The Senate just CONFIRMED Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to be the newest Justice on the Supreme Court. She’ll be the first Black woman EVER to serve on the Court. This wouldn’t have happened without President Biden in the White House or Senators Warnock and Ossoff in the Senate.

Same…….and my R husband. Y’all who have been around awhile have read stories about him. Well, let me tell you, he has done a 180. Two days ago, he spent about 30 minutes on the phone with a long time friend trying to correctly inform him with facts and truth. From the Keystone pipeline to Bill Barr, Ginny Thomas to asking where he gets his news (Glenn Beck, for one.🙄🥺😩😠. Lord have mercy.) to sharing about the latest study done—a group of regular Fox watches were paid to watch CNN for a month. He explained the results, moved on to CRT and how real history must be taught in our schools. I know I am forgetting things he covered. Was and am SOOOOO proud of him. I know that he still has some conservative beliefs, but he’s not likely to be voting for a R until they get back to a sane group who is running things. That includes at the local and state levels. Whew! Now things have changed.
So very, very glad to see this. I recall many of your stories about how you hoped he’d see the light! You must be joyous! (I am, just seeing this!) WTG!
Thanks. However, it wasn’t all me. It was what he saw and heard for months/years, not just from Trump, but all of them. Then, January 6 happened. That was the final thing. As far as state and local, they are all crazy too. He sees it , hears it. As I said, it will be awhile before he votes R again, even though he still has some of the values/beliefs of the ‘original’ R party.

Senator Warnock marks historic day with note to his daughter
Senator Raphael Warnock wrote to his daughter
on paper given to him by Vice President Kamala Harris
to mark the historic occasion of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson
being the first Black woman confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Supreme Court.
“The significance of this moment for the Black community, especially for Black women like me who have spent decades in the legal profession, is impossible to overstate. Representation is powerful – now, Black women and girls who dream of reaching the highest levels of our government, or any profession for that matter, can see that it is possible.”
Joy Reid reporting that only 4.7% of U.S. lawmakers are Black. Only 70 have served as Federal Judge.
“Growing up I didn’t have a figure like Ketanji Brown Jackson to look up to, when my Mother said to me when I was a child, “You know, you should be a lawyer coz you’re good at arguing”. I just had to go on my Mom’s word and say “Yes you know that’s a good idea.” But it is a real thing in many professions, but certainly in the legal profession. I was in a class of 400 students in Law school and there were 5 of us, 5 Black women…just over 1% of that class. It is scarcity. I’ve practiced law in Boston and rarely came across another lawyer who looks like me…It is so important for not just – you know we talk a lot about the little Black girls who are looking up to Kentanji Brown Jackson and that’s really important – but the Law students right now who are sitting in the same space who are persevering, in her words, trying to get through. To have that image, to understand that that representation is real, is such a momentous moment. It really is. it really is an important day.”
–Kimberly Atkins Stohr, Boston Globe
KBJ’s friend Nina Simmons:
“I’m just so proud of her. As a Black woman. During the hearing, just watching her I felt her pain.
And I think many people, many who have reached out to me to express the same thing. To see what she went through. To see that she was strong, to see that she persevered. It really speaks not only to Black women but to women everywhere. Anyone who has felt out of place or not welcome, and in an arena where they are the minority.”
"As I take on this new role, I strongly believe that this is a moment in which all Americans can take great pride. We have come a long way toward perfecting our union. In my family, it took just one generation to go from segregation to the Supreme Court of the United States." pic.twitter.com/vuajmJxm7Z
