    “Unthinkable:
Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy”

    Book by Jamie Raskin

Congressman Raskin’s incredible interview with Rachel Maddow on Tuesday.
Remembering he quoted “the right wing’s favorite philosopher Carl Schmitt” who said, ‘Sovereign is he who decides on the exception.’

    Remarks by Vice President Harris
Marking One Year Since the January 6th Deadly Assault on the U.S. Capitol

“On January 6th, we all saw what our nation would look like if the forces who seek to dismantle our democracy are successful. The lawlessness, the violence, the chaos.

What was at stake then, and now, is the right to have our future decided the way the Constitution prescribes it: by we, the people — all the people.

We cannot let our future be decided by those bent on silencing our voices, overturning our votes, and peddling lies and misinformation; by some radical faction that may be newly resurgent but whose roots run old and deep.”

    Remarks By President Biden
To Mark One Year Since The January 6th Deadly Assault On The U.S. Capitol

“For the first time in our history, a president had not just lost an election,
he tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power as a violent mob breached the Capitol.

    But they failed. They failed.

And on this day of remembrance, we must make sure that such an attack never, never happens again.”

The January 6th Criminal Case Against Donald Trump

Fate of voting rights legislation rests on pressure from ‘spotlight of history’

    “Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
dismisses Mitch McConnell’s suggestion of reforming the Electoral Count Act
instead of passing voting rights legislation, and explains finite amount of time Democrats have to act on voting rights legislation and his hope that the “spotlight of history” will compel all of his Democratic colleagues
to do the right thing. “

He has done a powerful and wonderful job in protecting Hungary, stopping illegal immigration, creating jobs, trade, and should be allowed to continue to do so in the upcoming Election. He is a strong leader and respected by all. He has my Complete support and Endorsement for reelection as Prime Minister!”

    Speaker Pelosi
Floor Remarks Commemorating One Year Since the January Sixth Insurrection

“One year later, this sacred space where Members legislate, children learn, visitors are welcomed, was defiled and damaged – we know that. As we reflect on that darkest day, we remember that the insurrectionists sought not only to attack the building, but to undermine democracy itself. When the violent assault was made on the Capitol, Its purpose was to thwart Congress’s Constitutional duty to validate the electoral count and to ensure the peaceful transfer of power. But the assault did not deter us from our duty, I say again, and this Capitol, a symbol of democracy to the world, that evening, the Congress, because of the courage of all of you, rose to honor our oath and protect our democracy.”

“Let us acknowledge today – as I conclude, I want to acknowledge our fallen heroes of that day, U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, U.S. Capitol Police Officer Howard Liebengood, Metropolitan Officer Jeffrey Smith, U.S. Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans, of a later assault.

    Now,
I ask all Members to rise for a moment of silence in their memory.”

“We were all wondering if we would die at that moment. I was fifteen feet from that door.”
“How many banisters we had to crawl under…
(thinking) what are we going to do if those insurrectionists came in…all of that is about the trauma of that day,
but it continues because it is clear and present danger that we’re still in.”
    (Congresswoman Jayapal on Jan 6/21)

“Anyone complicit must be expelled, there must be accountability.
this is so much more than secure the Capitol, it is about securing our democracy…ultimately democracy won the battle but the war is still being waged against democracy….white supremacy must be rooted out.
    (Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley)

GOP Deference To Big Lie Over Facts Of January 6 Exposes Scary Gap Among Americans

“Rachel Maddow looks at how the North and South viewed the attack on Senator Sumner differently
ahead of the Civil War, and how that split in perspectives over violence in the Capitol is echoed in the violence of January 6th and how Republicans have trained themselves to see it in a different light than Democrats.”

    • January 7, 2022 at 3:03 pm

Sen. Charles Sumner was the leader of the anti-slavery forces in his state
and a leader of the Radical Republicans in the U.S. Senate during the American Civil War,
for which he was beaten (seen here) almost to death.

  57. January 7, 2022 at 3:08 pm

They stormed the Capitol. Now they’re running for office.

At least 57 individuals who played a role in the day’s events — including some who were arrested on charges related to the Capitol attack — are running for office in 2022.

“Rather than disqualifying them from public service, the events of Jan. 6 appear to have served as a political springboard for dozens of Republicans who will be on the ballot this year for federal, state and local offices.”

Pundit after Pundit…reporter after reporter…have given their take on JAN 6 Insurrection and the big lie…there was only ONE person (Kimberlee Atkins Stohr) that i saw who reminded all who were watching that the motivation behind the Big Lie…and why it got so much traction…not everyone’s vote was suspect…it was only the votes of black folks that were called into question…the notion that black folks are thugs and criminals…the notion that black folks are not really legitmate…is why there is so much traction of the BIG LIE in the GOP base..

The Big Lie stokes the fires of White Supremacy…
