Pls one thing. Donโ€™t drop the number on minimum wage down from $15 to try and get the gop vote. If you’re going to do that you should’ve set the number at $16, $17, $18, $19 or $20.
โ€”no number will be low enough for them.

If the filibuster is the only way, so be it.
$7.25 since 2009. Tipped wages at $2.13 since 1991. Will go on starving and overworking half of American families, causing suicide and death. Bring on the filibuster if that is what it takes!
–End the power over by the deadly minority.

    President Biden:
    50 Million COVID-19 Vaccines.

“And today Iโ€™m here to report weโ€™re halfway there.
15 million shots in just 37 days since Iโ€™ve become president. Thatโ€™s weeks ahead of schedule. Even with the setbacks we faced during the recent winter storms which devastated millions of Midwestern cities, towns, and also the same in the South. Weโ€™re moving in the right direction though despite the mess we inherited from the previous administration which left us with no real plan to vaccinate all Americans. And every time we administer another 50 million shots, Iโ€™m going to use that milestone and report to the American people on our vaccination program, on our overall fight against this pandemic. The good and the bad, Iโ€™ll tell you. The success and the failures.”

“And hereโ€™s the deal, hereโ€™s the deal. The story of this vaccination campaign is like the story of everything hard and new America does. Some confusion and setbacks at the start and then if we do the right things, we have the right plan to get things moving. Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re seeing right now. The weeks before I became president, the previous administration saw 6 million shots administered in the last week. This coming week, we will administer over 12 million shots, double the pace, in just six weeks that weโ€™ve been in office. Other milestones. Weโ€™ve increased vaccination distribution to states by 70%. Nearly 60% of people over the age of 75 have now received at least one shot. It was 14% six weeks ago. And close to 50% of people over the age of 65 have at least one shot now. It was 8%, six weeks ago. Itโ€™s important because people over 65 account for 80% of all the COVID deaths. Additionally, about 75% of the people who live in long-term facilities have gotten their first shot……”

“I took my shots publicly to demonstrate to the American people that itโ€™s safe and effective.
But the time is coming, maybe 60 to 90 days, when the supply is adequate but not enough people can access the shots or donโ€™t want them. To address that challenge, weโ€™re going to launch a massive campaign to educate people about vaccines, that they are safe and effective, and where to go to get those shots in the first place. And weโ€™re going to bring together leaders of all segments of our society to educate and encourage all Americans to get vaccinated. So I hope the Senate will soon confirm a key leader of that effort. My nominee for the Secretary of Health and Human Service, Xavier Becerra, who did so well in his hearing of this week. I hope Congress passes the American Rescue Plan which Iโ€™ve been pushing, which provides funds for everything we need to do to beat this pandemic and get the economy going again…”

Today is vaccine day for Mom! Wooot!

    • February 26, 2021 at 2:24 pm

Praise the Lord! I know you and your family are relieved! You should have your Mom register as your Dad’s caregiver; never know when some other bennie will be needed.

I share your joy; my Mom got her second dose on Wednesday! She’ll now be “off the sidewalk” and back at my dining room table. Think I’ll invite her to dinner next Sunday!

        February 26, 2021 at 3:20 pm

Girl, I canโ€™t believe it! We both got vaccinated! I thought Iโ€™d have to wait a few more weeks, but as we waited to drive through the tent for Mom, they asked if anyone else in the car needed a vaccine. My parents both pointed at me in unison and a guy came over to register me. I thought that was it and just Iโ€™d take the code number they gave me to go online and make an appointment, but a nurse looked at the tablet with my info, then came over and told me to roll up my sleeve. I think this is the only shot in my whole life Iโ€™ve been happy to take!

Thanks brp! Thanks to our President and Vice-President! The site where we went was run by FEMA. It was very well run. There were National Guard, Homeland Security and even GEMA (Georgiaโ€™s version of FEMA) staff on site. Even though the confirmation said not to come more than 15 minutes before the appointment time, we were expecting hours long lines, crowds of people and mass confusion. There was none of that. It was smooth and efficient like a well-oiled machine and everyone was professional and friendly.

