PBO carries a lot of weight and is so vital to our success in America and around the World.
And on another front, closer to my heart
Good morning and Happy Hump Day to everyone who helped California stay Blue last night. Let's do that for the rest of America in 2022, but with less suspense.
Pentagon officials: Gen Milley did not try to insert himself in the chain of command regarding the launch of nuclear weapons, but he made sure everyone knew what their roles were and what they weren’t. They reviewed lawful launch procedures following Pelosi phone call.
Stacey Abrams, Fair Fight:
“On the new voting rights compromise from Senate Democrats: “I am excited and very supportive of the Freedom to Vote Act. It takes the best intentions that we have for protecting our democracy and concretizes it.”
“And where we are in this moment in our history,
we are under assault by those who would declare themselves insurrectionist who would undermine the very fundamental premise of our nation by undermining our democracy.
And so I want the Department of Justice to be at the forefront of pushing back against these laws.
I want them to be at the forefront demanding action. But we also need our Congress to step up.
We need our Executive branch, we need our Judicial branch, and we need our Legislative branches.
And the Freedom to Vote Act ensures that the Legislative branch takes its step.
And what we’re doing while we wait, is making sure that the Justice Department who works for all of us, that they are doing their best to ensure and protect our access to the right to vote. And hopefully with these two pieces in place, we will have a judiciary that recognizes that its responsibility is not partisanship, but patriotism, and will defend the right to vote and start to reverse some of the terrible decisions they’ve made in the last decade.”
Hayes: “What do you think about voting by mail as a tool?”
Ms. Abrams:
“Georgia Republicans pioneered access to voting by mail in 2005, 2006.
And they proved over the course of years that it is a very effective way of voting. So effective than in 2018, we strongly encouraged every voter to use it.
And we saw a shift in the population that used to vote by mail.
What happened in 2020 is that we recognize that in this day and age, in a modern era,
being able to vote by mail is an essential part of participating in our democracy.
Everyone was promising that COVID would be over — certainly, some people were promising COVID would be over. We find ourselves in the second year of this process, a second year of this pandemic.
But what we do know is that vote by mail is safe,
It’s secure, and it provides even greater access to democracy because communities that rely on it,
like the disabled, like the elderly, should not be the only ones who have the ability to access our democracy when challenges happen. It works. It’s safe, it’s good.
And Republicans have spent more than a decade proving it, and we believe it now.”
On McConnell claiming the new GOP voter suppression bills are ‘not based on race’:
Ms. Abrams:
“We need to make certain that no matter where you live in America, your right to vote is real and protected. And I call on Mitch McConnell and all of his colleagues to stand with Democrats and say that we believe in patriotism over partisanship, and that the Freedom to Vote Act is going to be the bill that makes it so.”
I’m sorry but the recall was a complete and unmitigated disaster for Republicans and the forces pushing it. They got destroyed and in some ways it’s the first concrete piece of evidence that Trumpism has enduring political costs.
Statement by President Biden
on 2.8 Million Americans Gaining Health Care in the 2021 Special Enrollment Period
“These numbers are encouraging, but we have more work to do to drive down the cost of health care for all Americans. My Build Back Better Agenda would lower prescription drug costs for millions of Americans by letting Medicare negotiate drug prices; provide health care premium tax cuts for nine million Americans that reduce costs an average of $600; and deliver quality, affordable care to millions more.”
“I urge Congress to act quickly to deliver for the American people—to keep up the vital work of expanding access and lowering health care costs across the board, and to continue building on the strong foundation of the Affordable Care Act.”
A-hem, pretty sure Forever President Barack Obama sounds much more realistic than ‘former’… but never mind, don’t want anymore of the crazy people getting their knickers in a knot, now do we?

“One of the biggest objections to the framework Senator Manchin announced in June
related to a national voter identification requirement. The new bill permits states to decide whether to require voter identification, but broadens the list of acceptable IDs for states that choose to require them. Under the new bill, states must allow utility bills and leases as well as student IDs and virtually any identification issued by a governmental entity to serve as an acceptable ID. In effect, the bill would require states with stricter ID laws to accept these documents as well, thereby reducing the disenfranchisement caused by strict ID laws in many red states.”
Elias to Hayes:
“It is a very good bill. It’s a very good voting bill.

