Remarks by President Biden on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
    Nov 10/21

“And according to the economic experts, this bill is going to ease inflationary pressures,
lowering the cost to working families. Seventeen — excuse me — yeah, 17 Nobel laureates in economics wrote a letter to me about 10 days ago saying this is going to affect — bring inflation down, not up. ”

Americans must ask, what are Mark Meadows and Steve Bannon hiding?

“The indictment of former top Trump aide Steve Bannon on charges of contempt of Congress is a first,
with the Biden Justice Department showing that no one is above the law and that they will do their part to uphold Congress’s subpoena power. Bannon is expected to turn himself in on Monday and appear in court that afternoon.” (Tiffany Cross)

Trump : “I would like to punch him in the face, I will tell you.
Knock the crap out of him, would you?
Seriously, OK? Just knock the hell — I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. In the good old days, this doesn’t happen, because they used to treat them very, very rough. In the good old days, they’d rip him out of that seat so fast. You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks.”

      Trump this week:
Karl: “They were saying “Hang Mike Pence!””
Trump: “Because it’s common sense, Jon.

I’ve worked inside of federal prisons for over twenty years, the fear in the eyes of some of the new arrivals is something I’ll never forget. To hear that cell door slam behind you is something you can’t prepare for. I’ve seen many people get arrested, and go to trial and lose, and get sentenced anywhere from a couple of months all the way up to life. I can guarantee you that Bannon and whomever else from the Trump junta that gets arrested and has to spend two hours going through the booking process and the arraignment, will come away from that experience, and for the very first time in their lives truly understand the meaning of every man for himself.

No doubt you are correct. In this case, Bannon will never see the inside of a jail. Neither will any of the others.

The Federal Assault Weapons Ban enacted in 1994 expired in 2004.

Since then, America has become a living hell of mass killings.
Military weapons are not for civilians. Ask anyone in the developed world.

Humans are too fallible and the second amendment excuse is a fraud…it was for flint locks.
Don’t insult me with this ridiculous pretense.
      Stop talking.

Secret Tapes Of NRA Leadership Reveal Debate Of Post-Columbine Strategy

‘Following the Columbine shooting in April of 1999, top leaders of the National Rifle Association huddled in private to discuss their public response to the tragedy.

Secret tapes of those deliberations were obtained by NPR investigative correspondent Tim Mak. He explains what’s revealed in the tapes: that the group considered a much different stance than the one it ultimately took — a stance that would help set the stage for decades of debate about gun violence in America.’

Ruben Gallego RIPS Fellow Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar

“This has gone too far. This is not the first time he has incited violence. He has hung out with anti-Semites,
has said anti-Semitic phrases and tropes, threatened the president also. It’s time to move on. He’s a joke. He’s been a joke to Congress. He’s not serving his constituents well. If he doesn’t want to act in a civilized manner, then he shouldn’t be able to serve on committees. If he changes his tune, maybe it’s a different story.

But right now there’s no way a member of Congress like him should be serving.
If he was in the private sector, he would’ve been fired by now, by the way, when you threaten violence upon one of your coworkers.” (speaking to Chris Hayes)

The problem with Kevin McCarthy’s overdue reaction to Paul Gosar
It took more than a week, but Kevin McCarthy finally commented on Paul Gosar’s latest controversy.
His reaction was as underwhelming as it was overdue.

“What McCarthy did not do, however, is criticize Gosar or condemn the latest in a series of controversies surrounding the Arizonan’s antics.
As we discussed last week, the House GOP leader — the would-be House Speaker — has plenty of options. McCarthy could endorse Gosar’s expulsion, support a censure resolution, strip Gosar of his committee assignments, announce that the NRCC will not support the congressman’s re-election campaign, etc.”

Infrastructure bill a victory for Biden as well for democracy as a system of government

“Rachel Maddow points out that even as improving U.S. infrastructure has been a central goal of President Biden, he has also been focused on proving to the world that democracy is an effective, productive means of governing, superior to autocracy, a goal also served by the passage of the infrastructure bill.”
