Meeting your heroes leaves an indelible impression and makes you a better human being – if your heroes are anything like the Obamas.

    All hands on deck!
(“UN Report Says Nature is in Worst Shape in Human History”: https://www.wgbh.org/news/science-and-technology/2019/05/06/un-report-says-nature-is-in-worst-shape-in-human-history)
Sweet Harry and Meghan’s little one is born into a world of massive extinction (but we can go carbon neutral, stop poisoning, plant forests..).
–Imo in the WH we have the the worst possible regime at such a time in history.
–Criminal, purposely driving us all to extinction.
–Suppressing information and blocking data and research, killing habitats, associated rates of extinction (food chain loss goes lower to upper).
    –War on nature.
Do Exxon/Tillerson, Gazprom & Rosneft/Putin think themselves + offspring will be airlifted by magic Aliens waiting in the offing to save them?
Hello we’re not living and breathing for them to exploit with their selfish, greedy denial.

    • May 6, 2019 at 11:20 am

“Turning forests, grasslands and other areas into farms, cities and other developments.
The habitat loss leaves plants and animals homeless. About three-quarters of Earth’s land, two-thirds of its oceans and 85% of crucial wetlands have been severely altered or lost, making it harder for species to survive, the report said.
      — Overfishing the world’s oceans. A third of the world’s fish stocks are overfished.
      — Permitting climate change from the burning of fossil fuels to make it too hot, wet or dry for some species to survive. Almost half of the world’s land mammals — not including bats — and nearly a quarter of the birds have already had their habitats hit hard by global warming.
      — Polluting land and water. Every year, 300 to 400 million tons of heavy metals, solvents and toxic sludge are dumped into the world’s waters.
      — Allowing invasive species to crowd out native plants and animals. The number of invasive alien species per country has risen 70% since 1970, with one species of bacteria threatening nearly 400 amphibian species.
Fighting climate change and saving species are equally important, the report said, and working on both environmental problems should go hand in hand.”

End the global spraying of poisonous, cancerous glysophate (ROUNDUP) now in all of our foods and across our global landscapes.

“Trump Humiliates Himself In Front Of The Army Football Team By Taking Credit For Obama Policy That He Killed.”
Yep. In the Rose Garden Trump said he is “doing a waiver for service academy athletes who can get into the major leagues,” adding that those players can serve after they play professionally. “I think it’s a great idea, I think it’s really fair, too.”

    -NBC please correct-
Does NBC + others reporting Mafia Don’s “stollen” idea know that this was PRESIDENT OBAMA policy under former Secretary of Defense Ash Carter. It was DUH reversed by Mattis in 2016.

    Steve Benen:
    1) “if Mueller arrived at a “strong no collusion conclusion,” and the special counsel determined that there was “no obstruction,” shouldn’t Trump
be eager to have Mueller say so in sworn testimony for all the world to see?”
    2) “As part of a curious foreign policy, Donald Trump has already made a striking number of concessions to North Korea’s Kim Jong-un – a rogue dictator the American president says he loves, respects, and trusts. The Republican gave the North Korean leader the bilateral talks he wanted. And the international legitimacy he wanted. And the cessation of military exercises he wanted. And the propaganda opportunities he wanted.
But according to Trump, he hasn’t come away empty-handed. For months, the Republican has been quick to argue that he deserves credit for the cessation of North Korean weapons testing. As regular readers know, that boast collapsed last month, after North Korea claimed to have test-fired a new type of “tactical guided weapon.”
-w/Trump continuing to lie about it.

Update: My husband did not have the stent put in this morning. Dr. decided it best to not move forward at this time because of husband’s lung condition. He has bronchiectasis. It is non-curable, just treatments to keep it managed. Dr. wants him to talk to pulmonologist and he already has a regularly scheduled appt. this Friday. Dr. said the calcium that is in the artery has zero chance of breaking up and causing a heart attack. This will need to be taken care of, but there is no major rush to do so.

In the meantime, my bronchitis has gotten worse. I am flat out SICK! Havean appt. tomorrow with the PA at our pulmonologist office.

“As Nixon learned, Congress will not abide a president who defies its subpoenas.”
“Now, with President Trump and William Barr, his attorney general, refusing to cooperate with congressional investigations,
the Democrats in the House should take yet another lesson from Watergate. They are reportedly already preparing impeachment articles on obstruction of justice; they should add failure to comply with Congress to the list.”

    • May 7, 2019 at 9:35 am

“The subpoenas against Nixon demanded 147 unedited tape recordings of presidential conversations; a list of meetings and telephone conversations for five specific, suspicious periods between 1971 and 1973; and copies of any handwritten presidential notes pertaining to the Watergate charges. In response, Nixon asserted that the Judiciary Committee already had the “full story of Watergate,” and did not need to have further materials. He produced none of the 147 unedited transcripts that had been requested. (That bundle of withheld tapes included the critical June 23 tape that, when it was finally released, ultimately drove the president from office, and that Nixon had listened to many weeks earlier.)”

  41. May 7, 2019 at 9:52 am

Imo this is no time for Democrats to wimp out. No matter how much we love, admire, and respect them as people.
GOP will be lockstep. GOP will be lockstep! Playing to the middle is imo a dangerous, fools’ errand.
Dem candidates please have unapologetic and strong policy positions. Dems do not water anything down.
Dems in Congress please uphold the law to the maximum extent.
    -thx.

Freire: “had compiled a database of some 500,000 so-called troll or bot accounts that participated in the efforts. “Tech companies not doing enough to thwart (especially FaceBook). “The country that has received the greatest attention, though, is Germany. More than a quarter of the Russian-backed content was focused on Europe’s largest economy where the country’s far-right has successfully campaigned around anti-immigration and anti-EU messages.” (https://www.politico.eu/article/european-parliament-russia-mcafee-safeguard-cyber/)

On April 19, 2019, Chairman Nadler issued a subpoena for the full Mueller report and key underlying evidence. Attorney General Barr had an obligation to provide those materials by May 1.
On May 1, 2019, the Department missed its deadline.
On May 2, 2019, Attorney General Barr declined to appear for a scheduled hearing before the House Judiciary Committee.
On May 3, 2019, Chairman Nadler wrote to the Attorney General, asking him to make a good faith effort to comply with the subpoena by Monday, May 6, at 9:00 a.m.
On May 6, 2019, the Committee noticed a markup of a contempt citation for the Attorney General. The markup is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, at 10:00 a.m.
Later, on May 6, 2019, the Department wrote back to the Committee—proposing a meeting to begin “to negotiation an acceptable accommodation” on access to the full report on Wednesday afternoon. Chairman Nadler has asked for this exact meeting five times over the past six weeks: in letters on March 25, April 1, April 11, April 19, and May 3.