Hello. Happy to be here. Still recovering. Never know what each day is going to bring. Biggest issue is the night sweats that interrupt my sleep. Had two nights in a row of little sleep so yesterday was NOT a good day. Slept better last night, not great, but enough that I feel better today. Did have one sweat, but managed to go back to sleep quickly. I have an appt. with one of our PAs tomorrow afternoon. Not sure how successful or how much help it will be. Worth a try. Our PC is out on maternity leave.
Hooray for CA! Thanks to everyone for all the hard work. Trumpism is beginning to show itself, huh?
Hi tnmtgirl1…do you feel on the mend a little…on sleeping have found that all-natural melatonin is great. Best wishes for your appt tomorrow, yes CA did good!
I have a number of days in a row where I feel good. Then, the night sweats interrupt my sleep so much that I don’t get the rest I need at night. Two nights in a row of that and yesterday I “done.” I have taken melatonin for years. Guess what my daughter saw advertised this morning and when she went out to get groceries, she got a bottle. Time release Melatonin. It is made by NatureMade. She had to go to Walgreen’s. It is not with the regular vitamins. It is with the Sleep aids. We are going to share the bottle. 🙂
Hi…may take a few days for your body to attune, in any case melatonin is harmless and good for the brain (not needed by young people). Not me but some take a 5m dose. You could try taking a 2.5 and then have another one there ready when you wake up – the one i use is Source Naturals.
Good, good, you’ll make it, these things are slow as we grow older, now we are learning to cope and manage, to adapt and adjust our expectations of what is feasible. We can do this graciously, I know!
Senator Warnock:
“Well, I`ve been very clear from day one that we must pass voting rights no matter what…and nothing is more important. Certainly not a Senate rule. But we`ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
Elite US gymnast Simone Biles has testified before the Senate about abuse she suffered at the hands of disgraced former team doctor, Larry Nassar.
Former teammates Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney also appeared before the committee, along with FBI Director Christopher Wray.
The committee is examining shortcomings in the FBI’s investigation into Nassar, later convicted of sexually abusing girls.
He is serving a life sentence in jail.
“I blame Larry Nasser, and I also blame an entire system that enabled and perpetrated his abuse,” said Ms Biles, the most decorated Olympic gymnast of all-time.
“If you allow a predator to harm children, the consequences will be swift and severe,” she added.
Gymnast Maggie Nichols – the first victim to report her abuse to USA Gymnastics – also testified.
They were some of the more than 200 women who gave powerful impact statements to a court in 2018, detailing Nassar’s abuse when he was the sports doctor of the United States women’s national gymnastics team.
On concerns of Trump instability,
Gen. Milley built shadow authority; soothed China: book
“Rachel Maddow shares passages from the upcoming book “Peril” by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa
in which Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, was so alarmed at Donald Trump’s
post-election loss behavior that he made himself a bulwark to Trump’s use of nuclear weapons
and gave assurances to China that any belligerent Trump impulses would be contained.”
“Rachel Maddow reports on a new Republican effort in Wisconsin to match Arizona’s theatrics
around the 2020 election results, apparently including the confused procedures and overall ignorance about how the state’s elections are conducted.”
(some of the story so far…Dane County Clerk Scott McDonnell got a hokey email demanding the preservation of 2020 election records. All kinds of problems with the emails…signed by Spencer Gableman but sent by a John Delta…from a gmail address…with a PDF attached to it authorized by ((former Trump administration official) Andrew Kloster…letterhead looks like copy of a screen cap of the state’s seal. Listen to learn how the data may be linked to “Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Galaxy.)
Scott McDonell, Dane County Clerk, former WI judge:
“I think there was an attempt to send it (aforementioned email) to all the county clerks.
I know some of them received it and some of them, they went straight to their spam folders. So they read the news reporting and then started looking for it.”
Maddow:
“Besides this missive which was strange in a lot of ways. It is from a random Gmail address. It had a PDF attached to it that the metadata suggests was written by potentially a former Trump administration official who’s not known to be attached to this. It didn’t seem to be on real letterhead. The name on the Gmail address didn’t match the address on the Gmail address. In fact had a different name, somebody named John Delta, if that’s even a thing. A lot of obvious red flags here. Was this actually the first purported official communication you’ve received about this audit, or have they been in touch with you before this in some more official way?
McDonell:
“No this is the first communication I got from Mr. Gableman – assuming that was Spencer Gableman! So yes here are a lot of red flags on that e-mail as you pointed out. And it’s sort of like phishing 101 – you don’t open a fake Gmail account. You don’t send something to that. You know the name didn’t match, or where the address was from. And this is the person who’s supposedly in charge of checking to make sure our Election was honest and fair, and it’s pretty scary.”
“The thing is (the email) didn’t really ask for anything. And honestly the things that he was sort of saying we should preserve the municipal clerks don’t have. All these records reside with county. He first made this request to the Wisconsin Election Commission thinking they had this data and they said ‘No, this is at the county level’.
Maddow:
“It does sound like even the questions that he’s asking and the supposed information and records that he’s asking for, betray a fundamental lack of understanding about how elections are run in the state. Is that fair?”
McDonell:
“Right and he references ‘preserving the voting machines’. Well the voting machines really are dumb terminals, Rachel. They really don’t have any information on them…there’s nothing on those machines. He could have asked someone and found that out.”
Hi Everyone! The first all-civilian space launch just happened! Woot! 🚀✨

