Holy Cow, NW! Where did you find this picture? How have we all missed it? How did Chips miss this one? Thank you!

My Covid test was negative as I was sure it would be. Yet, the peace of mind is good.

The tweet reminds me of our family. Husband’s niece lost her dad and husband in a 2.5 week time span. How many times do we have to say: It didn’t have to be this way. It never should have been this way. It is hard to fathom what Joe and Kamala are walking into. May they be given strength, wisdom, keen awareness. understanding and guidance from numerous wise people.

Yup, all the ‘checks and balances’ have been proved to be hollow claims in the last 4 years for treasonous and traitorous regime. More legal protections for overseers and whistleblowers and stricter check of presidential abuse of power including pathetic pardons.

Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has been knighted in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.

The Briton, 35, sealed a seventh drivers’ title at the Turkish Grand Prix in November – equalling Michael Schumacher’s championships record.

The 35 year old was made an MBE in 2008 after winning his first F1 championship.

But the Monaco-based driver was reportedly previously overlooked for the top honour amid questions about his tax arrangements. This year Motorsport UK launched a campaign with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Formula One for him to be nominated, with the organisation suggesting his business dealings had been “misunderstood”.

At the end of the day, their vote wasn’t because they support the $2000. It was for the optics in hopes of gaining favor with Georgia’s electorate. They already conspired with McConnell to know that them coming out in favor or even voting for the increase wouldn’t make a difference because the amendment would fail in the Senate… either there would not be enough votes, or if there are enough votes, McConnell would keep it from coming up for a vote.

On Joe Biden’s first day as President, his White House will issue a memo to halt or delay midnight regulations and actions taken by the Trump administration that will not have taken effect by Inauguration Day.

Issuing a regulatory freeze is standard practice for an incoming administration, “but this freeze will apply not only to regulations but also guidance documents — documents that can have enormous consequences on the lives of the American people.”

Trump’s political appointees are planning an array of last-minute federal regulations ahead of Biden’s inauguration, including rules that would tighten immigration, make it harder to enforce environmental protections and possibly eliminate food assistance for millions of Americans.

Department of Labor was expected to publish [a rule] before January 20 “that would make it easier for companies to call their workers independent contractors to avoid minimum wage and overtime protections.” She criticized the rule, saying it would make it easier to “misclassify employees as independent contractors” and cost workers money, and said the memo would potentially freeze the rule and not allow it to be implemented.

    Timothy Snyder:
“”Senator Hawley knows that the claims he’s making are not true,” Snyder told Mehdi Hasan…
“He knows that he is, in effect, endorsing a conspiracy theory. He knows that what he’s doing is endorsing a story in which Mr. Trump is the victim. Mr. Trump has been stabbed in the back, and from the point of view of American history and American voters, the sad — the tragic thing about this is that the real victims in the history of American voters are the people whose votes are not counted — African Americans, historically.”

According to President Donald Trump, it’s the “cities” and “urban” areas that “stole” the election.
What that’s code for is Black people. Many Trump allies have shown county maps that went blue, lamenting that it shouldn’t be possible that so few counties went for Biden, yet he won the presidency. What they neglect to understand is that the population has shifted significantly over the past several decades and rural areas are dying. There just isn’t the population there that once was.

“So, what Nr. Hawley is doing, and that is what is shameful about it for him, I think as a young man, as a white man, it’s shameful to stand up there and endorse the claim that Black people voting is fraud,” Snyder said. “But in addition to the moral shame of it, there is the political consequences. When you make claims like this, you’re basically saying, ‘The other side has cheated, and so we’re going have to cheat the next time around.'”

Hasan asked about the allegations that these attempts by the GOP could be considered an attempted coup d’etat. Technically, the only way it could be a coup d’etat is if Biden was already in power.
But, Snyder said that it wasn’t hyperbole.

“I think there is no problem at all calling this a coup or a self-coup or an attempted coup,” Snyder explained.
“The only thing which is a little bit different about this, historically speaking, is how much of it Mr. Trump broadcast in advance. He spent six or seven months before November telling us how he would try to throw the election after November, and he did basically all the things he said he was going to do. I mean, for people who think the military has to be involved, it’s not for lack of trying.””

