Do you remember the uproar after the election about what kind of dog PBO should get his girls? We should have known by that that everyone would think they should be able to dictate whatever they wanted to PBO. I was really glad when Ted Kennedy gave them the Portuguese Waterdo puppy as I thought it was ridiculous when people started saying it should be a shelter dog etc. Bo has been a wonderful addition to their family. I wonder if there was a trainer involved in teaching him proper behavior of if the breed is calmer than most or if the Obama’s worked with him on their own? They could even write about Bo’s experience in the WH later not like Laura’s book but from their own perspective.

Obama Grandmama, good to see you and I hope all is going fine with you and your household. (((((Hugs))))).HZ

About Bo, I do remember seeing and interview with David Axelrod done by Candy Crowley, and David said that Bo is the most loving and welll behave dog he has ever seen. Candy was trying to say negative things about Bo, and David politely cut her off and informed her that Bo is a great behaving dog. He also said that FLOTUS and Malia and Sasha took book to training classes after they received Bo from Sen. Kennedy and Vickie Kennedy. Also it was mentioned that Bo had been given training lessons sponsored by Sen. Kennedy and Vickie before they presented the gift of Bo to the girls.

I think that Bo is the most well behaved First Dog that I have seen in the WH and he is always presented so lovingly by the President and the First Family. HZ

Our First Lady is so transcendent in beauty, charm, and grace, she has managed to win over even the most die-hard opposition. Example: My Reagan-loving, Fox-watching elderly mother. She calls the First Lady by her first name and talks about her as if they were BFFs. I get to hear things like “Jay (Leno) just loves Michelle” and “You should have seen Michelle with Ellen. They were so cute.” I just stare in wonder and smile in agreement.

      • 23 Brian
        February 16, 2012 at 3:56 pm

She always comments on our President’s “nice smile”– the highest praise she has ever awarded to a Democratic president. (Modesty and the obscenity laws forbid me to post what she used to call the Clintons.)

All of her children and 2 of her grandchildren have made the case for President Obama, making as personal an appeal as possible (as in “Why would you vote against the interests of your own family?”).

Before I might have said, “When pigs fly!” But there may be pork in the tree tops come November… 🙂

The Republican Party is having a hard time dealing with all of the “facts” that show the economy is improving. Since it is not possible for them to give President Obama credit for anything, they have been reduced to conspiracy theories. So bottom line, when the economy is in the tank we should take those numbers at face value without question. But when the economy is showing improvement we really need to question the numbers. Got it.

Conservative Echo Chamber Rejects Facts, Claims Positive Economic Data Is A Conspiracy To Help Obama

Good news is bad news for the conservative echo chamber, as it undermines the narrative they’ve doggedly constructed of the past three years that president Obama is bad for the economy.
Perhaps it’s just that, as Comedy Central host Steven Colbert noted, facts have a “liberal bias.”

    Can’t stress this enough:

#AmericaThisIsNotATest …. is not a joke; is not hyperbole. It is fact. Full scale assault is underway and the Republicans and their big money masters are totally transparent as to their intent – Crush the Bill of Rights, deny education to the majority, & accelerate the demise of the poor and the elderly (‘just die, already’ is their blatant intent).

I think the backlash will come. Right now people are in shock but they will organize. The repubs will regret engaging in those culture wars. Watch as women groups organize, comedians ridicule them on tv. Even the Villagers won’t be able to protect them forever.

You are so correct, GGail & Lovepolitics.

It is time for intense focus, by all whom are threatened by the intent of the Republican plutocrats to destroy the Bill of Rights and the promise of America.

We are the ones who will prevail. We must. No 2nd chances. This is the real deal, not a mock run, a test. We confront a declared, obvious threat to the very essence of America. Not since 1861, have we faced such a determined enemy. We are the ones who will prevail. We must.

CORONA DEL MAR, Calif. — Courting donors in Democrat-rich California, President Barack Obama devoted all of Thursday to raising millions of dollars for his re-election bid and warning supporters that a long campaign awaits.

Obama was holding four fundraisers in the Los Angeles area and in San Francisco, reeling in campaign cash from reliable Democratic donors at a time when the Republican presidential contest remains unsettled. The president was expected to raise more than $8 million from events that will take him from California on Thursday to the Seattle area on Friday.

  19. February 16, 2012 at 3:50 pm

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on Thursday sought to bring debt collectors and credit bureaus under its purview, marking the first time the often controversial industries would be subject to federal supervision.

Under its proposed rule, the CFPB would oversee the nation’s largest debt collectors, the primary credit reporting agencies such as Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, and other lesser-known consumer reporting agencies. It is the first attempt by the watchdog agency to define which businesses in the vast swath of nontraditional financial institutions will be subject to the same examination process as banks.

“This oversight would help restore confidence that the federal government is standing beside the American consumer,” CFPB Director Richard Cordray said in a statement.

Top Ten Catholic Teachings Santorum Rejects while Obsessing about Birth Control

    1. So for instance, Pope John Paul II was against anyone going to war against Iraq I think you’ll find that Rick Santorum managed to ignore that Catholic teaching.

2.The Conference of Catholic Bishops requires that health care be provided to all Americans. I.e., Rick Santorum’s opposition to universal health care is a betrayal of the Catholic faith he is always trumpeting.

