This excellent news explains why the GQP is working so hard to suppress votes.
#BREAKING: Georgia now has one of the highest voter registration rates in the nation, with 95% of citizens over 18 years old signed up to vote, according to federal election data released this week #gapolhttps://t.co/UUJnkvTqOy
Wow…When has this ever happened…There is something special going on in GA…and i hope that the rest the states catch on to it…What an extraordinary achievement
This is evidence of the work of so many organizers, canvassers, leaders, thinkers, organizations across the state and certainly my friend @nseufot and the team at @NewGAProject!
But the even better news is– no one is letting their foot off the gas. https://t.co/6SKAVj3eAj
Yes I agree, but Dems need to vote to win also. Here in California Dems outnumber republicans 2:1 yet with the Recall of Newsom the polls are tied. A lot of Dems don’t even know that there is a recall. That is what repugs count on… low Dem voter turn out for these recalls, and low voter turn out for the midterm elections.
In my circle of friends and acquaintances (Northern and Southern California), it’s a constant topic. We are all Fired Up and doing our Civic Duty. Even my caregiver’s family and friends (Latin American folks) are involved. I’m hopeful that we California Dems are participating because we know what the alternative can be. I’ve also received phone bank calls and text messages in support of Gov Newsom.
Lots of my friends and family here in CA have either voted NO already (like me) or are going to as soon as they receive their ballots, or have a free moment (like my hubby). I think more people are aware than is being reported.
Trump GOP:
imo…GOPQ reminds me of e.g. late Mayan rulers drove people to build some of the most spectacular pyramids and palaces as their power waned. Bully autocrats trying to make themselves look bigger with more and more show, getting louder, the minority using power to make themselves look bigger, increasingly cruel, more irresponsible, in a last gasp of despotism.
Americans at home tap every resource to help colleagues escape Afghanistan exodus gridlock
“Rachel Maddow tells the harrowing story of Maj. Thomas Schueman’s desperate efforts,
drawing on a wide network, to help his Afghan interpreter “Zak” and his wife and four small children escape Afghanistan and certain retribution from the Taliban for his assistance to U.S. Marines.”
About this blessed photo: “but he knew they were safe because they were with the marines.”
After the most excruciating, unimaginable series of events:
“Major Schueman shared this picture of Zak and his family on their way to the airport after meeting up with that air force captain. As of this morning he said he didn`t know when they would make it on a plane or what their final destination would be but he knew they were safe because they were with the marines.
And then look. One last picture today. Posted nine hours ago. The caption on this one was two words. Wheels up.”
—-Today every now and again i break down over all of this.
I am monitoring the situation near the Capitol Complex. My staff are safe and I am praying for all persons who work at the Capitol complex and first responders on the scene. pic.twitter.com/CYou8tqL1w
The Biden administration has announced that it will automatically erase student loan debt for more than 300,000 Americans with severe disabilities that leave them unable to earn significant incomes. The move will wipe out more than $5.8 billion in debt. https://t.co/fFuud3oF98
Bruh… just randomly thinking about how someone blew up 5 Blocks of downtown Nashville less than 9 months ago and it lasted all of 15 minutes in the news cycle lol.
Rachel Maddow:
“David Rohde was a reporter for “The New York Times`
when he and two Afghan colleagues were kidnapped by the Taliban in Afghanistan while on a reporting trip in 2008. They were held hostage together for over seven months before they made an escape that is almost too daring and too unlikely to be believed. They got out.
David survived in part because his Afghan colleagues saved his life and got him out.
If anybody can help us understand the situation these journalists and staff and their families finds themselves in tonight, it is David Rohde, who has been engaged in his own effort to try to get his former colleagues and their families out to safety right now.”
“David Rohde, executive editor of NewYorker.com,
talks with Rachel Maddow about how poor planning by the United States has left the airport in Kabul,
Afghanistan in gridlock as tens of thousands, including Americans, try to flee Afghanistan
under Taliban rule.”
I wonder how many folks are going to admit they got this wrong. Even better…what else is going to come out that was wrong? It’s the 2nd major fact check I’ve seen in 24 hrs.
Fact Check: Kabul Airport Chaos Video Is Actually From Texas, Not Afghanistan https://t.co/Oy7CzyZF1f
See real screenshots per the Rachel Maddow video up above.
Video is headed up with the photo of the young family in a car. The Kabul airport is pure hell on wheels.
People look like millions of tiny specks in all the turbulence. Making a connection with Zak’s family was basically an impossible feat, lucky series of events, thanks only to determined Major Schueman who kept trying to connect with every kind of military personnel. This is just one family of untold many.
imo,
If we go autocratic it will affect the whole world.