There were several reasons I refused to stay in the “secure location” on the 6th. This was one of them.

Permafrost Thaw in Siberia Creates a Ticking ‘Methane Bomb’ of Greenhouse Gases, Scientists Warn
“In 2020, temperatures in the region rose nearly 11 degrees Fahrenheit above normal, causing the limestone to release ancient methane deposits”
“Published by the Climate Crisis Advisory Group (CCAG), it calls for a “global state of emergency”
as temperatures continue to climb in Siberia and other Arctic regions.
Permafrost covers 65 percent of Russian lands, but it’s melting fast.
“Scientists have been shocked that the warm weather conducive to permafrost thawing is occurring roughly 70 years ahead of model projections,” the CCAG warning states. It also points out that the Arctic could lose 89 percent of its permafrost by 2100, the Moscow Times reports.
The CCAG report cautions that warming temperatures could be pushing the Arctic toward an “irreversible” tipping point, causing the release of methane and other gases, as well as crumbling infrastructure in Siberia, including dams and a nuclear power plant.
“The story is simple,” the report concludes.
“Climate change is happening faster than anticipated. One consequence—the loss of ice in the polar regions—is also a driver for more rapid global heating and disastrously rapid global sea level rise.”
So many of our young people are depressed and anxious about OUR global climate emergency, and
the gross INACTION. This is not a rehearsal for the planet or a blockbuster thriller.

Italy is to make it compulsory for all workers to have a Covid “green pass” – proof of vaccination, a negative test or recovery from the virus.
The measures are a first for Europe and some of the strictest in the world.
Anyone without a pass will reportedly face suspension from work and may have their pay stopped after five days.
The measure, due to come into force on 15 October, aims to boost vaccinations in a country that has been badly hit by the virus.
Green pass certificates for Covid-19, provided both digitally and on paper, are already required to access Italian train stations, cinemas, restaurants, gyms and swimming pools.
School staff are also required to show a pass and some teachers have reportedly been turned away from work.

“After the 2020 election, Mike Pence was prepared to do the wrong thing. He just couldn’t find a credible way to pull it off.”

Seems like they lied about the wheels.
No disclosure of any kind advised. (IT Security Department).
n.b. There are articles out there not questioning any of the giant hokeyness above, reporting as though this ‘request’ is real.

Hi Everyone! The first all-civilian space launch just happened! Woot! 🚀✨
Liftoff!
DJ = AG. Pity.
Every ‘institution’ is corrupted to the core.
Holy cow.
More proof the call was coming from inside the house. Literally.
INCREDIBLE…
Why only midterms? Do it forever. With double digit blowouts.
Preserve? Why not subpoena them straight away? Ugh. Even snails do better.
SpaceX Launch First All-civilian Inspiration4 Crew Into Orbit
Congrats, bravi!!
“The commander of the flight, Jared Isaacman,
is the founder and billionaire CEO of Shift4 Payments. He is accompanied by Hayley Arceneaux, a physician assistant at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Chris Sembroski, an aerospace data engineer; and pilot and geoscientist Sian Proctor.”
“The mission, dubbed Inspiration4, will help support Isaacman’s goal to raise $200 million
to help cure children’s cancer. While in orbit, the crew will also conduct research “designed to advance human health on Earth and during future long-duration spaceflights,” according to SpaceX.”

We must have President Biden’s entire $3.5 Trillion Infrastructure Bill.
= Manchin or No-Manchin
Instead of hand wringing, why don’t the dems do something about it? Drown the thugs in lawsuits.
Because the bigger pie is going to very few wealthy peeps whom the msm minions adore while the smaller pie is for the rest of the pleebs, whom they despise.
Lol. All this because of a clueless moron.

8-year-old to deliver portable desks to Uganda
After learning that some kids in Uganda don’t have schools, a young girl from Texas came up with a solution. She will deliver do-it-yourself desks to the country, giving students there an opportunity to create pop-up classrooms.