    3. The Catholic Church opposes the death penalty for criminals in almost all situations. (Santorum largely supports executions.)

    4. The US Conference of Bishops has urged that the federal minimum wage be increased, for the working poor. Santorum in the Senate repeatedly voted against the minimum wage.

  28. February 16, 2012 at 4:10 pm

“Now, three years into his term, the president has belatedly responded with a much-ballyhooed ‘pivot’ to Asia, a phrase that may prove to be as gimmicky and vacuous as his ‘reset’ with Russia,” he said, adding that “the supposed pivot has been oversold” and was “also vastly under-resourced.”

Romney’s comments come as China’s vice president and presumed future leader visits the United States to build ties and urge greater cooperation between the two countries. Obama and other administration officials have pressed Xi to improve China’s human rights record and play by the rules of the world economy.

China’s leader-in-waiting visited America’s grainbelt on Thursday and discussed increased trade in farm goods with U.S. agricultural officials.

China is not beloved by the American electorate. Its trade and currency policies are blamed for job losses in the U.S. manufacturing sector that hit important election battleground states such as Ohio especially hard.

Beating up on Beijing is an easy way for candidates to score political points, and Obama’s campaign, which was expecting Romney’s attack, responded by calling him a flip-flopper on the issue.

“Today’s tough talk on China stands in stark opposition to his position two years ago, when Romney called the president’s decision to enforce trade laws against China ‘bad for the nation and our workers,'” said campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt, quoting from Romney’s book, “No Apology.”

For quite some time, there has been a consensus that the 2012 election would be all about the economy. Now that the economy is getting better, we are witnessing the GOP trying to switch the conversation to something else. Culture wars, and now foreign policy. And of course they are peddling their usual lies and distorsions, and are trying to ratchet up the fear and hate. They will fail, because they’re too transparent and people are wising up on their games. You can’t fool all people all the time.

  29. February 16, 2012 at 4:22 pm

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), solar power installations increased 67% in the 4th quarter of 2011. Of course this was largely driven by the expiration of the 1603 Treasury program, which the solar industry is working hard to get renewed and Obama included in his latest budget proposal. Additionally, if you haven’t heard (a joke for our regular readers), solar panel prices fell off a cliff in 2011.

In total, 700-750 megawatts of rooftop solar energy projects and ground-mounted solar energy projects were installed in the 4th quarter. 450 megawatts were installed in the 3rd quarter.

I call BullSHIIIIIIIIIIIIT. Really? From the CNN poll…

” Surveys on this topic tell a mixed story because many Americans know little about the issue. Recent CBS and Fox polls indicate support for the new policy, using questions that describe the new policy in some detail. But in the CNN poll, when asked their opinion of the Obama policy with no details spelled out, support was much less and a large partisan divide emerged. A recent Pew poll also suggests Americans are closely divided, and that poll may hold the key to the differences. Nearly four in ten Americans say they have heard nothing at all about this controversy.

“The CNN poll illustrates the road ahead for the White House,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “If the administration can’t inform more Americans about the details of the policy – details that some other polls show to be popular – the public is likely to split along party lines. Many will dislike the plan simply due to the fact that this is an Obama initiative.”

These bastards DID NOT tell the public what the policy was. They just asked do you agree? Oh this is pure 100% Grade A BS? Ask me a question about something I don’t know…really?

    • 95 LOL
      February 16, 2012 at 4:25 pm

      And the obvious non Sequitur

“It’s a lot like President Obama’s overall health care measure, which most Americans say they oppose even though they approve of many of the specific programs in the new law – opponents can use it against the president as long as they can keep the focus on who made the policy rather than what the policy actually does,” adds Holland.”

And they wonder why they are last.

CNN announced Thursday that it has canceled an upcoming debate after Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum all said they would either not attend or were not planning to attend.

Romney’s campaign also announced Thursday that it was planning to skip the debate, intended for March 1st in Georgia, because he would be “campaigning in other parts of the country” ahead of the packed Super Tuesday primaries on March 6. Ron Paul also announced that he would not be attending, as did Santorum’s spokesman, who said that the candidate “has no plans of doing it right now.”

Senator John McCain spoke for many nervous Republicans on Sunday when he said it’s time to “stop the debates.” They’ve turned into mud-wrestling contests, he said on “Meet the Press” on NBC, and are driving up negative impressions of the party’s presidential candidates.
Most of all, the debates have shown the complete lack of interest by all the Republican candidates in the issues of economic fairness. While the candidates argue over their investments and their complex tax returns and who can cut taxes for the rich the most, the contrast to Mr. Obama’s newfound voice on shared responsibility could not be more clear.

The long series of debates are an open window onto the failed policies and dubious values of the Republican Party. No wonder some people want to close it.

I wanted to check those latest CNN polls that you guys are talking about.

I watched the clip with Candy Crowley and Berger whatshername.

It was funny because the first poll was about the President approval rating…..Crowley said twice ”up slightly”…..from 47 to 51%…..lets say if it was the opposite…down 4 points…it would have been a sharp decline!! She is so predictable.

    This one is a joke…

Which of their policies favor the middle class:

    Romney: 28%
    Gingrich: 30%
    President Obama: 40%
    Paul: 52%

President Obama is 3rd?? After Santorum and Paul??………Stupid poll as usual but they need a new narrative……
