    Native America Calling: Music Maker
“Qacung aka Stephen Blanchet is out with his first solo album, “Miu.”
In it, we hear about his love for First Alaskans. It’s celebration of jazz, R&B and the traditional sounds and Indigenous language fill each track with soulful fun, something that stems from Qacung’s many years with his group Pamyua. Now, he is telling his own story of love, loss and place.
It’s also dedicated to the ancestors and, as he says, the future of Alaska Natives to come.

    Morning everyone.

Russian state TV clearly trying to expand their audience to that 30% here in the US
A Capitol police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt during the Jan. 6 riot bravely stepped forward and revealed his identity on Thursday in an interview on NBC Nightly News. After the attempted insurrection, Lt. Michael Leroy Byrd, a 28-year-veteran of the force, had faced threats and intimidation, as his name traveled in various circles. Russian state television besmirched Byrd for months and revealed his ethnicity long before he was publicly identified. State TV hosts and pundits repeatedly described him as a “Black officer” and outrageously attributed his motives for shooting Babbitt to reverse racism against white people.

Thursday’s broadcast of the Russian state TV show 60 Minutes went all in on that demented line of attack with a segment entitled “Black Racism.” During the episode, host Olga Skabeeva claimed: “Sensation in the case of the Capitol riot! Today, during primetime, the most liberal American television channel will air the interview with the black policeman who shot an unarmed white woman, a follower of (former U.S. President) Donald Trump, Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt. Ashli tried to walk from one room to the next, through the door broken by somebody else, but instead was struck by the bullet.”

Skabeeva continued her diatribe: “The American justice system somehow managed to clear the officer of all charges… In case you didn’t know, the policeman got away with it because he is Black—and Blacks are permitted to kill white people. I will remind you that when the dark-skinned criminal George Floyd was accidentally choked during his apprehension, a white policeman was sentenced to prison for more than 22 1/2 years.”

The comparisons between George Floyd and Ashli Babbitt have been featured on Russian state TV since January, with detailed compilations of bullet points that smeared Floyd and extolled Babbitt. State TV show The Evening With Vladimir Soloviev compared the list of George Floyd’s alleged crimes against Ashli Babbitt’s achievements. The host, Vladimir Soloviev, described Babbitt as “the icon of neocons” and claimed: “Only white America cares about her death, but not the democratic press.”

Didint PBO say that cyber threats are next, way back when? I take it to also include the army of tweeters or commenters online making inflammatory comments (in different forums) with the purpose of driving a wedge.
And who better than PP to answer that call of duty to sow chaos? 🤷‍♀️

This is outrageous. WTH are these Russians doing. Babbitt was no hero and Floyd wasn’t accidentally killed.

So, there are several moving parts to this situation and we, the people are responsible to mitigate as much as we can, like saving even a small amount for a rainy day, being willing to transition or pivot skills for new employment. And States, like my California is extending the moratorium. All of these will help. Plus Voting the right Local, State and Federal leaders.

Republicans Intentionally Created The SIV Backlog And Then They Blamed Biden

“Republicans intentionally created the SIV backlog to prevent immigrants from coming to the US.”

    Sen Murphy tweeted:
“Over the last decade, Republicans have pushed to intentionally create a massive backlog in the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program – the one we use to bring Afghan partners to America, by putting onerous conditions on the applications.”
“This dovetailed with the assault by Trump and Republicans to destroy other refugee programs that bring Afghans to the U.S..

Obama admitted over 2,700 Afghan refugees.
Trump admitted 400, bc he had dismantled the refugee system. Biden had to rebuild it.”

    • August 28, 2021 at 3:00 pm

“Republicans Don’t Want Afghan Immigrants In The US,
But Blame Biden For Their Inability To Get Out Of Afghanistan.

Republicans are casting blame on President Biden for a crisis that they intentionally caused. Any Republican who says that the success of the mission will depend on how many Afghan partners are left behind is lying to the American people.

Republicans in Congress rigged the deck by gutting the special immigrant visa program long before Donald Trump arrived. Trump accelerated the destruction of refugee programs, but the wheels were already in motion before he was president.

Joe Biden is trying to get US Afghan partners out, but it is Republicans who have put obstacles in the way, and then criticized the President for his efforts.

Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans are to blame for every Afghan partner who is left behind because leaving American allies to the Taliban is exactly what they wanted.”

