When you tweet about my father’s birthday, remember that he was resolute about eradicating racism, poverty & militarism.
Encourage & enact policies that reflect your birthday sentiments.
Here’s the authentic #MLK:pic.twitter.com/eCJWCVnD1k
If anyone had a right to question whether our democracy was worth redeeming, it was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Because in the face of billy clubs and lynchings, poll taxes and literacy tests, he never gave in to violence, never waved a traitorous flag or gave up on our country. pic.twitter.com/TCmbuiXkUa

On #MLKDay, we celebrate his life but we’re also called to live out his values through service of our own. Here are some ways you can get involved in your community: https://t.co/r9IGEW5dpD

I always look at the quotes that people choose to post today on #MLKDay. When I see white folks post the "Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that" I cringe a little. B/c that's one of the top ones used out of context to scold us for our anger at white supremacy.

As you honor my father today, please honor my mother, as well. She was the architect of the King Legacy and founder of @TheKingCenter, which she founded less than three months after Daddy died. Without #CorettaScottKing, there would be no #MLKDay. #MLK #BelovedCommunity pic.twitter.com/cLvgTjeUwE

Happy MLK Day and Inauguration Eve’s Eve! Thank you, Nerdy!
TOD is the place to be to celebrate together! Congrats Dudette,
Hi Judith! Yes it is! Thanks! 🙌🏾

Dr. King: “Noncooperation with evil is as much a moral obligation as is cooperation with good.”
Love to the King family. May there be peace, justice, and equality in this country and around the world.
He’s amazing.

Hmmmm….something’s up
Fox News host John Roberts confirmed that the outgoing president will not issue “protective” pardons for himself or his family.
“Sources with knowledge of the process tell @FoxNews that President Trump is NOT EXPECTED to issue ‘protective’ pardons to members of his family, and is NOT expected to attempt a protective pardon for himself,” Roberts revealed.
White House attorneys have reportedly urged the president not to pardon himself or his family. Some advisers fear that controversial pardons could increase the chances of a guilty verdict at Trump’s upcoming Senate impeachment trial.
Because they’re illegal, most likely.
“My administration will move Heaven and Earth to:
– Allow more people to get vaccinated
– Create more places for them to get vaccinated
– Mobilize more medical teams to get shots in arms
– Increase vaccine supply and get it out the door as soon as possible”
(President Elect Biden)
Yay Dr. FLOTUS! 💐
As a person who grew up idolizing Jackie Kennedy as a First Lady, I am so grateful for this.
Dr. David Kessler,
Biden COVID-19 Advisory Board Co-Chair, fmr FDA Commissioner, soon to lead America’s Covid vaccination program speaking to Maddow.
Maddow:
“What should we understand as a country about the new plan that you will be leading, that the Biden Administration will be doing to turn this vaccination effort around?”
Dr. Kessler:
“This is a national emergency and we need to treat it like one. This is going to require 24/7 operation. We need more vaccination sites, we need to harness the full resources of the Federal Government to set up with the states’ community vaccination centers. With federal support we will need to mobilize thousands of clinical and non-clinical professionals. We will need to launch a new partnership with community health centers. We’re going to fully activate pharmacies. And you have a President of the United States who is fully in, and as he said today, “We will manage the Hell out of this operation.”
Maddow:
“How much of what you are planning to do, that complex operation that you’re talking about, needs support from Congress? And how much of it is stuff that can you start putting into place on Day One, simply with Executive action?”
Dr. Kessler:
“It’s a combination of both. There are things we’re ready to do, transparency with the states, letting them know what kind of supply they will get on a consistent basis. But as the President Elect just said today, there is a request and a very important request for the resources to stand up these centers.”
Maddow:
“In terms of standing up those centers, it’s been reported, it’s been described that it’s possible that FEMA or the National Guard could be used in terms of setting up those kind of centers, particularly large scale centers like that. Is that something that we should expect? Do you think that’s the right kind of personnel, the right kind of logistics operators who would make sense for that kind of operation?”
Dr. Kessler:
“I think they can be very helpful in certain aspects of the logistics. But at the end of the day you want a health professional. You want people in your community who are going to give you the vaccine. We need to do this with the states. This has to have the full resources of the Federal Government. But this has to be done with the states in true partnership.”
Maddow:
“Do you have a handle yet on why states have repeatedly been told that they’re getting doses that they don’t get? We have seen a couple of what appear to be federal government failures, in terms of promising states that something was coming, the states planning accordingly, and then being told at the last minute that those doses weren’t going to be there. These are fragile systems in the states. They’re setting them up, they’re trying to build those airplanes while they’re flying as well. It seems to have been a devastating frustration for the states. Do you have a handle on why that’s happened and how to stop that from happening again?”
Dr. Kessler:
“Rachel I need in favor. In 4 more days we need to get in there, we need to roll up our sleeves,
we really need to get to the bottom of these questions. And we will be up front and give you the answers. Look Moderna has shipped some 14 million vaccines, Pfizer some 15 million vaccines. There’s been a total of about 30 million that have been shipped. But we only have a about 12.3 million people who have been vaccinated. So…vaccines in freezers. We have to get vaccines in arms. And we’ve got to bring both the resources and the transparency to the problem.”
Maddow:
“Dr. Kessler in a previous life I was an AIDS activist when you were the FDA Commissioner,
a million years ago. And as the Head of the FDA at the time, you really moved mountains to get pioneering complex drugs called protease inhibitors approved and into doctors’ offices to treat people with HIV. And those drugs and the speed at which you were able to move saved the lives of a lot of people that I knew. And so you are burned into my mind from that time in American history. Because of that I was really interested to see that part of your remit now, part of what President Elect Biden has tasked you with, is not just keeping Americans from getting Covid by getting them vaccinated, but also developing treatment options to keep people alive if they do get infected and they do get sick. I feel like we’ve heard so little about that comparatively. What should we understand about that effort?”
Dr. Kessler:
“First just a little edit if I can Rachel.
We accelerated the approval process, it was really a team.
A team, Dr. Fauci was part of it, the AIDS community, the late Larry Kramer, and Greg Gonzalez, I mean everybody worked together. And one of the things you just need to know is that the President Elect has put together really an incredible team here. This isn’t about me at all. There’s Dr. Murthy, there’s Dr. Walensky, there’s Dr……., there’s Dr. O’Connor, Jeff Zients, Andy Slavitt was named today, absolutely brilliant. There’s a real team and that’s what it takes.
But to your question, you remember in 1991 we got there, there was one drug for HIV, there was AZT and it didn’t work very well. And people were dying. And there was an intense focus, we set out the policy together, it was called Accelerated Approval. We gave the pharmaceutical industry a roadmap, and we sat there in 1996 when the protease inhibitor data came. It was small molecules and they changed the course of that epidemic. And the important lesson – it wasn’t just one antiviral, it was a combination. So you need to get companies to work together. The President Elect in the plan has an effort for a national antiviral program. It’s absolutely essential. There will be people who have been vaccinated. There will be some cases, we know it’s 95% effective, that sounds great but one out of 20 people will still be at risk. There are people who may be immune suppressed. There’s going to be other viruses down the road, we know that. So we have to have a major antiviral program. And we need to do together Rachel, what we did for HIV. We didn’t do it overnight there, it took time. But we changed the course of that epidemic, and it’s another very important tool in our armamentarium.”