After the VA blew her off, we had tried getting Mom on waiting lists just to get an appointment through Publix, CVS, a couple of hospitals, and even her doctorโ€™s office and itโ€™s been agonizing. Then this option was announced. Iโ€™m so glad we decided the hour long drive to the airport was worth it.

So happy for you and your family. My 91 year old, but sprightly, mom got her second dose about 2 weeks ago from the health dept. site. Two siblings have gotten both doses of the Pfizer vaccine. I am one dose in with the Moderna vaccine that I received from my neighborhood Walmart grocery; 2nd dose scheduled for 3/16. Remaining 2 family members while all are of a certain age, neither are in the first group to get the vaccine here in Fla.
Folks all over the country are celebrating like they won a large lottery after receiving the vaccine. So many were posting their CDC vaccination cards that warning had to go out regarding security. For many of us, getting the vaccination is better than any monetary lottery win because it it literally saving our lives.
So happy that the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been approved for emergency use. This will speed up the process .

    “Mary Winston Jackson (1921โ€“2005)
successfully overcame the barriers of segregation and gender bias to become a professional aerospace engineer and leader in ensuring equal opportunities for future generations.”

“Acting NASA Administrator Steve Jurczyk will lead a ceremony at 1 p.m. EST Friday, Feb. 26, officially naming the NASA Headquarters building in Washington in honor of Mary W. Jackson.:

“Jackson, the first African American female engineer at NASA, began her career with the agency in the segregated West Area Computing Unit of NASAโ€™s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Congresswoman Haaland.
“Recap: #DebForInterior confirmation hearing (Day 2)”:
“Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico) endured a second day of questions
as her historic confirmation hearing to be Secretary of the Interior finally came to a close.
As with the first day, most of the questions on Wednesday focused on energy development and the fossil fuels industry. And in an unusual development, Republicans dominated the hearing despite not being in control of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in the 117th Congress.
In fact, all 10 Republican members asked questions, with some even getting a third round of inquiries with Haaland, compared to just five Democrats.”
โ€œThis is all of our country.
    This is our mother,โ€
Haaland, who is a citizen of the Pueblo of Laguna,
an Indian nation based in New Mexico,
    told Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii).
โ€œItโ€™s difficult to not feel obligated to protect this land,โ€
    Haaland added.
โ€œI feel like every Indigenous person in this country understands this.โ€

Riding with my parents on the way to get Momโ€™s vaccine this rainy afternoon, we came to an intersection where a woman in a wheel chair held up a sign saying โ€œNeed help. Anything you can spare. Bless you.โ€ Thank goodness it wasnโ€™t pouring like it was an hour earlier. She had neither a hat nor an umbrella. While we were 3 cars back, Dad, who was driving quietly pulled out a small ziplock bag with a mask, some hand sanitizer and $20. I saw what he was doing and put in another $20 and a couple of granola bars. They shared a few seconds of small talk before the light changed. Do you know what the first thing she said was after โ€œThank you. God bless you?โ€ โ€”- โ€œIโ€™m gonna put this mask on right now.โ€ ๐Ÿฅฒ
Later I saw Dad has a whole stash of these special baggies in the console box for just such occasions. I love my parents so much. โค๏ธ

They also used God to oppress women here, there, and everywhere. I left a church many years ago because I was tired of weak ass men spending most of their time talking about women should be submissive and quiet and should not hold positions or duties that put them in front or to be seen in any public function. There were no female ushers, and no women in the pulpit for any reason. Women could only teach the Sunday school classes that were filled with women or children. The ironic thing is that the women were better educated and did a lot of the work behind the scenes. They had a hard time with an educated, independent woman who spoke up and could get things done. All of this happened in the Black Churches of Christ in Florida.
