Delighted at the success of Michelle’s memoir which will help fund her special projects, especially for young women of color. It was a joy to hear her book talk in Portland with my OFA girlfriends and surprisingly intimate for being held in the Blazers basketball arena.

imo left with no other choice and a duty to do so, we must turn the tables on trumpQ with direct intent.
We’ve a federal constitutional democracy to lose. Not to mention due to their sense of ultimate entitlement, a species to lose.

    Governor Beshear:
Death toll up to at least 74 following tornadoes in western Kentucky

The governor said it may be weeks before we know the total amount of death and destruction, but as of now, he said there are people dead in at least nine western Kentucky counties, some who have not been identified yet. Beshear said most of the people at the candle factory were found alive.

“I said this yesterday, but there is not a lens big enough to capture the devastation,” Gov. Beshear said.

—-May we find everyone who is missing, love the survivors like never before, and halt and reverse climate change. Thanks to the rescue teams and all those caring for the injured and bereaved.

Mark Meadows Unanimously Referred For Criminal Prosecution By 1/6 Committee

      Chairman Bennie Thompson:
“But he’s hasn’t left us any choice. Mr. Meadows put himself in this situation, and he must now accept the consequences recommending the House cite Mark Meadows for contempt of congress
and refer him to the Department of Justice for prosecution.”

“Vice-Chair Liz Cheney said the White House
knew what was happening at the Capitol because Fox News hosts texted them:

“Indeed, according to the records, multiple Fox News hosts knew the president needed to act immediately.
They texted Mr. Meadows, and he’s turned over those texts.
“The president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy,” Laura Ingraham wrote.
      “Please get him on TV.
This is destroying everything you have accomplished,” Brian Kilmeade texted.
“Can he make a statement? Ask people to leave the Capitol,” Sean Hannity urged.””

Jan. 6 panel votes for contempt charges against Mark Meadows

“The texts, provided by Meadows before he ceased cooperating with the committee,
    revealed that members of Congress,
    Fox News anchors
and even President Donald Trump’s own son
were urging Meadows to push Trump to act quickly to stop the siege by his supporters.
“We need an Oval address,” Donald Trump Jr. texted Meadows
as his father’s supporters were breaking into the Capitol,
sending lawmakers running for their lives and interrupting the certification of President Joe Biden’s victory.
“He has to lead now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand.”
Trump Jr. added, “He’s got to condemn this s—- ASAP.”

“These texts leave no doubt,” Cheney said.
“The White House knew exactly what was happening at the Capitol.”

    • December 14, 2021 at 1:23 pm

“In a text exchange with an unidentified senator, the committee said,
Meadows said Trump believed Vice President Mike Pence had power to reject electors in his role presiding over the Jan. 6 certification.” (WaPo)

—Those who called Trump to stop the attack on the Capitol believed he could do so if he wanted to.
—Fox News hosts asked him to do it, even as they decided not to show the terrible attack in real time.
—Fox News and affiliates have since denied the insurrection happened, purposely dividing the nation.

It’s weird that there’s even debate about this. Well not really debate, just a bunch of traitorous asswipes in Congress who’d try it again!

  24. December 14, 2021 at 3:09 pm

“Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’s direct participation in planning a deadly coup attempt
may not be generating a ton of splashy headlines, but what if we told you he may have done so via a personal email account? Somebody wake up James Comey.

Meadows sent an email on January 5
noting that the National Guard would be on standby to “protect pro Trump people” the next day,
according to a 51-page document released Sunday night by the January 6 committee.
It’s not clear who Meadows sent the message to, but it’s an extremely interesting comment to the investigators looking into whether Donald Trump had anything to do with the National Guard’s delayed response to the attack.

The committee’s report laid out its case for holding Meadows in contempt of Congress,
describing other texts and emails he had turned over that raised follow-up questions, including messages establishing that Meadows was with or in contact with Trump as the violence unfolded. The panel also said it wants to know why Meadows had used a personal cell phone, a Signal account, and two personal Gmail accounts to conduct White House business—the most serious offense any government official can commit—and whether he had turned over all of the records from those accounts to the National Archives.”

