Hi! Same here. It’s an app. I kept getting prompted to switch to it when I came to WordPress to read TOD posts.
Looks exactly the same exact everything that appeared in blue on the old WordPress app is green. Oh well. 😏

Another plus that there’s a SOTU address tomorrow night is that the goofy news channels CNN and MSNBC (who can’t say anything nice about anybody, it seems) continue to show tiny excerpts from the SOTU remarks of other presidents …

… like Barack Obama! Loving that!

College Board SVP: AP African American studies course offers digital library with Coates, Crenshaw

“Last month the governor of Florida outlawed an Advanced Placement course on African American history claiming among other things that it, “significantly lacks educational value.” Weeks after the uproar from DeSantis and his allies, the College Board rolled out a new framework for the course that appeared to address many of those criticisms. The College Board issued a statement refuting that any changes were made as a result of any politicians’ remarks and were in fact decided upon last year. Steve Bumbaugh, College Board senior vice president, joins Joy Reid to explain the position of the College Board.”

    Kimberlé Crenshaw, Intersectionality.

“Twenty-eight years ago, Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term “intersectionality” in a paper as a way to help explain the oppression of African-American women. Crenshaw’s then somewhat academic term is now at the forefront of national conversations about racial justice, identity politics, and policing—and over the years has helped shape legal discussions.”

The Inflation Reduction Act is a historic legislative achievement that lowers costs for families, combats the climate crisis, reduces the deficit, and finally makes the largest corporations pay their fair share. For the first time, Medicare is able to negotiate the price of certain high-cost drugs, a month’s supply of insulin for seniors is capped at $35, Medicare beneficiaries pay $0 out of pocket for recommended adult vaccines, and seniors’ out of pocket expenses at the pharmacy will be capped at $2,000 a year. And thanks to the President’s actions, including a historic release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, gas prices are down more than $1.60 from their summer 2022 peak.

Black caucus sees State of the Union as an important chance to push for police reform

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are calling on President Biden to use the power of the bully pulpit to push for police reform in the wake of the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols, a Black 29-year-old father, at the hands of Memphis police.

“It may have been Tyre Nichols yesterday, but it could be any one of us today and tomorrow,” CBC Chairman Steven Horsford, D-Nev., said during a Tuesday morning press conference ahead of the State of the Union.

It’s about police conduct…and the way we address it is through the George Floyd Policing Act”.
“Can’t always change hearts, but we can change laws.”
“Our President leans in…I’m going to ask him to take that compassion and lean in on this George Floyd Policing Bill.”
(Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee to Joy Reid)

George Floyd’s brother Philonise Floyd on Congress members wearing AR15 pins:
“To me it is barbaric..no compassion no empathy. Please pass the George Floyd Policing Act.”

I loved the President’s speech, especially the first half where he was talking directly to the middle of the country.
