Not true for my school district re: plenty of funding here in CA even in a “rich” district. School buildings are old; poorly ventilated and would cost millions to fix. So I think that she’s overstating this issue and many of my fellow teachers are freaking out. I think this should not have come up until the information about how schools would be able to do the mitigation required is addressed, before talking about not vaccinating teachers. Big fail, I’m afraid. Lots of teachers are freaking out and feel sideswiped out of nowhere. I feel that the money in the American Rescue Plan will not be nearly enough for schools to reopen safely, so they’ll reopen and not vaccinate the teachers b/c of what the CDC just said. Kids are germ factories, they spread virus all the time (my pediatrician hubby says), so I don’t know what their control samples are and for the many, many students who have been at home this whole time, how vulnerable will they actually be when actively involved with other kids. How can you keep them 6 feet apart (do you move the lockers?); how can you teach classes of 35-38 kids per day, if you split the classes, how many hours will you be teaching then? Where’s the plexiglass which should go between students and surround teacher desks? How much will that cost?
I don’t hear them talking about all that mitigation. It’s just a word that districts can conveniently ignore in their haste to get kids back in the classroom at the expense of the teachers; that’s how I think it will go. I hope I am totally, completely wrong and I have to eat every word.

A lot of the rules that Republicans are trying to change were put in place *by* Republicans for the benefit of Republicans. So we know that viruses mutate.
We know that they change their genetic code, often every time they replicate. RNA viruses mutate frequently. We expected mutations and we expected variants. Usually when there’s a variant that becomes predominant, it’s because it has some advantage to the virus, whether it’s because it’s increasingly transmissible, whether it’s because it has increased mortality, or because it can escape our vaccines and our treatments.
We know that some of the variants have increased transmissibility. There’s increasing data that suggests that some of the variants, the B117 variant, may lead to increased mortality. And the jury is still out with regard to how these vaccines are going to work with regard against these variants.”

Thomas L. Jennings – Inventor of Dry Cleaning Process
Thomas Jennings was the first black man to receive a patent. The patent was awarded on March 3, 1821 (US Patent 3306x) for his discovery of a process called “dry-scouring” which was the forerunner of today’s modern dry-cleaning.
The patent to Jennings generated considerable controversy during this period. Slaves at this time could not patent their own inventions; their effort was the property of their master. This regulation dated back to the US patent laws of 1793. The regulation was based on the legal presumption that “the master is the owner of the fruits of the labor of the slave both manual and intellectual.” Patent courts also held that slaves were not citizens and therefore could not own rights to their inventions. In 1861 patent rights were finally extended to slaves.
Thomas Jennings, however, was a free man and thus was able to gain exclusive rights to his invention and profit from it. Jennings was a passionate abolitionist who used the income from his invention to free the rest of his family from slavery and fund abolitionist causes. He served as assistant secretary of the First Annual Convention of the People of Color which met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in June 1831.
Sincere apologies for using the term “shaman” that way.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is preparing a welter of amendments to a budget resolution essential to passing President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 stimulus package in a grueling “vote-a-rama” on Thursday.
Democrats have signaled that they will press ahead to pass the $1.9 trillion stimulus without GOP support using budget reconciliation, a process that prevents filibustering and would allow the bill to pass with a simple majority of 51 votes.
However, the price for using this measure is having to receive a barrage of amendments from the GOP to the budget resolution needed to pass the stimulus, which is likely to keep the Senate debating for hours.
Amendments include:
• whether taxpayers should fund checks for illegal immigrants
• whether Democrats should raise taxes on small businesses in the midst of this historic crisis
• whether generous federal funding should pour into school districts where the unions refuse to let schools open
• measures to preserve former President Donald Trump’s southern border wall
• plan to reverse Biden’s decision to halt the Keystone XL pipeline

Capitol rioter may not be getting her Mexico trip after all???
Ah ok. My bad, I thought she had permission to go on vacay too.
I had never heard otherwise until today.
The shaman QAnon guy cares for his own body (wants organic food in jail)
but cares not for the lives of the entire Congressional body.
Sincere apologies for using the term “shaman” that way.
(The insurrectionist above apparently refers to himself that way.) There’s a lot of assumptions and wrong assumptions about this term, and how it applies to different parts of the world. My understanding is that as it applies to North America, the primary focus is to heal. Someone i was fortunate to know in the interior of B.C. is still beloved shaman and medicine man in his community. A wonderful guy.
He was not spoken about in those term but as “Elder” and by his name.

