The Voting Rights Act, signed into law 56 years ago today, was a monumental piece of legislation. But with the Supreme Court and state legislatures making it harder to cast a ballot, we can’t take voting rights for granted.
This is a much needed step in the right direction of expanding access to the ballot box.
Now it's up to Congress to take action and pass the #ForthePeopleAct to stop state legislatures from enacting laws that are designed to further restrict voting.https://t.co/sdOQnQZrx1
Georgia! Tuesday, January 5th, is the last day to vote in the U.S. Senate runoffs, and your vote could make all the difference in this election. 15 days. That’s all we’ve got. If you or someone you know is still deciding how or if you’re going to vote, I hope you’ll take a minute to watch and share my message. We’ve got to get everyone we know to vote for @JoeBiden in numbers that can’t be denied. https://t.co/vS12U5kabmpic.twitter.com/jfklcsM606
We've only got 20 days to go until Election Day – and we've got to vote for @JoeBiden and Democrats up and down the ballot. I talked to @PodSaveAmerica about this election, the 2020 Census, and the role we can all play to create change in the months ahead. https://t.co/NexTlkfm7a
Obama to Pod Save America: "Basic competence can end up saving lives … You might not have been happy with everything I did, all my policy choices. I didn't eliminate poverty in America. But when we had a pandemic, or the threat of pandemic, we had competent people in place."
.@BarackObama on Pod Save America: “I think that if you continue to see the kind of systematic rejection of even reasonable compromise there, there comes a point at which you just have to change how the system works. The filibuster would be one.”https://t.co/OtE6MEfxyUpic.twitter.com/FV6uBFjPI4
