I want to congratulate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her nomination to the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson has already inspired young Black women like my daughters to set their sights higher, and her confirmation will help them believe they can be anything they want to be. https://t.co/aCwiUBFTyj
I’m proud to announce that I am nominating Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the Supreme Court. Currently serving on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, she is one of our nation’s brightest legal minds and will be an exceptional Justice.https://t.co/iePvhz1YaApic.twitter.com/Nzqv2AtN8h
As a protégé of Justice Breyer, Judge Jackson earned a reputation for pragmatism and consensus building. It’s part of why I nominated her twice – first as a district judge, and then to the U.S. Sentencing Commission, where she earned praise from both Democrats and Republicans.
Like Justice Breyer, Judge Jackson understands that the law isn’t just about abstract theory. It’s about people’s lives. @POTUS Biden has made an excellent choice, and I look forward to seeing Judge Jackson confirmed.
Remarks by Amb. Thomas-Greenfield
at the UN General Assembly Stakeout
Following the Adoption of a Resolution on Russia’s Aggression Against Ukraine
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield
U.S. Representative to the United Nations
New York, New York
March 2, 2022
“Good morning.
Today, the world has spoken with a clear, united voice. Together, the vast majority of the world has condemned Russia’s unprovoked, unjustified, unconscionable war. We have deplored Belarus for allowing its territory to be used to facilitate this aggression. We have affirmed Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We have demonstrated that Russia is isolated and alone, and that the costs will keep rising until Russia relents. We have affirmed the UN Charter, pledged to address the horrific human rights and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and stood together in the battle for the soul of the world.
Last night at his State of the Union Address, President Biden commended the courage of the Ukrainian people. He declared that the United States of American stands with Ukraine and quoted President Zelenskyy when he said, “Light will win over darkness.” Today, at the United Nations, light has won over darkness. A hundred and forty-one states voted to support this amendment*. The world, as President Biden said, “is choosing the side of peace and security.”
Now, as the situation grows graver every day in Ukraine, we must keep the momentum going. We must do everything we can to help the Ukrainian people. To hold Russia accountable. To match our strong words with strong actions. Let us continue to come together to support the Ukrainian people. And let us demonstrate the true power and true purpose of the United Nations for all.
Statement by President Biden on Texas’ Attacks on Transgender Youth
(excerpt)
“In recent days, elected leaders in Texas have launched a cynical and dangerous campaign
targeting transgender children and their parents. The Governor of Texas has directed state officials to open child abuse investigations into families simply because they have provided access to affirming care for their children. This is government overreach at its worst. Like so many anti-transgender attacks proliferating in states across the country, the Governor’s actions callously threaten to harm children and their families just to score political points. These actions are terrifying many families in Texas and beyond. And they must stop.
Today, the Department of Health and Human Services has announced several actions to keep transgender children in Texas and their families safe—putting the state of Texas on notice that their discriminatory actions put children’s lives at risk. These announcements make clear that rather than weaponizing child protective services against loving families, child welfare agencies should instead expand access to gender-affirming care for transgender children. Respected medical organizations have said that access to gender-affirming care for transgender children can benefit mental health, lower suicide rates, and improve other health outcomes. Children, their parents, and their doctors should have the freedom to make the medical decisions that are best for each young person—without politicians getting in the way.”

