I want to share this inspiring book about the events leading up to the 1960 election, from Dr. King's imprisonment to student activism in Atlanta to JFK's campaign. It's a story we can all learn from—a story of overlooked heroes and the power each of us has to create change. pic.twitter.com/yIaNJpRq7M
I am thinking it’s way past time to take the money out of politics, and take politics out of public service. This has become inhumane madness, as if We The People are utterly insignificant.
Even as we focus on fighting COVID-19, it’s important to recognize that there’s another pandemic raging right now—one that’s decades in the making and unique to the United States. We need to treat gun violence with the same urgency and resolve. https://t.co/3nD7uc194V
Manchin is ONE guy in a devastating moment for the country, let’s have it right.
Oh the boogey man…constituents in his state might get closer to a living wage.
Interesting that Republicans and Joe Manchin oppose the confirmations of Biden’s nominees who are: (1) Asian-American woman, (2) Native American woman and (3) Hispanic man. These are the same people who approved Jeff Sessions, Rick Grenell, Alex Azar, Brett Kavanaugh, et al.
U.S. Capitol Police Captain Carneysha Mendoza:
“recounts her experience defending the Capitol on Jan 6, and describes injuries she suffered during the attack.”
–The chemical burns on her face are still healing. No Johnson, this horrific event was not “festive”.
The Biden administration has withdrawn support for a Trump-backed federal lawsuit that seeks to ban transgender high school athletes from competing in girls sports.
HB 112 says you can only play high school sports in the gender you were assigned at birth.
This has passed the House in MT and is now in the Senate. It ignores the science and if passed would be unacceptably invasive for all athletes in school. Note that GOP bathroom bills failed spectacularly on all levels nationally. GOP has no policies so blaming the ills of society on transgender folks who are vulnerable easy targets, is how they rile up their Hate votes. These bills fail but they keep dragging them back, doing great harm – suicide is very high in the trans community.
HB 112 must be stopped.
GOP legislatures use zero science to support a slew of anti-transgender bills…
In MT once again the attempt to block gender affirming health care for transgender youth.
There are six LGBTQ related bills in the MT legislature:
HS 112 sports ban, HS 427 health care ban, SB 215 license to discriminate, SB 99, LC2997, SB 195.
SB 215: Allows people to claim that their religion allows them to discriminate.
–Romney gave this as a reason not to support the Equality Act.
Senator Klobuchar, Chairwoman of Rules Committee,

Eh very good ggail !! Guessing mine will be happen circa…this year….and it’s OK.

David Jolly to Hayes:
“With Lauren Boebert it’s this defense against ‘the big government’. On January 6th we saw a willingness to tackle ‘that government’. That’s where the danger of the republican party
moving from a party of less government
to one willing to undermine and knee-cap it.
…Tackle the government while leaders of the republican party are embracing this imagery (of guns in their videos) of the 2nd amendment.
And Chris, there are 2 major deceits that Republicans practice:
The first is they conflate fundamental rights with absolute rights.
Lauren Boebert did that in her rant before the Natural Resources Committee.
She suggested that owning guns and taking them into the Capitol is an absolute right.
That’s not the case.
All of our fundamental rights have certain restrictions.
Including the 2nd Amendment, including the First with speech, relgion, and so forth.
The second deceit by Republicans:
is they KNOW that there’s no legislation that would pass the House and be signed by President Biden, that would take away gun ownership from law abiding rightful citizens, their ability to own guns. And so they reframe it around this issue of ‘freedom’ – that democrats want to take your ‘freedom’ – in this imagery that they’re presenting.”

