Been taking a sanity break by following Meghan and Harry as they toured Australia, New Zealand and area Commonwealth island nations. At the end he will have to echo JFK and PBO by saying he is the man who accompanied the Duchess of Sussex on this visit. Everywhere they have gone it is very clear that the majority of the people are there to see Meghan. However, unlike his father’s reaction to Princess Diana’s popularity, Harry has beamed with pride and takes every chance to say “my wife” or “Meghan and I.”
He loves her like PBO loves Mrs. O.
A lot of their work focuses on causes that are important to the Obamas as well. Meghan also mixes her clothes with couture and inexpensive ready to wear like Michelle does. Would really like to see the two couples get together. Sure Harry is eager to introduce her to Michelle (he is closer to her than PBO).
I’ve enjoyed that tour too and also think automatically about how different they are from Charles and Diana. Harry loves seeing the love for his wife.
It’s sad that his parents were ill-fated because Charles didn’t choose who he truly wanted. It’s a very good thing that the sons, especially Harry, have been able to do differently.
one more week …. and if all emphatic human beings vote …. then we can have a chance to rebuild the remnants of so many destructive and hate-filled acts;

I’ve voted in WA state. We have mail-in ballots and dropboxes…otherwise I’d try to help voters get to the polls on Election Day.
I’m very glad that Lyft and Uber have been partnering with groups to help people get to their polls. I’m really pulling for all the help that Stacy Abrams can get combatting her vile, cheating opponent.
And sending all the good vibes to Beto O’Rourke! I hope some of these polls are vastly underestimating his grassroots support. They have GOT to get these millennials out there. I can’t understand how there’s such a disconnect between what goes on in government and how people’s lives are impacted.

If you happen to watch Madam Secretary, you saw Elizabeth McCord’s powerful lecture to her teen age daughter who said she wasn’t going to vote because “her” candidate had veered from her desires on one point. Elizabeth gave the most powerful short speech on voting and why not voting is just plain evil I have ever heard. Her daughter tried to weasel out again, and Elizabeth said The polls are still open. That’s what my motorcade is for, to get you to the polls. I will drop you off on my way to my appointment.
I don’t know how to do it, but it would be great if someone could isolate that scene and put it in a tweet and send it out.

Most of family and friends have already voted; older brother and mom (89) like to vote on the official day. Trying to manage expectations to be hopeful but realistic as I really cannot afford to be as devastated as I was for most of 2017. The good news is that most of the country is not on Twitter or breathlessly hanging onto pundits’ speculations, polls, or anything else trying to predict what will happen (no one really knows). Having a knowledge and understanding of history and human nature should remind all of us that there is goodness and creativity even in dark times. That we can survive, thrive and live to make a better day.
Thank you Ceb, for that great comment. I have been going back and forth between despair and great hope. This morning I have been watching all the Golden buzzers from America’s Got Talent. Loved all the stories and music. I was able to cry and be emotional. It was very cathartic for me. There is so much good in the world. We must overcome all this hate and evil.