S & M will have to take credit for the rise of Fascism if they refuse to take off the self-imposed blinders.
I spoke to a veteran communications professional who has been trying to place prominent voices supportive of the Afghanistan withdrawal on television and in print.
Yes, I can believe that fair and balanced voices have been barred because the media wants to keep the “hair on fire” narrative going for as long as possible. It’s up to us, the public to push back via social media with supporting material.
If this bomber had been a black man…they would have never described him in this manner and that is IF he survived the confrontation…The police respond differently to suspects who look like them
An observation: Many of the same people criticizing President Biden for not being prepared on Afghanistan are encouraging their followers to not prepare their immune systems for Covid.
The media's coverage of @JoeBiden this week reminds me of the coverage during the primary when the media constantly tried to dethrone him as the frontrunner. It didn't work then and won't work now.
GEORGIA: The Georgia Secretary of State is mailing some voters a postcard to confirm their voter registration status. If you receive a postcard, follow the instructions and return it right away!

On the road to securing voting rights for all Americans, ratifying the 19th Amendment was a critical victory. But 101 years later, voting rights for many are being systematically targeted in 48 states.
We can help get back on track by enshrining the right to vote in federal law. https://t.co/QRWCfeRd5Q
101 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment, the franchise remains fragile — particularly for the women of color who are leading the charge for stalled federal voting rights legislation. https://t.co/duTDr7ofh2
“I wouldn’t change anything for the world.” Simone Biles didn’t plan for her second Olympics to become a flashpoint in the evolving conversation about the role mental health plays in sports. But she has no regrets. In fact, she’s leaning into it. https://t.co/1AwZPMJlJp
Apologies that clip is local Fox (I avoid all things F), but it’s a cool story. Bless this young man in his journey @ London Ballet, bless Ms Copeland for affording him that excellent opportunity:
btw,
Lawrence O’Donnell has emphasized this week the impossibility of exiting war without chaos.
That so far the logistics of ending a modern war has never been mastered,
and probably never will.
When Brittany Starks offered to braid the hair of a few kids on their way back to school for free, she had no idea how great the need for her services would be. How this once homeless mother is giving back 🧵 https://t.co/8iEmKtdy4zpic.twitter.com/TCXQcMNZu7
As I traveled through @YellowstoneNPS last week, I was escorted by a group of bison, welcoming me to the park. I am grateful to the staff and park rangers who made my first trip back to Yellowstone as Secretary of the Interior informative, engaging, and wonderful. pic.twitter.com/ZhmvWGz25d
Weird how the same people who were the first to criticize Sha’Carri Richardson for smoking a little weed to cope with her mom’s death are now eager to justify a white man threatening to blow up the Library of Congress because “he recently lost his mom.” 🤔
Wow. In North Texas, hospitals are preparing for what to do if they run out of ICU beds.
**If that happens, for the first time, doctors officially will be allowed to take vaccination status of sick patients into account to see who gets a bed.** https://t.co/wKj59le5xr
Sean Hannity did a segment with Ron DeSantis last night saying vaccines don’t work and won’t protect you. Then why do u need proof of vaccination status to get into Fox News Headquarters? @FoxNews
Trump said on TV yesterday that Covid was "virtually gone" when he left office — "it was over."
I’m ignoring 99% of Trump nonsense these days, but that's bad. On his last day, there were more than 193K reported new cases, more than 4K new deaths, more than 120K hospitalized.
when black athletes symbolically kneel during the anthem against police brutality it's unacceptable, but when a white dude wants to blow up DC, it's actually a reasonable frustration against socialism for some reason. https://t.co/Ag010PY3nj
Abbott is getting push back from GOP areas. He’s looking like a total fool. He needs to STFU and sit on his Covid veranda and stop video taping that he’s fine….who cares!
After Rep. Lauren Boebert became a politician, her husband went from working as a well site supervisor to making $1 million as an energy company consultant. In February, Boebert introduced a bill to loosen drilling rules without disclosing her conflict. https://t.co/RnH5FhOcZY
She lied. Just say she lied on official FEC reports and Congressional Ethics disclosures. Her husband is raking in half a million a year as a sole proprietor consultant to one client with business in her district. She’s as corrupt as she is stupid. https://t.co/DLTQkvtSIw
I saw my cat jump in the air and swat at a bee. His paw swelled so big it looked like he was wearing a baseball glove 😂 Then after the vet visit and a shot to reduce the swelling, he saw a bee and tried to swat it again 🤬