BREAKING: President Biden will nominate three Democrats to the USPS Board of Governors, a move that can lead to the Board replacing Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

BREAKING: Biden to nominate three people to the Postal Service Governing Board: a former postal exec, a leading voting rights advocate, and a former postal union leader. This gives dems the majority. Louis DeJoy is about to go through some things. #SaveTheUSPS
Pres. Biden is expected to fill 3 of the remaining seats on the U.S. Postal Service's board of governors, positions that have oversight of the postmaster general.
The expected appointees, two men of color and a woman, would greatly diversify the board. https://t.co/zRXMsPVZcs

“Parker Solar Probe Offers Stunning View of Venus”
““WISPR effectively captured the thermal emission of the Venusian surface,” said Brian Wood,
an astrophysicist and WISPR team member from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. “It’s very similar to images acquired by the Akatsuki spacecraft at near-infrared wavelengths.”
This surprising observation sent the WISPR team back to the lab to measure the instrument’s sensitivity to infrared light. If WISPR can indeed pick up near-infrared wavelengths of light, the unforeseen capability would provide new opportunities to study dust around the Sun and in the inner solar system.
If it can’t pick up extra infrared wavelengths, then these images — showing signatures of features on Venus’ surface — may have revealed a previously unknown “window” through the Venusian atmosphere.
“Lengthy List Of Questions Only Grows…”
“Rachel Maddow runs through some of the outstanding questions about the pro-Trump riot at the Capitol on January 6th and what investigators have learned about the people involved.”
I don’t believe he knows the difference between wishful thinking and truth, i.e. win by a landslide and lose big time. So, under oath or not, it will be the perennial lies.
President Biden:
Supply Chain Executive Order.
(Feb 24)
“The order I’m about to sign does two things. First, the order is a 100 day review of four vital products, semiconductors, one, key minerals and materials like rare earth that are used to make everything from harder steel to airplanes, three, pharmaceuticals and their ingredients, four, advanced batteries like the ones using electric vehicles. There’s strong bipartisan support after fast reviews of these four areas, because they’re essential to protecting and strengthening American competitiveness.
Second, this order initiates a longterm review of the industry basis of six sectors of our overall economy over the next year. These reviews will identify policy recommendations to fortify our supply chains at every step, and critically to start implementing those recommendations right away. We’re not going to wait for you to be completed before you start closing the existing gaps. And as we implement this work, my administration will draw on a full range of American talent, including labor and industry leaders, policy experts, scientists, farmers, engineers, to get their input.”
Hi! We’ve made it through February, almost, and I must say that I’ve had no incidents of apprehensions re governance. Ain’t that sweet? Continued wishes for a ‘Happy 2021’ to everyone.
Kat Blalock This is Sarah Boone. She was born into slavery and married a freedman at age 15. When her family relocated to New Haven Connecticut, she took up dressmaking as a profession. In the course of her work she noticed the difficulty of flattening out creases in the sleeves pic.twitter.com/1vLNqSsYVp
and bodies of women's dresses. Ironing at the time was done on a wooden plank propped between chairs or on the kitchen table. Sarah developed a design of a tapered board on a stand. By rotating the fabric around the board, it completely smoothed any portion of a dress.
As a result, her design was issued US Patent # 473,653 on April 26, 1892. Mrs Boone was one of the first Black American women to be issued a patent and her design for the ironing board is still used today. Author Kim Stambaugh
Sigh! I wonder who I thought needed to see this so many times?
Sorry, folks. I don’t know what’s the matter with my thought processes, or my online actions, these days. It’s one of the reasons I generally keep sooo quiet most of the time now.
Congresswoman Jayapal:
“talks with Maddow about the overwhelming popularity among American voters of all political stripes of raising the federal minimum wage to $15, and the need for Democrats to show they can get these important things done when they hold power in Washington, D.C.”
This line of thought does not speak to the fact that the GOP does not care about how many Americans support anything…aka background checks…because their voters vote for them anyway…aka 2020 elections…the issue remains for them…if you are thrashing those blk folks over there>>…that even if i have substandard wages…I am OK..
It’s long past time to get rid of the filibuster. We must remove Mitch McConnell’s veto power over broadly popular policies the American people want to see passed.
At a Democratic convention, this gilded troll doll would be used to ridicule the former guy, and maybe placed inside a rest room to hold paper towels. At CPAC, it's a fake-gold compliment to their dear leader, in front of which they can take a knee. I'm glad to be a Democrat!
Good Morning Everyone!
Thank you Nerdy!
