Pelosi, Beatty, Adams Release Joint Statement
on Continued Bomb Threats Against Historically Black Colleges and Universities

“The continued bomb threats against HBCUs are hate crimes that must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This third round of bomb threats on Historically Black College and University campuses demands a swift response from federal and state law enforcement agencies. It is especially jarring that these threats come during Black History Month, when we not only celebrate the immense contributions of Black Americans, but also remember the violence so many had to endure to secure civil rights and voting rights.”

Federal investigators focused on rash of threats against historically Black schools

“Rep. Alma Adams, founder and co-chair of the HBCU Caucus,
talks with Rachel Maddow about the wave of bomb threats against over 20 historically black colleges and universities in less than a month.”

A Proclamation on National Black History Month, 2022

“Each February, National Black History Month serves as both a celebration and a powerful reminder
that Black history is American history, Black culture is American culture, and Black stories are essential to the ongoing story of America — our faults, our struggles, our progress, and our aspirations. Shining a light on Black history today is as important to understanding ourselves and growing stronger as a Nation as it has ever been. That is why it is essential that we take time to celebrate the immeasurable contributions of Black Americans,
honor the legacies and achievements of generations past, reckon with centuries of injustice, and confront those injustices that still fester today.”

btw, the Trump administration in February 2020 negotiated a withdrawal agreement
    with the Taliban
    that excluded the Afghan government,
    freed 5,000 imprisoned Taliban soldiers
and set a date certain of May 1, 2021,
    for the final withdrawal.

—-Trump bragged to his followers that his May withdrawal date was set and ‘nothing could be done’ to change it.
Let’s remember this when media regurgitate fallout difficulties. imo for Doom, that was the point.

‘Our Unfinished March’ by Eric Holder, Sam Koppelman

Eric Holder fmr AG, tweeted Jan 31st:

    “Exciting announcement:
For the past year, I’ve been working with SammyKoppelman
on a book about the most important issue facing our country: The attack on our right to vote.
It’s out May 10th—and today, you can preorder it:”

“I know this has been a very disappointing month in this fight.
One of the lessons of this book though is that we only became a democracy in the first place because, at moments exactly like this one, committed people refused to give up.
And that’s the task before us today.”

    “This book has three parts:
The first is full of eye-opening scenes about how the vote was won in the past; the second candidly outlines the crisis we face today; and the third details the bold, transformational policies we need to finally make America a real democracy.”

“In many ways, this book is a continuation of the work I’ve done on voting rights for three decades – and as Attorney General under Barack Obama and NDRC Dem Redistrict.
But I also learned so much writing it and I think you’ll learn a lot reading it too.”

So much love to Tommy and Hanna Vietor who are mourning the loss of their 24 week old baby girl.

“On Thursday, January 27th our baby girl arrived into this world after only 24 weeks. A knot in her umbilical cord robbed her of nutrients and us of our future together. We are so blessed and grateful for the hours we had to stare at her, kiss her, and hold her in our arms. She is perfect. Delicate little hands. Big goofy feet. Hanna’s dark hair and olive skin. We are now home from the hospital, hearts and plans for the future shattered into pieces, without our baby girl. But she is part of us, and we will love and honor our daughter forever. We wish you could have met her.”

“There may be people reading this who want to send flowers or just do something. To you we say, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, but we are OK and well taken care of. The thing that would make us happiest is if you put those resources towards helping women and parents who aren’t as lucky as we are.

    With love,

Tommy, Hanna and our sweet baby girl”

Statement on House Democrats Holding One Thousand Infrastructure Events Across the Nation

“As funding from this law has already been designated for communities across the country – with grants for bridges, airports, water systems and more – Democrats are making clear that every American knows how these once-in-a-century investments in our infrastructure will improve their lives. Under the strong leadership of President Biden, this historic achievement will create millions of good-paying union jobs in nearly every community over the next decade: repairing our roads and bridges, cleaning our water supply, expanding broadband access, improving our resilience to climate disaster, and much more.”

Great News For Democrats As Biden Gets Fantastic Jobs Report

      “The data via CBS News:
Job growth around the U.S. was robust in January, with employers adding 467,000,
surprising economists who had forecast that the COVID-19 wave caused by the Omicron variant would dampen payrolls. The leisure and hospitality sector led the increase, adding 151,000 jobs in January.
Professional and business services added 86,000 jobs, while retail added 61,000.
The unemployment rate ticked up to 4% as more people entered the workforce to look for jobs.
In another positive sign for the labor market, the participation rate — a measure of people working or looking for jobs — rose to 62.2%
…For January, economists forecasted poor numbers due to Omicron, and the numbers are three times higher than the projection, so we have reached the point in the pandemic where traditional economic models are being broken by COVID.”

About the ‘Make Murder Legal Act’ = Stand Your Ground Law on steroids:

    The Hill:
Prosecutors, police officers and local politicians are sounding the alarm about a self-defense bill in Missouri’s Senate, saying the legislation would effectively make murder legal in the state.

The bill is sponsored by Republican state Sen. Eric Burlison and was last discussed at a hearing in the state Senate’s Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, The Associated Press reported.
