a coherent sentence, much less a speech worth anything. I am so glad that they voted no. He is a incredible disgrace to this country. Nothing about him gives a whiff of a president. He is a colossal nothing.

The speaker first said, “Crump” before he corrected himself. The “No’s” were delightfully loud. LOL. I can take joy instead of shame and embarrassment because 45 represents neither the majority nor the best that this country has to offer. He is a blight on our entire nation and anything that breaks him and the deplorables who surround him down, is another weapon in our fight to rid ourselves of the criminals, spies, racists, and overall unprincipled, incompetent, opportunists who think that they can lead us.

When then-Gov. Mike Pence faced the worst public health crisis to hit Indiana in decades, he turned to Obamacare — a program he vilified and voted against.

In 2015, as a rash of HIV infections spread through rural southern Indiana, state health officials parachuted into Scott County and enrolled scores of people into Obamacare’s expanded Medicaid program so they could get medical care and substance abuse treatment. Many were addicted to opioids and had contracted HIV by sharing dirty needles.

Two years later, Pence is helping to lead the Republican effort to dismantle the program that helped him halt the deadly outbreak in an impoverished swathe of Indiana.

Pence was one of the GOP governors who had agreed to expand Medicaid under Obamacare, albeit with certain conservative tweaks. He signed his state’s Medicaid expansion known as the Healthy Indiana Plan 2.0 in 2015 — the same year as the HIV outbreak.

Pence, a longtime Obamacare foe who voted against its 2010 passage as a lawmaker, has assured people in his state that HIP 2.0 will remain even if the law is repealed, portraying it as an innovative state program that he suggests is unconnected to Obamacare.

So I have been suppressing this rant for a week, and just need to get it out. When I think about how HARD President Obama worked for us right up until the very end, and that piece of shit in the WH now, it just makes me ill. He isn’t even TRYING to do the job! He just sits there, soaking it in and watching tv all day long. It is mind boggling that this is the most powerful person in the world at the moment. And frightening beyond belief. It is like watching a 5 year old play at being president, with their forts and doll houses. No meetings on ISIS, few PDBs, and those are dumbed down for him, has no idea what he is signing, it literally is enough to leave one speechless, even someone like me with a big mouth. And i am angry beyond belief. I have had to consciously step away a number of times the last couple of months to keep it in check. We–the American people–deserve so much better than this. And we had the best president in decades and all the GOP could do was tear him down and obstruct him at every turn. In one short month, we are the laughingstock of the world, and this after PBO spent 8 years getting the world to respect us again after the last GOP nightmare.

Since the election, I have ignored those who have said that he will get us all killed before he is done. I am no longer sure that we will survive this, given the GOP will never impeach him. He is an utter disgrace to the office.

On a happier note, I took my nine year old granddaughter to see Hidden Figures yesterday. If possible, it was even better than I expected. And it provided a great opportunity to have a serious discussion with her about the need to keep fighting for rights. My daughter and the other side of my GD’s family, are not into politics or protesting so it is a constant battle for me to get through to her. The good news is she seems far more interested and aware than my daughter so just maybe…But the movie provided her with good historical context to understand that we must keep fighting.

Ya know, we had the best and the brightest in this country clamoring to serve under President Obama. His respect for intelligence, innovation and science motivated them to serve in the public sector, many for the first time in their careers. Not surprisingly, those days are gone with him. We will suffer as a country with this loss.

We are becoming a sitting duck for anyone who wants to harm us; alliances scuttled, uncertainty because of an unpredictable and incompetent POTUS and staff, national protests, threats of trade wars, the media and the intelligence agencies discredited, litigation, and criminals in high places. We are turning inward so much that Russia, China, and various terrorists groups will be able to damage us in so many ways. Putin will be able to do whatever he wants and the Chinese will have sown up the resources and new markets. The hate and greed in this country have brought us down and endangered the world order. If the current misery is allowed to go on beyond the mid-terms, we will go over the cliff. Forget about congress doing anything to stop this; the GOP members have their own secrets to hide and their need to preserve their positions at all cost and the Democrats are not up for the fight; they go along to get along all too often. We are on our own with the Blue state AG’s and courts as our only potent weapons. Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but this is not a movie where the heroic journalist, intelligence, agent and rogue military operative will take on the bad guys and save us. We will have to find a way to save ourselves. The thing that I fear the most is a lack of focus of those who are privileged who are out protesting now. They have not had the experience of long years of fighting for justice. Many of the young people involved are enthusiastic now, but how much staying power will they have when the everyday needs and cares get in the way? When they realize that their lives are not going to be as affected as much, will they stay to fight for the marginalized? Will Black protesters be surrounded with a circle of protection as they march? The white marchers of the 60’s became the “Me Generation” of the 70’s and the “Greed is good” capitalists of the 80’s. Reagan was so popular with white people because he ignored Black people; we did not exist for him and many liked the idea of America that he reflected back to them. Everything is in flux; anything can happen. Let us be vigilant.
