I am severely enjoying Mitt “Believe in America…but invest in the Cayman Islands” Romney’s woes. I mean who would have thunk 6 mths ago he would be in this position. He has to be thinking to himself- I can’t believe I’m losing to this guy?

Some stupid teapot cow down in the OC was interviewed on the morning news and said, “We don’t want healthcare, we don’t want green jobs…”

The stupidity is breathtaking. You have to wonder if they even understand the words coming out of their mouths.

Thankfully, there was a lot more Pro POTUS peeps than whiners.

Okay, so I’m listening to CSPAN3 who’s rerunning Ray LaHood addressing the budget committee Wednesday, on PBO’s 2013 transportation budget. Well, once again the Bozo’s have escaped the circus and are now sitting on the budget committee. LaHood is a feisty critter and he is trying his best to herd this group back into the clown car. Next up, Tim Geithner will try and knock some sense into these people. Earlier they tried to box in Homeland Security’s budget, but wasn’t much they could do with that, since it was established under their compassionate cowboy.

I’m too ignorant to post a link, much less a link to a link, but Ed Kilgore (Benen’s replacement at WM) highlights a great article by Garry Wills. If you can stand one more comment on the contraception case, Wills’ article at the NY Review of Books blog, “Contraception’s Con Men,” pokes holes in all the specious political and theological garbage that has been thrown about by Santorum et al.

    February 16, 2012 at 1:27 pm

This Foster Fries guy that’s bankrolling Santorum is a TOTAL LOON! He just told Andrea Mitchell that women should just put a couple of aspirins between their legs for birth control. I kid you not!!

Andrea was so flabbergasted, all she could say was “I’m just trying to catch my breath from that Mr. Fries.”

    • February 16, 2012 at 2:23 pm

      no, he didn’t say that

    • February 16, 2012 at 2:26 pm

I hope that goes viral. I hope there’s video. How did this loon become a billionaire, anyway, and what do the wives of these loons think about what their husbands are saying and doing? So offensive.

I am thrilled that Andrea Mitchell is flabbergasted by the comments from Foster Fries. I wish she and her colleagues would just stop pretending that the GOP is a credible opposition party. The party is chock full of unhinged, deranged and radical people just like Fries who are bent on taking the country back to the failed policies of the Bush administration. I would love to see Andrea spend more time challenging the constant flow of lies and distortions coming from the GOP. Too often she sits on her perch and just nods her head without challenging their nonsense.

Pelosi To GOP: ‘Duh!,’ Women Should Be Included In A Hearing About Contraception

PELOSI: What is it that men don’t understand about women’s health and how central the issue of family planning is to that? Not just if you’re having families but if you need those kinds of prescription drugs for your general health, which was the testimony they would include this morning if they had allowed a woman on the panel. I think the fact that they did not allow a woman on the panel is symbolic of the whole debate as to who is making these decisions about women’s health and who should be covered.

Romney’s ‘Growing Up’ Michigan Ad Features Picture Of Mitt Atop Helipad At New York World Fair

Mitt Romney’s latest Michigan ad, entitled “Growing Up,” features a photo of himself as a young man with his father, then-Michigan Gov. George Romney (R) as Mitt narrates, “I remember going to the Detroit auto show with my dad.”
However, as Jed Lewison at Daily Kos points out, the photo Mitt uses (seen at right) to tout his Michigan roots was not taken at the Detroit auto show. It was actually taken at the 1964 World Fair in New York.

Good afternoon everyone and special hail to Adm Chips. Got a real late start today and found the following in my in-box:

Will you step up and vote in 2012? Have you been brainwashed in believing the President hasn’t done a good job for America, not just you as an individual. He was elected into a position that was already mismanaged and corrupt, and for some unknown reason it’s still the President’s fault America is struggling. I’m voting for him again…….

    Just because he is black!

Just Because He’s Black A white man asked his black friend, ‘Are you voting for Barack Obama just because he’s black?’ The black man responded by saying, ‘Why not? Hell, in this country men Are pulled over everyday just cause They’re black; passed over for Promotions just cause they’re black; Considered to be criminals just Cause they’re black; and thousands of you Won’t be voting for him just because he’s Black! However, you do not Seem to have a problem with that! This country Was built with the sweat And whip off the black slaves’ back, and now a Descendent of those same Slaves has a chance to lead the same country, Where we weren’t even Considered to be people, where we weren’t allowed To be educated, drink From the same water fountains, eat in the same Restaurants, or even Vote. So yes! I’m going to vote for him! But it’s Not just because he’s Black, but because he is hope, he is change, and he Now allows me to Understand when my grandson says that he wants to be President when he Grows up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. He now sees, Understands and knows that he can achieve, withstand and do ANYTHING just because he’s black.

