I spoke with @MarsaiMartin and Ingrid Tuy, a student from the @GirlsAlliance community, about our new #GetHerThere campaign and ways we can come together to support girls’ empowerment on the #DayOfTheGirl and beyond.
On this International Day of the Girl, we stand in solidarity with the courageous Iranian women and girls who have inspired the world through their ongoing protests. pic.twitter.com/71WfEdMt9A
50 years ago, committed women and girls from around the country worked with Congress to pass Title IX and equal the playing field. @ESPN's 37 Words documentary looks into the impact of Title IX and the work still in front of us. pic.twitter.com/PavwzUuTPg
In a country as large and diverse as ours, progress can often feel frustrating and slow, with small victories accompanied by frequent setbacks. But once in a while, it’s still possible to take a giant leap forward. That’s what the Build Back Better framework represents. pic.twitter.com/ouKhRRz6qP
I’m so encouraged that the @POTUS and @VP have issued the first-ever national strategy on gender equity and equality. It’s about making sure that every single person can reach their full potential—in our country and around the world. It’s what real leadership looks like. https://t.co/muDDCBJpvD
If we want to give our children and grandchildren a brighter future, the wealthiest Americans and large corporations must pay their fair share in taxes. https://t.co/zqlZr6UpLe
Our progress on the journey to equality sometimes feels like two steps forward, one step back. But when marriage equality became the law of the land six years ago, justice arrived like a thunderbolt. https://t.co/6GxqTE8Gmh
“Today, we can say in no uncertain terms that we’ve made our union a little more perfect.”
Six years ago was a day full of justice, grace, and celebration. Hear from some of the people who lived through one of the most unforgettable days of the Obama Presidency.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought to the end, through her cancer, with unwavering faith in our democracy and its ideals. That’s how we remember her. But she also left instructions for how she wanted her legacy to be honored. My statement: https://t.co/Wa6YcT5gDi
I’m finding myself in the deepest gratitude that John Lewis and CT Vivian got the chance to become elders. To pass on the wisdom. To pray for us. Grow us. Lead us.
They chose freedom work that easily shortens one’s life. And we got to keep them for a while. What a blessing.

John Lewis could have been martyred that Bloody Sunday. Rev. Vivian could have been murdered at those sit ins.
God spared them long enough for them to keep fighting and to teach us how to fight.
I’m awe struck by the privilege to walk this earth at the same time as them.

My heart is heavy, but I am resolute.
They tread paths we get to walk. What an awesome privilege. What an awesome responsibility.
John Lewis. CT Vivian. Giants who walked among us.
And we get to walk in their footsteps.

I say we get to, because liberation work is as much a privilege as it is a duty.
So many didn’t live long enough to see themselves worthy of being free, let alone struggle for it to become real.
Walk upright, family. As they did. As they want us to. No matter the strife.

There is nothing we can’t over come.
I don’t care who beats us back. I don’t care who snatched progress. I don’t care how hard they try to wrestle freedom from our hands.
Freedom is ours. Justice is divine.

We will win.

When I saw Oprah interview Michelle Obama, Oprah asked how Michelle got over feeling intimidated sitting at big tables filled with smart, powerful men and Michelle said, “You realize pretty quickly that a lot of them aren’t that smart.” I think about that quote every single day.
