    “Go under the domes.”
Kylie McKenzie (KOCH-run research advocacy group) — his comments were caught on tape.
He reported at their billionaire meeting that Americans across all party lines:
    1) want access to the ballot.
    2) want to get rid of dark money in politics.

WOW. In light of having no good arguments to make, McKenzie concludes that the matter of HR1/SR1
will have to go “Under the domes”. Meaning it falls to their people in Congress to kill it.

    • March 31, 2021 at 2:09 pm

Jane Mayer (New Yorker) thanks Rachel Maddow for playing the remarkable big money ‘backroom’ tape.
      Maddow:
“But let me just ask you if this is their MO,
if this is the type of call, the type of research that these groups generally do, the type of message testing they do when they set out on a new political objective?”
      Mayer:
“Well, absolutely. I mean this is the complete playbook.
I mean, you have to understand that these groups are funded by some of the wealthiest people in the country, billionaires. And they have endless resources. So they can do all kinds of research and market testing. And they look for the best possible selling line.
And what was so extraordinary at least to me – I nearly fell off my chair when I listened to this –
was they tried testing an argument against themselves basically! They tried testing against a bill where the other argument was, it will stop billionaires from buying elections. Billionaires like themselves. And they could not find an argument that convinced the public that it was a better thing to have the billionaires buying the elections.
And that included not just liberal Democrats or even moderates, but amazingly it also included conservatives who also it turns out, don’t really want billionaires buying American elections.
So, they were so frustrated by this.
They lamented in the tape. And they talk about how basically ‘You really shouldn’t engage with this argument because you can’t win it. It’s better just to go inside the dome…and we’ll just have to put the fix in, in Congress.’

    • March 31, 2021 at 2:12 pm

      Maddow:
“But when they were talking about an “Under The Dome” strategy,
(meaning) that you can’t engage with the public on this. Instead you need an “under the dome strategy”. What does that mean? Does that mean essentially a technical fight, and obstructionist fight in Washington that you can hopefully keep away from the public eye?”
      Mayer:
“It probably means among other things, that they will use the filibuster…
they will need to filibuster the bill if they are going to stop it in Congress..(talks about Manchin).
Basically I think what they (the billionaires) are talking about is – the public be damned.
‘The voters may be in one place, but we can count on the people we fund to kill this for us. We can stop the bill by calling in our chips.’

    “Trump’s Mini-Me”.
“Mehdi Hasan On Florida Governor’s Pro-Covid, Anti-Democracy Efforts”
“[DeSantis] is clearly Trump’s mini-me when it comes to handling the coronavirus,” says Hasan.
“He’s as reckless and anti-science as Trump was. And that makes him as popular as ever with the conservative base that does not seem to care about mass death in this country.”

    • March 31, 2021 at 2:35 pm

DeSantis is responsible for his constituents’ avoidable deaths,
for sending COVID-19 around the country, creating the conditions for a 4th surge, and delaying the end of this pandemic. Surely this it is criminal to knowingly expose your constituents to a deadly disease.

is a non-fiction book written by the American investigative journalist Jane Mayer,
about a network of extremely wealthy conservative Republicans,
foremost among them Charles and David Koch,
who have together funded an array of organizations that work in tandem to influence academic institutions,
think tanks, the courts, statehouses, Congress,
and the American presidency for their own benefit.
Mayer particularly discusses the Koch family and their political activities,
along with Richard Mellon Scaife, John M. Olin, the Bradley brothers, the DeVos and Coors families and their related foundations.”

    The White House
A Proclamation on Transgender Day Of Visibility, 2021

“Today, we honor and celebrate the achievements and resiliency of transgender individuals and communities. Transgender Day of Visibility recognizes the generations of struggle, activism, and courage that have brought our country closer to full equality for transgender and gender non-binary people in the United States and around the world. Their trailblazing work has given countless transgender individuals the bravery to live openly and authentically. This hard-fought progress is also shaping an increasingly accepting world in which peers at school, teammates and coaches on the playing field, colleagues at work, and allies in every corner of society are standing in support and solidarity with the transgender community.

In spite of our progress in advancing civil rights for LGBTQ+ Americans, too many transgender people — adults and youth alike — still face systemic barriers to freedom and equality. Transgender Americans of all ages face high rates of violence, harassment, and discrimination. Nearly one in three transgender Americans have experienced homelessness at some point in life. Transgender Americans continue to face discrimination in employment, housing, health care, and public accommodations. The crisis of violence against transgender women, especially transgender women of color, is a stain on our Nation’s conscience.
The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to fulfilling the promise of America for all Americans by stamping out discrimination and delivering freedom and equality for all.

To ensure that the Federal Government protects the civil rights of transgender Americans, I signed, on my first day in office, an Executive Order on Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation. Today, we are proud to celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility alongside barrier-breaking public servants, including the first openly transgender American to be confirmed by the United States Senate, and alongside patriotic transgender service members, who are once again able to proudly and openly serve their country. We also celebrate together with transgender Americans across the country who will benefit from our efforts to stop discrimination and advance inclusion for transgender Americans in housing, in credit and lending services, in the care we provide for our veterans, and more.

