    Speaker Pelosi:
    “Dear Colleague: Security, Security, Security”
“It is clear from his findings and from the impeachment trial that we must get to the truth of how this happened.
To protect our security, our security, our security, our next step will be to establish an outside, independent 9/11-type Commission to “investigate and report on the facts and causes relating to the January 6, 2021 domestic terrorist attack upon the United States Capitol Complex… and relating to the interference with the peaceful transfer of power, including facts and causes relating to the preparedness and response of the United States Capitol Police and other Federal, State, and local law enforcement in the National Capitol Region.”

As we prepare for the Commission,
it is also clear from General Honoré’s interim reporting that we must put forth a supplemental appropriation to provide for the safety of Members and the security of the Capitol. We will be forever grateful to the Capitol Police for their life-saving courage and heroism in securing the Capitol and protecting Members.”

PBO: “Michelle and I are thinking of everyone across the country braving the winter storms this week.
Here’s an overview of how you can help—or, if you’re in Texas, where you can go to stay warm or get support.”

“How to help, and what to do if you need it, during Texas’ historic freeze”
“If you are in need of food, shelter or other help, consider these resources:
The Central Texas Food Bank announced it will remain closed Monday due to the weather. However, if you are in need of food in coming days you are encouraged to dial 2-1-1 or visit 211texas.org to get in touch with Texas Health and Human Services. The service should be able to connect those in need with a wide range of services, including food, shelter and mental health services.
Austin360 is updating this list with local restaurants and businesses that are offering free meals. If you can safely access one, be sure to check social media or contact the restaurant beforehand to ensure supplies.
If you are without a place to stay during this bout of extreme weather and at risk of exposure, call 512-305-ICEE to get the most up-to-date information about warming and cold weather shelters.”

    “Only the strong will survive”….
    resigned TX mayor tells locals.

“As much of Texas struggles with widespread power outages, different officials are responding in different ways. Gov. Greg Abbott (R), for example, is pushing ridiculous rhetoric about renewable energy.
But others have adopted an even less constructive approach. The Washington Post reported on developments in Colorado City, Tex., where locals had no power and no running water.

Boyd, who was Colorado City’s mayor, wrote (on FB):
    “No one owes you [or] your family anything;
nor is it the local government’s responsibility to support you during trying times like this!

Sink or swim it’s your choice.
The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING!
I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout!”

Boyd said people who lack power and water
should simply figure out a way to get power and water on their own,
without turning to public departments and agencies that ostensibly exist to meet the public’s needs.
He offered nothing in way of constructive guidance to struggling families.

“If you are sitting at home in the cold because you have no power
and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you
because your lazy is direct result of your raising,” Boyd wrote, without regard for grammar.
“Only the strong will survive and the weak will parish.”
