I can’t wait for you all to see We The People! This Higher Ground project is filled with the songs and the heart of so many of our favorite artists—but even more, it’s a rallying cry for a rising generation that’s ready to take on the world. Watch it on @Netflix on July 4! 🇺🇸 https://t.co/c8N7nb01n8

Michelle and I are excited to share our latest show from Higher Ground: We The People. Some of our favorite artists got together with amazing animators to remix civics—and the result is a lot better than what we had in school. Check it out on @Netflix this July 4. pic.twitter.com/PlsSyq5pgk

Extended unemployment.
Rent relief.
Food assistance.
Aid to small businesses.
Keeping essential frontline workers on the job.
Those are the key elements of my American Rescue Plan.
Biden including a $15 minimum wage in his stimulus plan is huge
— Hayes Brown (@HayesBrown) January 15, 2021
Biden moving to abolish the tipped minimum wage and sub-minimum wage for people with disabilities in his stimulus package is even bigger IMO
The bar and restaurant industry has been gutted this last year. Making it so that when its safe for those people to go back to work that they can make an actual living wage instead of hoping their customers aren’t jerks is exactly what they deserve
— Hayes Brown (@HayesBrown) January 15, 2021
Honestly, I don’t know how anyone can know someone who’s been on waitstaff or bar staff and NOT be in favor of getting rid of the tipped minimum wage
— Hayes Brown (@HayesBrown) January 15, 2021
Also: if you’re a person who tips now and say you will stop once people make the actual minimum wage even without tips? Why? Why would you suddenly think “well, I guess they no longer did the exact same thing that would have gotten them a tip before”?
— Hayes Brown (@HayesBrown) January 15, 2021
On 1st day, Biden will rescind travel ban on several Muslim countries, rejoin Paris climate accord, extend pandemic limits on evictions and student loan payments, and order agencies to figure out how to reunite children separated from families at border. https://t.co/bPj007bw2w

Eight years ago this week, we protected young people who were raised as part of our American family from deportation. Today, I'm happy for them, their families, and all of us. We may look different and come from everywhere, but what makes us American are our shared ideals…
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) June 18, 2020
...and now to stand up for those ideals, we have to move forward and elect @JoeBiden and a Democratic Congress that does its job, protects DREAMers, and finally creates a system that’s truly worthy of this nation of immigrants once and for all.

In 2012 President Obama implemented DACA, which was the subject of a ruling by the Supreme Court today. Listen to Jaime Rangel, an undocumented American, describe what receiving his DACA letter meant to him.https://t.co/hMiaNYYpj5

Americans In Every Way
Dreamers have contributed so much to our country, and they are risking their lives fighting on the frontlines of this pandemic. They deserve permanent immigration status and a pathway to citizenship—as they are Americans in every way but on paper. https://t.co/e4IYqX3WIy

Immigration attorneys forced CBP to hospitalize them. https://t.co/Vm6Q0S9jsC
An attorney "met one 16-year-old mother whose 8-month-old baby was sick with the flu and forced to sleep outside for four days... The mother said the guards took the clothing off the baby’s back, leaving her in a diaper, and forced them to sleep on concrete without a blanket."

It is shockingly difficult for immigration attorneys to locate children separated from their parents at the border. Today I spoke to lawyers who represent more than 400 parents. They've located two children.
— Kevin Sieff (@ksieff) June 22, 2018

Some of the bureaucratic failures are remarkable: Border Patrol agents who forgot to note that a child crossed the border with a parent. Mothers who were never given the toll-free phone number where they can ask about their kids.
— Kevin Sieff (@ksieff) June 22, 2018
In other cases, children are transferred from one shelter to another, and the new facilities don't make note that the child was separated from a parent. Meaning they could be mistakenly considered an unaccompanied minor.