To more fully protect the civil rights of transgender Americans, we must pass the Equality Act and provide long overdue Federal civil rights protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. The Equality Act will deliver legal protections for LGBTQ+ Americans in our housing, education, public services, and lending systems. It will serve as a lasting legacy to the bravery and fortitude of the LGBTQ+ movement.

Vice President Harris and I affirm that transgender Americans make our Nation more prosperous, vibrant, and strong. I urge my fellow Americans to join us in uplifting the worth and dignity of every transgender person.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2021, as Transgender Day of Visibility. I call upon all Americans to join in the fight for full equality for all transgender people.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirty-first day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-one, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-fifth.

    JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR.

  24. April 1, 2021 at 10:38 am

    President Biden
Introducing his $2 Trillion Infrastructure Plan:

“…It’s a vision not seen through the eyes of Wall Street or Washington,
but through the eyes of hard working people like the people I grew up with, people like Mike and his union family, union workers, from the carpenter’s training center, people like the folks I grew up with in Scranton and Claymont, Delaware, people would get up every day, work hard, raise their family, pay their taxes, serve their country, and volunteer for their communities….

We all will do better when we all do well.
It’s time to build our economy from the bottom up and from the middle out. Not the top down, it hadn’t worked very well. For the economy overall it hadn’t worked, because Wall Street didn’t build this country. You, the great middle class, built this country. And unions built the middle class. And it’s time. And this time, when we rebuild the middle class, we’re going to bring everybody along. Regardless your background, your color, your religion, [inaudible 00:09:43] Everybody gets to come along. So today I’m proposing a plan for the nation that rewards work, not just rewards wealth. It builds a fair economy that gives everybody a chance to succeed. And it’s going to create the strongest, most resilient, innovative economy in the world.

It’s not a plan that tinkers around the edges, it’s a once in a generation investment in America,
unlike anything we’ve seen or done since we built the interstate highway system and the space race decades ago. In fact, it’s largest American jobs investment since World War II. It’ll create millions of jobs, good paying jobs. It’ll grow the economy, make us more competitive around the world, promote our national security interest and put us in a position to win the global competition with China in the upcoming years.

It’s big, yes. It’s bold, yes. And we can get it done. It has two parts.
The American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan, both are essential to our economic future.
In a few weeks, I’ll talk about the American’s Family Plan.
But today I want to talk about the Americans Jobs Plan.

FACT SHEET: The American Jobs Plan

“While the American Rescue Plan is changing the course of the pandemic and delivering relief for working families, this is no time to build back to the way things were. This is the moment to reimagine and rebuild a new economy. The American Jobs Plan is an investment in America that will create millions of good jobs, rebuild our country’s infrastructure, and position the United States to out-compete China. Public domestic investment as a share of the economy has fallen by more than 40 percent since the 1960s. The American Jobs Plan will invest in America in a way we have not invested since we built the interstate highways and won the Space Race.

The United States of America is the wealthiest country in the world, yet we rank 13th when it comes to the overall quality of our infrastructure.”

Spoke out yesterday at Georgia State Capitol.

  50. April 2, 2021 at 12:48 pm

State Rep. Park Cannon (D) GA:
“When the late Congressman John Lewis took my hand,
marched with me to the Fulton County Government Center and voted with me in 2016,
and helped me understand why that was so important – I’ll never forget it.
But unfortunately today the only thing etched in my mind are two things:
    Why were they arresting me?
    Why were they doing that?
And the photo of 6 all white men under a photo of a plantation,
taking away Black and Brown voters rights, as well as all voters rights.”

Jemele Hill (Atlantic) speaks to Mehdi Hasan.
      Hasan:
“What do you make of the fact that here is a state representative making some pretty eloquent arguments there. And when she goes to try and witness the signing of the bill, this state representative, this Black woman, is dragged away by police arrested and charged – in 2021?”

      Hill:
“Well I hope people are thinking about this image of this lawmaker being taken out, this Black lawmaker, this Black woman, by male police officers. And think about it in the context of what we witnessed at the Capitol. That on January 6th we saw a bunch of white people, some of them armed, being let into one of our most sacred places of which they destroyed and they disrespected. And if they had it their way, they would have done something far more nefarious than what actually occurred on government grounds. So the white people were allowed to storm a Capitol. This Black woman who is a paid elected official was disrespected and thrown out, just from wanting to WITNESS what was happening in her place of work.

And so I just find this to be one of those examples, where we as a country have to ask ourself what are we doing and what are we really about? Because if you’re this proud of this bill. If this is about election security as Brian Kemp has claimed – the governor of Georgia – then why wouldn’t you allow her to witness it?
If it’s so up and up?

But see, this is also about continuing to intimidate people of color, especially Black people.
Showing force and showing intimidation, even for those who are elected officials.”