Maddow wonders whether Maine GOP ‘rigged’ caucuses
    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/16/maddow-speculates-whether-maine-gop-rigged-caucuses/

“In a segment Wednesday night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow explored the murky waters currently occupied by the Maine GOP, which she suggested may have actually “rigged” the recent caucuses in favor of Mitt Romney.”

As I watched that brilliant segment last night, I said to myself no one but Rachel Maddow would do such a detailed and thorough report.

    • February 16, 2012 at 2:53 pm

there are 16 counties in Maine.

the GOP decided to IGNORE the results in THREE COUNTIES.

if that isn’t an attempt to cook the caucus, what is there?

this isn’t like Iowa, where they came up with 8 votes outta nowhere.

this is like, um, Willard is leading so let’s stop counting votes.

I noticed something in the picture of the President deplaneing in LA surrounded by SS guys as he walked across the tarmac. The guys all look a little bulky, but that’s because of the weapons they carry under their jackets. The thing is, none of them are really young guys. They must be hiring the smartest, most experienced men they can find. God bless those guys, they are keeping our future safe. I say a litle prayer for them every day.

Pelosi to GOP on contraception: ‘Duh!’
By Steve Benen – Thu Feb 16, 2012 1:34 PM EST.

House Republicans organized a hearing this morning on the Obama administration’s policy on access to contraception, and the first panel was made up exclusively of men — each of whom opposes the White House position. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was not amused.

Five men are testifying on women’s health,” Pelosi said, adding, “Where are the women? Imagine having a panel on women’s health and they don’t have any women on the panel.

    ………………………………………………………

Also note, the witness Democrats asked to participate, before being rejected by House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), was law student Sandra Fluke. She was excluded from the hearing, but the testimony Fluke was prepared to deliver has been posted online.

    The Fox Swing State Survey
    By Ed Kilgore

In a week of very good news from the pollsters for Barack Obama, this has to be the best yet: a Fox News survey of registered voters in ten “swing states” (CO, FL, IA, NV, NM, NC, OH, PA, VA, WI) awarding a total of 131 electoral votes. Overall, Obama leads Romney in these states by a 47-39 margin, and leads Santorum by a 48-39 margin. His margin against Romney in “swing states” is actually better than in the most recent national Fox poll, which showed him leading 47-42.

The poll results are not broken down by individual state (except for OH), but are arranged by region. Interestingly, Obama’s best “swing state” region is in the South (FL, NC, VA) where he leads Romney 51-37 and Santorum 57-29, and enjoys a 50/39 approval/disapproval ratio. He also leads Romney 47-40, and Santorum 51-37, in the three Rocky Mountain states (CO, NV), NM). On the other hand, Obama is shown as weaker in the Rust Belt states (IA, OH, PA, WI) than he is nationally, leading Romney 43-42 and tying Santorum 43-43. And in OH, the poll has Obama actually trailing both Romney (38-44) and Santorum (40-43).

To a chattering class used to thinking of Ohio as the ball game, these results may seem at best mixed for the incumbent, or even ominous, and certainly that’s how some Republicans will likely spin it all. But if Obama is actually romping in southern swing states, you have to figure he’s doing especially well in Florida, and some pundits may not have yet internalized the fact that the latest reapportionment boosted FL’s electoral votes to 29 while lowering OH’s to 18 (and PA’s to 20).

    Yes, ‘some folks’ do that
For the “Gotta love it” file, from Mitt, on Detroit radio today:

The Santorum campaign went negative against me in South Carolina, my guess is they’ll do the same thing in Michigan. And you know that’s the nature of politics, you have some folks who distort and twist and you’ve got to be able to respond effectively and let people know the truth …

That’s our boy, out there fighting the good fight against the wicked forces of twist and distortion.

You know, if this presidential thing doesn’t work out for Romney, my understanding is that Baghdad Bob left a huge vacancy in the Iraq government, which doubtless could again use a man of Mitt’s rhetorical ingenuity.

    Losing Their Touch
    by BooMan
Thu Feb 16th, 2012 at 01:02:52 PM EST

The Republicans are losing the battle over contraception in a big way. They’ve lost their way on the optics. They seem incapable of anticipating our side’s tactics. And they’re making unforced errors.

This morning, Democrats tore into House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) for preventing women from testifying before a hearing examining the Obama administration’s new regulation requiring employers and insurers to provide contraception coverage to their employees.

Chairman Issa first denied a women the Democrats wanted to testify because the hearing was supposed to be confined to “religious liberty” and not contraception. Then Issa disallowed the testimony of a female college student because she didn’t “have the appropriate credentials” to testify before his committee. As a result, the Democrats walked out of the hearing in protest.