All the families suddenly without their loved ones after the bomb in Kabul, gone just like that.
How do you say goodbye when parts of them are missing and you are so far away? Where’s the ‘victory’ in all the suffering? Surely nobody believes that war will solve differences in the 21st century. Forgive me for any possible iota of part played past or future in creating this horror. May all of who have lost and all who were injured heal,

There are constitutional amendments that Granted the Sons and Daughters of enslaved people access to the vote…there are Laws that supposedly granted access to the ballot….

and now we have new laws in Congress that if passed would protect these same people’s access to the ballot…voting …and then having those votes count….

Does anyone see a pattern here…

This will always be this ongoing BATTLE…regarding access to the ballot …to vote…and then having those votes counted..

there will always be actions to deny Blk People and by extension…other people of color…access to the ballot and voting and having those votes counted…

I do not say this to discourage our fight….because we will always have to fight……but when folks like Klobuchar says that Voting is a guaranteed right…that is just rhetoric…

how many more laws will be needed to defend the right to vote for Black People…

Almost 2 Weeks After The Quake,
Aid Is Just Getting To Some Remote Towns In Haiti

“Eleven days after a magnitude 7.2 earthquake killed 2,200 people and destroyed 50,000 homes in Haiti’s southern peninsula, humanitarian groups and Haitians alike say that aid is only just now reaching some of the region’s most remote communities. And residents say their needs are greater than what they’re receiving.

Haiti’s mountainous southern peninsula is full of small communities that are typically accessible only by dirt road or footpaths. This month’s earthquake shook loose mudslides and rocks that are now blocking access. In this region, there are few airfields, and the steep, wooded terrain makes for difficult landing by helicopter. In many places, the only clearing large enough for a helicopter to land is the town soccer field.

As a result, towns like Baradères – a small village tucked in a mountain valley, whose population of roughly 2,000 people are mostly subsistence farmers living in simple, fragile homes made of concrete blocks and sheet metal – have had to wait a week or more for significant aid to begin arriving.”

“The below is attributable to Spokesperson Rebecca Chalif:‎

On August 26, Administrator Samantha Power traveled to Haiti,
where USAID is leading the United States government response to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck on August 14. While in Haiti, Administrator Power met with Haitians impacted by the disaster as well as Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry and other Haitian government officials. She also met with those contributing to the U.S. response on the ground, including the USAID Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), members of the US military, and USAID staff based in Haiti. During her visit Administrator Power emphasized the United States’ commitment to supporting the people of Haiti during their time of need and announced $32 million in new humanitarian assistance from USAID to support earthquake response efforts.”

“Maniche was among particularly hard-hit towns in the region. Administrator Power met with families whose homes were destroyed by the earthquake and visited their homes with them to see the damage.
She had numerous conversations with impacted community members, as well as with Maniche’s mayor, police chief, local firefighters and Civil Protection officials. The group visited the town’s school, which was destroyed, and discussed the challenges facing children who wouldn’t be able to start the school year as planned. The Administrator also met with USAID Haitian surge staff who joined with the Haitian officials as part of the immediate response to the earthquake. The group also met with local Haitian partners of the UN World Food Program,
which recently distributed USAID food assistance to more than 5,000 people in the town. Last week, WFP began transporting from Port-Au-Prince 830 metric tons of USAID food supplies—enough to feed more than 62,000 people for one month—and is distributing it in affected areas.”

“Administrator Power held a press conference in Port-au-Prince where she began by expressing her profound condolences to the families of the US service members and Afghans who were killed in Kabul today.
She then described how USAID’s $32 million in just-announced humanitarian assistance would support earthquake response efforts, including by supporting humanitarian partners delivering urgently needed health care services, emergency shelter and food, safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation assistance, gender-based violence prevention and response, child protection, and psychosocial support services.

Ex-Obama education chief compares anti-mask Americans to suicide bombers

‘They both blow themselves up, inflict harm on those around them,’ Arne Duncan says

“As the families of U.S. service members that died as a result of the ISIS-K attack in Afghanistan last week met with President Biden, Arne Duncan tweeted that he saw a comparison between the killers in Afghanistan and those Americans who oppose masks and vaccines.

“Have you noticed how strikingly similar both the mindsets and actions between the suicide bombers at Kabul’s airport, and the anti-mask and anti-vax people here?” Mr. Duncan said on Twitter. “They both blow themselves up, inflict harm on those around them, and are convinced they are fighting for freedom.”

“I’m often asked by some of my friends on the other side of the aisle about COVID …
and why does it seem like folks in Mississippi and maybe in the Mid-South are a little less scared, shall we say,” Reeves said.

“When you believe in eternal life — when you believe that living on this earth is but a blip on the screen,
then you don’t have to be so scared of things,” he said, but added:
“Now, God also tells us to take necessary precautions.”
