a president’s work is never done

Oval: President Obama spoke at a Democratic fundraising dinner last night in Rhode Island, but skipped the meal to get back to family life at the White House — including some very personal business. “I’ve got to get home because Michelle is on the road,” Obama explained. “So I’ve got to be home to tuck in the girls and walk the dog.” “And,”‘ he added, “scoop the poop.”

Politico: There’s something Jill Biden couldn’t say to a crowd of big donors from the San Francisco on Monday night: Congratulations.

Biden’s team, the Philadelphia Phillies, lost the National League pennant to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night. And instead of wishing the crowd the best, the second lady had Michelle Obama do it.

“Before I begin let me do something that I told Jill that I would do because it was too painful for her to do which is to congratulate you on your World Series bid,” Obama said to cheers and applause from the crowd at the Fairmont Hotel.

“Look, as a [Chicago] Cubs fan, I know how it feels when you haven’t seen the light of the World Series in so long,” the first lady continued. “I know. I know how thrilled this city must be so congratulations and good luck.”