Secretary Blinken: “No one has ever brought as much foreign policy expertise and experience to the presidency as Joe Biden.”
“And I know from watching him in action that he believes profoundly in leading with diplomacy.”
Subpoena him.
Good boy!!
“I Believe I’ve Been Cleared’: Florida Man and Alleged Capitol Hill Insurrectionist Who Bragged About Acing FBI Interview Is Charged With Multiple Federal Crimes”
https://lawandcrime.com/u-s-capitol-siege/i-believe-ive-been-cleared-florida-man-and-alleged-capitol-hill-insurrectionist-who-bragged-about-acing-fbi-interview-is-charged-with-multiple-federal-crimes/
A Florida man who used Instagram and Facebook to post about his participation in the pro-Trump siege of the U.S. Capitol Complex last week was charged with four federal crimes on Friday.
Notably, one of those posts contained his stated belief that he had recently aced an interview with federal agents.
Camargo was charged with the following crimes: (1) one count of 18 U.S.C. 231(a)(3) (civil disorder); (2) one count of 18 U.S.C. 1752(a)(1) (entering and remaining in a restricted building); (3) one count of 18 U.S.C. 1752(a)(2) (disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building); and (4) one count of 40 U.S.C. 5104(e)(2)(F) (act of physical violence in a Capitol building).
If convicted as charged, he faces more than 25 years in prison.
Like, a coup and claims of election fraud.
”Myanmar coup:
What is happening and why?”
“Myanmar hit headlines around the world on Monday when its military seized control.
The country’s leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, and members of her party are thought to be under house arrest.”
“The military is now back in charge and has declared a year-long state of emergency.
It seized control following a general election which Ms Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD) party won by a landslide.
The armed forces had backed the opposition, who were demanding a rerun of the vote,
claiming widespread fraud.”
So he is just wasting everyone’s time for the hell
of it. Idiot.
Hero!!
Good for him. GOP legislators believe they can take away executive authority when Democrats are in the position.
That’s what you call “bald-faced lying”
Shay’s got jokes…
So if you are a friend, help her to seek mental health guidance.
–Herself or someone around her could suffer the fallout on a ‘bad day’.
Liz didn’t say that; Shay was joking. “Hunting” was alluding to her daddy shooting a friend with buckshot…
Speaker Pelosi said,
“In terms of acknowledging the threat from within,
I remain profoundly concerned about house Republican leadership acceptance of extreme conspiracy theorists, their eagerness to reward a Qanon adherent, a 9/11 truther, a harasser of school shooting victims, and to give them valued committee positions, including who could imagine they would put such a person on the education committee. The House will vote to remove Representative Greene from her positions. It’s unfortunate.
You would think that the Republican leadership in the Congress would have some sense of responsibility to this institution. As they did when they did not seek Representative King of Iowa. For some reason, they have chosen not to go down that path, even though we gave Mr. Hoyer — Mr. Hoyer gave leader McCarthy sufficient notice this is a path we would follow.”

Or any of their colleagues?
Proof of fucking liz cheney was always a fucking rethug asshole.

Cultists racists
Hey Buddy! Good to see ya! 😃
Hi ya.
Thought you blew us off after Inaug. Glad you’re back.

So sad that he is no longer here.

“Swamped by thousands of complaints over lost or delayed mail, Rep. Donald McEachin (D-VA) is leading an intensifying push in Congress to replace U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and, if necessary, the entire governing board of the U.S. Postal Service,” the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Thursday.
He is a seditious corrupt thug. Charge him.
Yeah, let’s just sweep this all under the rug. Unity!
But what if soldiers are becoming radicalized while they’re in the service?
They know it. The ones that don’t accept it are rescinding their party membership. The rest are taking advantage of the benefits of being under the party umbrella as the radicals/cultists take over.
Dr. Fauci…godsend, delightfully timeless….thank you.
Leadership looks like this.
“Some top-ranking party members, including Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, have expressed support for restrictions on absentee voting. Republicans control both chambers of the General Assembly, but there isn’t yet an agreement on how far those restrictions should go.”
Probably trying to figure out what they can do to suppress Democratic/POC votes with little to no impact to Republican voters. They can’t get around that whatever they do will affect ALL voters.
Yay Dr. Kizzy! 💉
Another reminder of the previous administration’s incompetence and cruelty.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib 🥺
yussss.
Loving the new kick ass dems. The seditious treasonous traitor thug was the ultimate straw that broke the dam.
And looks like zero thugs voted for the package, including the so called “moderates”.
Good Morning Family! Look at what our Democratic Senate and MVP have done for you this morning!
😆😆😆
Hmmmm
Not sure if her behavior would be any different than it would be if she were still on committees. But she is showing how sincere she was (NOT) in her floor speech. It sounds like she’s getting ready to crank up the crazy and 190+ Republicans have said they are okay with it.
New post.