Last Vestiges of Russia’s Free Press Fall Under Kremlin Pressure
“Everything that’s not propaganda is being eliminated,” a Nobel Prize winning editor said as Russian authorities moved to control the narrative in the Ukraine war.
“As President Vladimir V. Putin wages war against Ukraine, he is fighting a parallel battle on the home front, dismantling the last vestiges of a Russian free press.
On Thursday, the pillars of Russia’s independent broadcast media collapsed under pressure from the state. Echo of Moscow, the freewheeling radio station founded by Soviet dissidents in 1990 and that symbolized Russia’s new freedoms, was “liquidated” by its board. “Davos Man”:
How Billionaires Devour the World & Fuel Global Inequality, Prolonging the Pandemic
As many of the world’s wealthiest people wrap up virtual talks today at the World Economic Forum based in Davos, Switzerland, Oxfam reports the incomes of 99% of the world’s population dropped during the pandemic while the world’s 10 richest men saw their wealth double. Meanwhile, vaccine profits have minted at least nine new billionaires at Moderna, BioNTech and China’s CanSino, amassing a combined new wealth of over $19 billion. To discuss the rise of billionaires and the policies that got us here, we speak with New York Times global correspondent Peter Goodman, author of the new book “Davos Man: How the Billionaires Devoured the World.” Goodman says billionaires’ championing of “stakeholder capitalism” is ruining U.S. democracy, and attributes the Omicron variant to “our unwillingness to challenge patents.”
“I’m thinking about all this, of course, because like everyone else I’m casting about for ways that we might be of practical help to the brave people of Ukraine. I’ve already suggested large-scale governmental ways to be of use—I’m glad to see others picking up on the idea of using the Defense Production Act to flood Europe with heat pumps that could replace the gas-fired furnaces that are Putin’s chief leverage against the continent, and on the idea of mobilizing government at a wartime pitch to produce needed equipment.
But many of us also want to do something ourselves—it’s a basic human instinct watching the bravery of the Ukrainians and not wanting them to have to bear every last bit of the burden.
People have come up with innovative ideas, like booking Air BandB’s in Kyiv that they will never use just to get some money into the hands of locals. And here’s a list of charities doing good work on the ground.
But since the basic support for the Putin regime is oil and gas revenue,
anything we can do to use less oil and gas also helps. Not immediately, but this war may grind on for a long time, and eventually our ability to get off hydrocarbons could play a crucial role.
The GOP, Joe Manchin, and their patrons in the fossil fuel industry think the answer is producing more American oil and gas. But that’s just dumb, in part because breathing its combustion byproducts already kills 9 million people a year (far far far more than all war and terrorism combined), partly because it destroys the planet (as the IPCC reminded us on Monday) and partly because oil and gas are a global market. In the end, anything that maintains our dependency on them is a gift to Putin.
Far smarter would be figuring out how to cut consumption here—keeping demand down would keep the global price down, denying Putin (not to mention Exxon, the Kochs, and the king of Saudi Arabia) windfall profits. And the quicker we build out alternatives, the quicker their power dwindles.
McKibben is a big f deal on this topic…incredible interview yesterday with Melber.
This may be our last big chance to make a shift from Russian O & G to clean, cheaper, energy sources, and clean economy. On notice: We’ve 7 years to cut emissions in half.
WH Chief of Staff Ron Klain told Pod Save America, the plan is to “cripple the Russian economy, not ours”. Notably GOP is pushing to stop Russian oil. IMHO while it is a beautiful and potentially historic moment for a critical energy reset and problem for Putin, am curious about the true motives of the Putin fan boys….they are pretty transparent.
U.S. job growth is off to an amazing start in 2022
Forecasters expected job growth to be strong in the early months of 2022.
They just didn’t expect it to be this strong.
“Expectations heading into this morning showed projections of about 440,000 new jobs added I
n the United States in February. As it turns out, according to the new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the preliminary tally suggests the domestic job market is even hotter than forecasts predicted.
CNBC reported:
Nonfarm payrolls for the month grew by 678,000 and the unemployment rate was 3.8%, the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.
What’s more, job totals from December and January were both revised up, adding an additional 92,000 previously unreported new jobs — on top of the 678,000 jobs created in February.
So far in 2022, the economy has created 1.16 million jobs, and that’s after just two months.
The nation’s 3.8 percent unemployment rate is the lowest since President Joe Biden took office, and is nearly as low as the 3.5 percent rate from before the start of the economic crisis created by the Covid-19 pandemic. All told, the U.S. economy has now gained back 90 percent of its pandemic job losses — and it’s happened faster than hardly anyone thought possible a year ago.
Also note, this morning’s report added that over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings point to wage growth of 5.1 percent.”
Honestly, what is all the B-S coming from the other side?
President Biden is doing brilliantly while the other side is just LYING and getting away with it.
Just stop giving them voice, ewww.

Nuclear power plant in Ukraine under attack by Russian troops; fire reported
James Acton, co-director of the nuclear policy program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, explains the risks and what’s at stake as fire is reported at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Enerhoda, Ukraine after Russian troops reportedly launched an attack.

and management is now hostage, reportedly under Russian control and at gunpoint.
Says captured Russian soldiers report receiving $500 a month in pay, thought they were doing a training exercise, and were then told to attack Ukraine.

Navalny urges Russians to protest daily against Ukraine invasion
Jailed Kremlin critic calls on Russians to ‘fight for peace’, as he dubs Russian President Putin
‘an insane little tsar’.
“Putin is not Russia. And if there is anything in Russia right now that you can be most proud of, it is those 6,824 people who were detained because – without any call – they took to the streets with placards saying “No War”, Navalny wrote on Twitter.”
““You cannot wait another day,” he said, adding that Russia should not become a “nation of frightened cowards” who are pretending not to see an “aggressive war unleashed by our clearly insane little tsar”.
Marco Rubio And Steve Daines
Jeopardize Zelensky’s Life By Tweeting Screenshots From Meeting
“U.S. Senators were asked not to tweet during their Zoom meeting with Zelensky, but that didn’t stop Sens. Rubio and Daines from jeopardizing the Ukrainian president’s life.
Rep. Dean Phillips said that they were told not to tweet:
Rubio and Daines jeopardized the safety of Zelensky so that they could crow on social media that they were meeting with the Ukrainian president.
Putin has already tried to assassinate Zelensky at least three times and has been foiled in each attempt.”
This Russian revanchist has become the most disruptive international leader of the 21st Century, the mastermind behind so much misery from Chechnya to Crimea, from Syria to the cathedral town of Salisbury. He has sought – successfully at times – to redraw the map of Europe. He has tried – successfully at times – to immobilise the United Nations. He has been determined – successfully at times – to weaken America, and hasten its division and decline.
When Obama refused in 2013 to enforce his red-line warning against Bashar al-Assad when the Syrian dictator used chemical weapons against his own people, Putin saw a green light. By helping Assad carry out his murderous war, he extended Moscow’s sphere of influence in the Middle East when the United States wanted to extract itself from the region. The following year, he annexed Crimea, and established a foothold in eastern Ukraine.
Despite being told by Obama to “cut it out,” Putin even sought to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election in the hope that Hillary Clinton, a long-time nemesis, would be defeated and that Donald Trump, a long-time fan boy, would win.
The New York property tycoon made no secret of his admiration for Putin, a sycophantic approach that seems to have further emboldened the Russian president. Much to Moscow’s delight, Trump publicly criticised Nato, weakened the US post-war alliance system and became such a polarising figure that he left America more politically divided than at any time since the Civil War.
PBO positioned an attack force to punish and degrade Assad in Syria. BUT, he required congressional approval to bring bipartisan agreement for the decision. Refugglians AND Democrats would not back the action. Fuggs because they were against EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING he did. Democrats because they were weary and afraid of foreign engagements. President Obama was READY TO GO. He refused to go DUMBASS-COWBOY by himself and do it without American support.
Trump mused to donors that we should take our F-22 planes, "put the Chinese flag on them and bomb the shit out" out of Russia. "And then we say, China did it, we didn't do, China did it, and then they start fighting with each other and we sit back and watch."
Russia constantly does this to pollute the information environment to the point where people give up on ever knowing the truth about what happened. They did it with MH17, Skripal, Litvinenko, Navalny, covering up their initial lies with a myriad of others.https://t.co/7n99vBHLlj

