Our progress on the journey to equality sometimes feels like two steps forward, one step back. But when marriage equality became the law of the land six years ago, justice arrived like a thunderbolt. https://t.co/6GxqTE8Gmh
“Today, we can say in no uncertain terms that we’ve made our union a little more perfect.”
Six years ago was a day full of justice, grace, and celebration. Hear from some of the people who lived through one of the most unforgettable days of the Obama Presidency.

Marijuana is not a performance enhancing drug. Out of date & discriminatory marijuana laws trickle down & have life-altering consequences. It's shameful.@RepBlumenauer & I are urging USADA to reconsider. Sha'Carri deserves to compete on the world stage. #LetRichardsonRunhttps://t.co/a7pJbqfUFt
Thanks, Gail and totally agree with you, Rep. Barbara Lee and my Rep. Blumenauer that Sha’Carri should NOT be banned for marijuana. Wanna bet they wouldn’t ban a white athlete for this?
Don't mess with lightning. It can strike up to 10mi from storms; well before rain starts or well after it ends. Go inside at the first sign of lightning and stay for at least 30min after the last rumble of thunder or flash of lightning. Bring the #4thOfJuly fun indoors with you! pic.twitter.com/MbZ9IEivrq
"The New Hampshire Supreme Court has struck down in its entirety the 2017 Republican-authored voter registration law known as Senate Bill 3, finding it imposes burdens on voters that are in violation of their rights under the state constitution."https://t.co/N4amJle2dd
Has any big business issued a statement about today's Supreme Court ruling? Or are they no longer even offering thoughts and prayers for our democracy.
After all of the fawning coverage the media gave corporate American for their "pro-democracy" press release in April, I would hope the media would do follow up stories on how little was actually done. https://t.co/FDUoTV3UXN
I will never forgive the members of my profession who treated Hillary Clinton's emails as the single most important issue facing voters in the 2016 election.
Tax Scheme In Weisselberg Indictment
Echoes NYT Reporting On Ivanka Trump Payouts
“Rachel Maddow compares the tax scheme described in the Allen Weisselberg indictment as involving “certain Trump Organization executives, including but not limited to Weisselberg,”
to reporting in the New York Times about payments made by Trump Org to Ivanka Trump,
and talks with Susanne Craig, investigative reporter for the New York Times, and Mary Trump,
the niece of Donald Trump, for insights.”
“The Supreme Court has upheld a set of Arizona laws
that restrict voting access for people of color.
Legal experts Elie Mystal and Neal Katyal warn that this ruling threatens both voting rights and potentially protections from other forms of discrimination.” (ReidOut)
I don’t know if this is being widely reported but here in South Florida, @POTUS has made a huge impact with his presence and empathy. This is the brother of someone missing in Surfside. Grateful to for the comfort and humanity shown to all the families affected 💔#Surfsidepic.twitter.com/1ELgn9HI2U

“Joe Biden ‘proud’ of way Sha’Carri Richardson handled positive marijuana test, but ‘rules are rules'”
President Biden:
“Everybody knows what the rules are going in,” Biden told reporters Saturday in Michigan.
“Whether they should remain that way, whether that should remain the rule, is a different issue.
Rules are rules.” (USA Today)
—Yes because it’s currently legal doesn’t make it right. Jim Crow laws were legal and they’re coming back. Let’s just say plenty of atrocities have been LEGAL in the past.
That headline is bulls#!+. They were livestreaming and specifically stated that they WERE NOT claiming to be sovereign citizens.
The Dred Scott decision is still alive and well in the USA. Armed white men can in the western states can have a stand off with the Bureau of Land Management, or take over state houses without repercussion; yet similarly armed Black men, traveling to a retreat, have the full force of the law come down on their heads.
This bleach scented troglodyte presented “strong (acrylic) nails & hair” as exhibit A to prove that the athletic prowess of Black women must be due to “steroid use.”
Half the trees in Canada just got lit on fire by a global warming-induced heatstorm and hardly anybody is talking about it because an oil company set the ocean on fire and the only person who got in trouble for lighting up is Sha'Carri Richardson?