    • December 14, 2021 at 3:12 pm

“Among the documents Meadows turned over before clamming up was an election subversion PowerPoint that he’s since tried to distance himself from, with limited success.

The 38-page PowerPoint titled ‘Election Fraud, Foreign Interference, & Options for 6 JAN’
(which may not be identical to the 36-page version going around on Twitter,
but shares the same name and recommendations, reportedly)
detailed various ways for then-Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election,
urged Trump to declare a national emergency, and cited the very kookiest conspiracy theories about China and Venezuela taking control of voting infrastructure in swing states.”

“Meadows willingly turned over a blueprint for a coup and evidence that Trump’s top concern on January 6 was not lawmakers’ safety; imagine what’s in the records he’s still trying to hide.”

Hello, Quick update on my knee surgery. It was 6 weeks ago today. My therapist (I adore her) says I am right on target and will probably be released next week. Have my (probably) last appt. with my dr. this Friday. This whole thing is simply a process of work and time. My biggest issue is (as of two weeks ago) headache EVERY day late afternoon to early evening. Nothing helps much. It is affecting my sleep a lot which is slowing me feeling like moving and walking enough during the day. I thought the discouraging times were gone, but these headaches and no sleep has changed that.

    Barack Obama Remembers Sandy Hook
as ‘One of the Darkest Days’ of His Presidency on Shooting Anniversary
    (Aaron Parsley)

“Today we remember the children and adults who were killed … and the families who have endured so much grief,” the former president said before urging action to prevent future acts of gun violence.”

“Nine years ago, on Dec. 14, 2012, 20 first-graders and six educators were shot and killed in a school shooting that rocked the country that had for years been plagued by mass shooting events at its schools.

“Nine years ago was one of the darkest days of my presidency,” Obama, 60, said on Twitter Tuesday, the anniversary of the shooting. “Today we remember the children and adults who were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary, and the families who have endured so much grief.”

In a follow-up post, Obama said, “The best way to honor them — the only way that really matters — is to fight this epidemic of gun violence and prevent even more senseless death and suffering. We can, and must, do more.”

Factory workers threatened with firing if they left before tornado, employees say
At least eight people died in the Mayfield Consumer Products candle factory…

“MAYFIELD, Ky. — As a catastrophic tornado approached this city Friday, employees of a candle factory — which would later be destroyed — heard the warning sirens and wanted to leave the building. But at least five workers said supervisors warned employees that they would be fired if they left their shifts early.

For hours, as word of the coming storm spread, as many as 15 workers beseeched managers to let them take shelter at their own homes, only to have their requests rebuffed, the workers said.

Fearing for their safety, some left during their shifts regardless of the repercussions.

At least eight people died in the Mayfield Consumer Products factory, which makes scented candles. The facility was leveled, and all that is left is rubble. Photos and videos of its widespread mangled remains have become symbols of the enormous destructive power of Friday’s tornado system.”

—-With a 3 hour warning, workers who probably wanted to go home and be with their families, were forced to choose between stay or lose their jobs.

D.C. attorney general sues Proud Boys, Oath Keepers over Jan. 6 attack

“D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine (D) on Tuesday sued the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers
over the Jan. 6 attack on Congress,
seeking to use a law written to cripple the Ku Klux Klan to seek stiff financial penalties from the far-right groups that Racine alleges were responsible for the violence.
The lawsuit filed in federal court in Washington cites the modern version of an 1871 law
known as t\he Ku Klux Klan Act,
which was enacted after the Civil War
to safeguard government officials carrying out their duties and protect civil rights.
Two similar suits have been filed already this year related to Jan. 6 — one by Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, and another by a number of police officers who fought the rioters that day.
Racine’s suit, however, is the first effort by a government agency to hold individuals and organizations civilly responsible for the violence at the U.S. Capitol on the day Congress ceremonially confirmed President Biden’s 2020 election victory.”

“At a news conference, ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt called Jan. 6 “
the most predictable terror attack in the history of our country,” and Racine thanked journalists for identifying the many “red flags” that preceded that day.”

    —–thank you AG Racine.