“It is a major festival in Hinduism, and this festival is solemn and marks a remembrance of “overcoming darkness and ignorance” in life and the world. It is observed by remembering Shiva and chanting prayers, fasting, and meditating on ethics and virtues such as honesty, non-injury to others, charity, forgiveness, and the discovery of Shiva. Ardent devotees keep awake all night. Others visit one of the Shiva temples or go on pilgrimage to Jyotirlingams. The festival has been integral to Hinduism and its origin predates recorded history, but some western indologists believe this festival originated in 5th century BC.” (wiki)

Even if his hold on power is precarious,
he can still convince Russians that the whole world is conspiring against them.

The Crucial Years
Taking the auto out of autocrat
What about a nationwide EV pool?
BY BILL McKIBBEN

Pacific Northwest court case endangers tribal rights nationwide
This is one of the most dangerous federal cases involving tribal rights in decades, yet the vast majority of tribes are unaware.
Robert M. de los Angeles
Snoqualmie Indian Tribe Chairman
“In August 2021, a Ninth Circuit decision gave federal judges powers over tribes they do not have under the Constitution – the unilateral right to ignore tribal treaty signatories and judicially nullify the reserved hunting and gathering rights of a tribe’s citizens in perpetuity. This is one of the most dangerous federal cases involving tribal rights in decades, yet the vast majority of tribes are unaware.
If you are a tribal leader, we urge you to engage, and quickly, by learning about Snoqualmie Indian Tribe v. State of Washington. Every tribe in the country should have something to say about it.”

Good Morning! Just sharing! 😁
Prayers for her safety! 🙏🏾

Go College Board!
Pro tip: When you invade somebody’s building, take the stairs, dumbass!
They could be some of the young untrained soldiers who thought they were on a training exercise,
until they were told to attack their brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Putin’s lie machine delivers.
Reports of Russians telling relatives now living in Ukraine that their soldiers would never attack Ukrainian civilians. So as the bombs are landing on your street, your Mom or Dad in Russia don’t believe the attack is happening. Due to Putin’s 24/7 RT tv propaganda.
Q: How far are away is Fox et al from this kind of information control? What is our response?
I agree with that dumbass part, Dudette!
This is all godawful stuff!
Also the U.S. can expect a lot of nasty disinformation and misinformation coming from the Kremlin about Putin’s war, with an assist from FOX et al.
Yep
And TrumpskyGopQ would like to blame it all on President Biden.
This is happening now…take a listen

Much to Moscow’s delight, Trump publicly criticised Nato, weakened the US post-war alliance system and became such a polarising figure that he left America more politically divided than at any time since the Civil War.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-60597186
PBO positioned an attack force to punish and degrade Assad in Syria. BUT, he required congressional approval to bring bipartisan agreement for the decision. Refugglians AND Democrats would not back the action. Fuggs because they were against EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING he did. Democrats because they were weary and afraid of foreign engagements. President Obama was READY TO GO. He refused to go DUMBASS-COWBOY by himself and do it without American support.
Sharing some joy & fab! Go shake your whatevers! 😇😂💞💃

For a dose for reality that Russians must see because the truth is being 100% concealed from them:
On the NYT website write now is a photo of a Mother and her 3 children lying on the ground, on their sides.
They were shot and killed, all in a moment.
FYI
thx Sheila.
Imho not hard to figure out who in the U.S. would be behind pushing for a much bigger war.
imo Putin wants a response from the U.S. specifically.
i agree…i hope that it does not happen…that Biden stays on course
Happy Shivaratri.