There have been multiples laws, Constitutional Amendments, and SCOTUS decisions designed to clarify the status of the sons and daughters of former enslaved people–NONE of them have been enough … We are reminded of that with the latest SCOTUS decision that takes another bite out of the VRA…It is a sad state of affairs when your rights and liberties can be legislated away….
However….We will continue to fight…as did our ancestors before us…because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate…not just for us…but for our children and our children’s children
Yesterday's Supreme Court ruling in the Voting Rights Act case proves a longstanding truth about this country: you can have a free and fair democracy, or you can conservatives in charge of the judiciary, but you can't have both. My latest in @thenationhttps://t.co/zbcv1TbfNQ
There is nothing that can be done about these people and their persistent attacks on voting rights other than to expand the court to dilute their influence. Congress can’t just pass a law, because conservative justices will overrule that law or limit it to the point that it loses all value. Congress can’t amend the Constitution, because, as we’ve seen, conservatives are entirely able to ignore constitutional amendments. (Even the comparatively simple poll tax amendment was ignored by conservative justices last year when the state of Florida reinstituted just such a tax for people who had been incarcerated.) We can’t elect “better leaders” at the state level who will refuse to pass voter suppression laws, because conservative courts have allowed Republicans to gerrymander districts to weaken minority voting rights. And we can’t elect better leaders at the national level because the Senate and the Electoral College bake in white minority rule through the unequal representation of the Senate, which itself is a constitutional hangover from a “great compromise” with slaveholders.
The only solution is to protect voting rights by expanding the courts with judges and justices who will protect voting rights, and then hope and pray that enough people avail themselves of their rights that the white supremacist rump of the Republican Party never gets full control of all three branches of government again. That is the way. That is the only way. I know that is the only way, because we’ve tried every other way.
The dissent offered by Justice Kagan reads as a civics lesson about the myriad of ways that White men, from before the Civil War until the present, have had advantages at the ballot box. https://t.co/hDk76crJMK
Thanks to a newly signed law in Connecticut, there are now no states that distinguish between probation and parole when it comes to eligibility to vote. https://t.co/AA4VaWt3zN

Expedition 65 July4th Message – July 4, 2021
“Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65
Flight Engineers Megan McArthur, Shane Kimbrough and Mark Vande Hei of NASA
recorded a message June 19 for the nation’s celebration of its 245th birthday from their orbital vantage point 252 miles above Earth. McArthur and Kimbrough launched to the station in April in a SpaceX Crew Dragon atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket just two weeks after Vande Hei launched to the complex aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft.”
If we aren’t willing to fight fire-with-fire to protect our democracy, protect our right to vote, I don’t know what else we are going to fight for. This is the most important fight we’re going to have. If we don’t win this one, we sure as hell aren’t going to win the other ones. pic.twitter.com/CW4DR76ErZ
This guy gave a speech that not only acknowledged the crimes he is accused of but that also told his supporters he did it because he is better and more financially fortunate than they are. Strangely, they will still support him.https://t.co/JEUaAUO7cy
I love how this is framed as a Biden “failure” while an entire opposition party apparatus is basically telling their followers to blow it off. There are GOP members of Congress that refuse to get vaccinated. 67% is a freaking miracle against the idiot forces at work today. https://t.co/LSOv6nYlGv
The ceremony bore few of the political overtones that became a hallmark of Trump team visits.
Mookie Betts, star outfielder for the 2018 champion Red Sox, did not make that team's trip to the White House. But Betts, now on the Dodgers, did attend Friday. https://t.co/sfFnkTJuNv

At the rate they are being elected to the office even in left wing nations, I have lost hope. They bring out the basest instincts of people to attain power.
President Biden deserves widespread credit for how he is handling the pandemic. A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows 62% approve. 31% disapprove. The 31% must be the people not getting vaxxed but were happy to pocket their stimulus check.
Rescue crews and relatives of those still missing are scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden on Thursday, in a visit many are hoping will provide some measure of comfort to a devastated community. https://t.co/HqvT7tqjkJ
In the wake of the SCOTUS ruling further weakening the Voting Rights Act, take a look at how one Republican in Michigan was subjected to harsh attacks from within his own party for simply acknowledging the validity of the election results in his state.https://t.co/pJt84RbqTZ
Over 180 wildfires are burning in Canada's British Columbia, many sparked by over 12,000 lightning strikes over the weekend.
The area reported 719 deaths last week amid the heatwave — 3x the average. A village that set Canada's highest ever temperature is 90% burned by fires. pic.twitter.com/qXxgN5btC2
Love is love, but I can’t imagine the right wing SCOTUS making the same decision with its current members.
Congrats Judith on First 👍🏾😎

Not to mention that prez fuckface inherited a booming economy from President Obama and President Biden inherited a dumpster fire full of shit.
More than half a million killed in the traitorous thug regime’s gross wilful dereliction of duty and yet 40% murkkkans ‘approve’.
There is no redemption coming down the path. Forget it.
