      Speaker Pelosi:

“As we are reviewing priorities and at the urging of many Members of the Caucus, I
have asked the Ways and Means Committee for its legislation for Paid Family and Medical Leave to be included in this morning’s hearing. Chairman Richie Neal and the Committee staff have worked on this priority for a long time and were ready. I commend the Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth for his leadership in shepherding this legislation. I also want to thank Chairman Jim McGovern and all Members of the Rules Committee for their ongoing good judgment and constant work on behalf of the Congress.

Again, the hearing will take place today, so that we can bring up the legislation.
Today is another momentous day in our historic effort to make the future better for the American people, For The Children, to Build Back Better With Women, to save the planet. As the world gathers in Glasgow to address the climate crisis, it is imperative that we show the world that America will do more than its fair share to meet and beat the standards.

Thank you for your ongoing leadership For The People.”

Too funny and yet scary at the same time!

GGail⚽ scary effers! TOD Fam has a huge educational project to try out. Not within TOD, but outside this fam haven, anyone we meet out there, whether family or just folks in our environs. We’ve got some education to counter miseducation! House to house, village to village, etc. Whatever it takes. Seeing yesterday’s election cycle & how media played the same BS game, we need to counter that BS. Best way, I think, is grassroots, get folks to drop off their ballots at official boxes, don’t DeJoy mail, & eff MSM. 👊😘💞

Remarks by President Biden in Press Conference

“Glasgow must start — be the start, as I — you’re tired of hearing me say it — but a decisive decade of action so we can keep a limit of 1.5 degrees within the reach of us and the rest of the world.
And we have to keep accelerating our progress.”

Manchin’s sponsors both domestic + foreign want President Biden and democracy to fail, looks like.
So whatever it takes to hold up legislation desperately needed by suffering American people and the planet.
All the delay and circular talk probably affects voters too…how do we end up with these cunning sociopaths in Congress?

      Notes from earlier:
specially formulated vaccines for young people…these doses will be available at approx 20,000 locations around the country…pharmacies, pediatricians, family doctors and hospitals…after work and after school.
Working to…bring vaccines to school…ensure equity is at the center…bottom line is we’ve been planning and preparing for months…fully up and running by next week…also know some families may have questions. Doing everything we can to make these vaccines easily available.
Children make up one quarter of the cases in this country…some end up hospitalized but they don’t have to.
Vaccinations…helping economy and helping us grow….600,000 new jobs a month, that’s the average…
incredible progress over the past 9 months. Get the vaccine, it’s easy, accessible, and it’s free.

This is not conducive to keeping a city from burning down. The wrong verdict will guarantee mayhem with a Jury made up of this

“After a long and contentious jury selection process in a coastal Georgia county in preparation for the trial for Ahmaud Arbery’s killing, a panel of 12 people was chosen Wednesday.

The jury, consisting of 11 White members and one Black member,

was selected after a two-and-a-half-week selection process that ended with prosecutors for the state accusing defense attorneys of disproportionately striking qualified Black jurors and basing some of their strikes on race.

Judge Timothy Walmsley said the defense appeared to be discriminatory in selecting the jury but that the case could go forward.

“This court has found that there appears to be intentional discrimination,” Walmsley said Wednesday.

Statement by President Biden on the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act

“Today, Senate Republicans blocked debate on the bipartisan John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Provisions in the bill have passed the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support five times, most recently 98-0 in 2006. Let there be a debate and let there be a vote.

The right to vote is sacred and constitutional. It’s fundamental to all other rights. The soul of America is at stake.”
    (whitehouse.gov)

    • November 4, 2021 at 11:20 am

Senate Republicans again undermined the sacred right to vote and harmed their own constituents when they blocked the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Pelosi Statement on Republican Obstruction of John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act

“Right now, our nation faces the most sinister and severe campaign of voter suppression since Jim Crow. Across the country, Republican state legislators and Republican-appointed judges are silencing the voices of voters – especially in communities of color. This year alone, we have seen states enact 33 new laws restricting access to the ballot, as well as a Supreme Court ruling in Brnovich v. DNC that further eroded the Voting Rights Act.

“While Republicans in Congress shamefully abandon their oath to defend our democracy and greenlight this brazen assault for their own political gain, Democrats are fighting back. Our House-passed Voting Rights Advancement Act empowered the Justice Department to block voting restrictions imposed by states with dark histories of discrimination so every voter has fair access to the ballot box – a cause to which our beloved John Lewis courageously devoted his entire life. Proudly, the people are with us: on an overwhelming and bipartisan basis, Americans support the passage of this urgent, essential legislation.

“Democrats will not relent until this bill, and the Freedom to Vote Act,
are enshrined into law so that every American can have a say in the destiny of our democracy.”

Maize Hirono Says Democrats Need To Tell Voters Who’s Screwing Them Over

“Sen. Hirono offered any Democratic candidate some great advice. It is great to accomplish things and tell the voters what you have done for them, but if there has been one thing missing in all of the 2021 campaigns it is a message of what Republicans plan to do if they are restored to power.

For instance, voters can expect Republicans to undo and gut universal pre-k, the child tax credit, and the agreement to lower prescription drug prices. Instead of focusing on what happened in Virginia, Democrats should be telling voters who is out to screw them over.

With a year to go until the midterms, it is time for Democrats to go on offense.

Argh! Trying to wipe away the dangers of the FaceBook monopoly by hiding behind a new name is insulting. Z probably thinks we will not act.

(My solution would be to get rid of it entirely and start over based on what we have learned…imo no good will come from FB/Metaverse will morph.)

Monopoly. Cannot have one worldwide company that has information on everyone !!!!

In 2021 elections, Biden out-performs past 30 years of first-year presidents

“Rachel Maddow points out the pattern in recent history of first year presidents going all the way back to George H.W. Bush losing the governorship of Virginia and New Jersey to the opposing party, and since Democrats actually won New Jersey, losing in Virginia doesn’t necessarily warrant a freak out
no matter what the Beltway media says.”

How Black Performance and Presence Shaped America

    Michael Eric Dyson
In his new book “Entertaining Race,”
compiles decades of his writing, sermons and speeches,
crafting a collection that explores Black performance and presence.

“As a people forced to be an entertaining race, we are, by definition,
not just performers but a performance of many sorts, of fictions and fantasies,” he explains.
Dyson notes his own ongoing performance of Blackness, ascribing himself multiple roles: a “preacher, writer, pastor, university professor, public intellectual, lecturer, cultural critic, author, social activist, newspaper columnist, radio talk show host, political analyst and media commentator.” He understands all too well that in order to advance the public conversation on race, he and his fellow public intellectuals must keep Americans, particularly white Americans, entertained.”

    • November 4, 2021 at 3:13 pm

      Dyson to O’Donnell:

“First of all, Black people from the very beginning of our sojourn in America have had to entertain the dominant white culture, from the slave ship to the plantation, to the stage of performance.

Number two, we’ve had to entertain the idea of race. Constantly we are negotiating between and betwixt segments of our society that mandate that we address rather explicitly or implicitly the issue of race.

And then thirdly, we have had to find a way to be entertaining while talking about race. How do we think about race in ways that are not hackneyed, or those old phrases that seem to be ruthlessly cliched for some people. We have to find new and inventive ways to try to speak new realities to old truths.”

He is holding up the BBB voting. He should hear from Voters as should any Congressional people holding up progress.

hearing from voters in one thing…harassment and threats are something else….the voters have the ultimate say thru the ballot box…if these folks are from WV, they would be more effective if they voted him out of office
