The deadline to sign up for Obamacare is quickly approaching—and Nikki Reed is speaking out about why everyone needs coverage. She shared with Glamour why she’s so passionate about making sure all women get health insurance. “My experience with the Affordable Care Act is a very personal one. Prior to the ACA, my mother could not afford to have healthcare because of preexisting conditions,” Nikki explains. “…
Aside from her new healthcare policy covering her surgery and physical therapy, it gave my mom a sense of pride. She felt empowered knowing she was able to take care of herself without having to rely on others for help.” Not insured yet? Get over to Healthcare.gov and sign up before March 31st, when everyone must be covered. There will be more time to enroll in the Federal Marketplace if you had trouble with the website, but again, plan for coverage by March 31.

Well on track to exceed this goal, First Lady Michelle Obama will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, to announce the 50,000th veteran or military spouse to have been hired by a company through the Joining Forces initiative. Mrs. Obama will visit the Kansas City Southern Railway Company, which has aggressively hired veterans in the last year because of the unique skill set that they bring to the job
Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, 6:00 PM ET – Honoring Young Women from Military Families
First Lady Michelle Obama will invite young women from military families to a celebration honoring their service to our nation as members of a military family. NYT: On Memorial Day, Michelle Obama made an unannounced trip to visit the wounded at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Joao Silva of The New York Times was among those on whom she paid a call. “She came across as a kind and attentive person,” Mr. Silva said. She asked about the progress of his recovery and gave yo-yos, Frisbees and White House candies to his children, Isabel, 6, and Gabriel, 5.
Perhaps the most telling moment occurred before Mrs. Obama arrived. On learning of her pending visit, Mr. Silva made a point of putting on his prosthetic legs. “I wanted to be able to greet her standing up,” he said.