I’m sure he will.
Already on the list for the first day of this to do
Aaand here comes the loony left. Fuck’em.
The other day I was watching a video on Youtube about former Presidents. I was a bit surprised to learn that former Presidents also receive security briefings, I’m might not sure if they receive them on a daily basis or not. But just the fact that they receive them is good to know. This is why it is critically important that Trump is tried and ultimately impeached, once impeached a President losses all the perks that former Presidents enjoy. The thought of Trump receiving a briefing and using that information for monetary gain is something that we cannot risk.
I with you, Don. That traitor should never receive any briefings.

With a dem majority, why getting Biden nominees approved is a problem?
NASA has work to do if they really want to honor Dr. King!
Traitor
😭😭😭
Don’t know where he’ll end up, but I like the signs that he’s leaving the WH…
There’s a Twilight Zone episode in which a crook dies, he wakes up and judging by his surroundings he thinks he’s in heaven. He can’t believe it, he gets everything he wants from food to women to money. Every desire is fulfilled, and soon he grows tired of getting everything he wants. As he reflects back on his life he can’t think of a single thing that he did that would have landed him in heaven, he tells his guide that he doesn’t believe that he’s in the right place. His guide responds back and says “you are in the right place.” He then says I think you guys made a mistake and I think I belong in the other place. His guide then says to him “whatever makes you think this isn’t the other place, this is the other place.” Every time I watch that particular episode it makes me think of people that have the power to do good. Each of us has the power to do good, or at the very least, the power to do no harm.
Too bad there are some that only do good (or do no harm) if there’s a direct benefit for them.
Yet, this is considered to be a *peaceful* protest?!?!?!?
How convenient ….
Well, well, well, the plot thickens.

Speaker Pelosi:
Statement on Biden-Harris Administration National Vaccine Strategy
With this plan, President-elect Biden is sending a powerful message to the American people: Help Is On the Way.
“The Biden-Harris vaccine plan is a 180-degree reversal from the disastrous vaccine distribution failure of the Trump Administration. Instead of the Trump Administration’s abandoning of state and local governments, the Biden plan works hand-in-hand with our partners to immediately stop the accelerating spread of the virus, including by:
-Getting more people vaccinated: encouraging states to allow more people to be vaccinated including individuals 65 and older as well as frontline workers and ensuring equity throughout the vaccination process to reach those in hard-to-reach, marginalized communities.
-Creating more vaccination sites: creating new federally-supported community vaccination centers, fully reimbursing state deployment of the National Guard to support vaccination, launching mobile vaccination clinics and partnerships to reach underserved and high-risk communities, and making vaccines available in pharmacies.
-Increasing supply and distribution: ensuring a robust vaccine supply and spur manufacturing, providing actionable data on vaccine allocation timelines and delivery, and increasing vaccine availability while maintaining a commitment to the two-dose schedule.
-Mobilizing more personnel to get shots in arms: surging the public health workforce to support the vaccination effort and mobilizing public health jobs program to support COVID-19 response, all in a culturally competent way.
-Ensuring that the American people have the information and confidence to get vaccinated: launching a federally led and locally focused public education campaign.
“The Democratic House stands ready to work with the Biden-Harris Administration to immediately launch this plan.” (more: speaker.gov)
President Elect Joe Biden:
“Look, our plan is as clear as it is bold. Get more people vaccinated for free. Create more places for them to get vaccinated, mobilize more medical teams to get the shots in peoples arms, increase supply and get it out the door as soon as possible. This will be one of the most challenging operational efforts ever undertaken by our country.
But you have my word, and we will manage the hell out of this operation.”