All 74 million of his voters were conned? No, millions knew exactly who he was and how he operated. They voted for him anyway. Why? Now that is a bigger more complex issue. A list to start with: Hate of POC, hate of powerful women, hate of immigrants, hate of the LGBTQ community, greed…you know the millions of racists and bigots and their ilk…..they weren’t conned.

      • December 31, 2020 at 4:21 pm

That’s a question I ask often. I already have realized that racism and bigotry is the primary factor and that loss of jobs/health insurance is their willingness to sacrifice for the cause. But how long are they willing to “sacrifice” while those who they look to “save the race” continue to get richer?

“Tasing of Native American Male at Petroglyph National Monument Draws Attention of Members of Congress”

    ALBUQUERQUE —
“What started as a Sunday walk at Petroglyph National Monument by a Navajo/Oneida man ended in a confrontation with a National Park Service ranger that left the Native man screaming on the ground after he had been tased multiple times.

The incident has drawn the attention of several members of Congress.

Within the grounds of Petroglyph National Monument is one of the country’s largest petroglyph sites that features designs and symbols carved into rocks by American Indians and Spanish settlers. The designs and symbols date back 400 to 700 years.

American Indians consider the New Mexico monument sacred and go there to pray. Hiking is allowed on designated trails to protect the archeological integrity of the monument….

“We are shocked by the video of a National Park Service ranger tasing Darrell House at Petroglyph National Monument on Sunday. We have asked for an immediate investigation into the incident and expect a full accounting of what happened. This landscape is sacred to Tribes and holds deep meaning for the people of New Mexico. Everyone should feel safe and welcome on our public lands.”

Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.), chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, that oversees the U.S. Department of the Interior, sent a letter to Interior Secretary David Bernhardt today. In the letter Grijalva requests footage from body-worn cameras used by National Park Service (NPS) officers involved in the Dec. 27 Tasering of Darrell House, a Marine Corps veteran and enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and Oneida Nation, at Petroglyph National Monument.”

Alicia Garza, civil rights activist, co-creator of Black Lives Matter movement.
    Velshi:
“After a year of protests and fervent pleas for change, where do we stand now? Will we see the change that protestors have asked for under a Biden Administration?”
    Garza:
“I think in this new era what we really need to be paying attention to is not continuing to sweep this epidemic under the rug. What we’ve seen for not just this past year but at least the last decade, is that honestly we’re facing a situation where police officers and law enforcement in this country have more rights and more protections than the civilians that they are sworn to protect and serve. And that in and of itself is a tragedy. But then bigger than that what we’re seeing is that there are no consistent accountability mechanisms. And frankly there isn’t the political will to enforce those mechanisms, when they do exist. That is why we see such uneven levels of accountability across the country from department to department. And we even see it in what I would say is a severely weakened Department of Justice especially under the trump administration, and certainly under AG bill barr or former AG bill barr as the case may be.”

    • December 31, 2020 at 3:32 pm

      Garza:
“So for us, I think moving into 2021 there’s a few things that we need to see.
Number one, we need to see an uprooting of racism in every aspect of our lives.
And that includes Police Departments and it includes law enforcement.
Number two, we need to see a reallocation of resources across the board. What we’re seeing is we are bloating the budgets of these police departments with no accountability and no transparence and no oversight. And so the results are very clear. But what if we reallocate those resources into the community needs that we have, mental health services, all of the things that we’re calling on police to help do something about, that they’re not trained to do and they’re not the best people to do it.
And then thirdly, I think what we really need to see in 2021 is a strengthening of oversight mechanisms, whether it be at the federal level, or whether it be in cities and states where most law enforcement policy is actually developed and implemented.”

    • December 31, 2020 at 3:36 pm

      Velshi:
“Numbers two and three are political, they can be done. Number one, uprooting racism, we’ve been trying to do that I suspect for a very long time. What does that involve? That’s not just about having a Biden/Harris Administration. That’s a different, bigger thing.”
      Garza:
“It is. But it’s important for the Biden and Harris Administration to actually take this on as a core component of their administration. The problem here is that too often the way that we talk about racism is that it’s about “mean people” being mean to people.
And that actually is not racism. That’s just mean people being mean!
But racism is about rigged rules. It’s about keeping people from power, decision making, and dignity. And we see that in systems across the board. Whether it be law enforcement, whether it be education, whether it be healthcare. Whether it be in our employment and in our economy. Racism is fundamentally about rigged rules that keep people who have been designed or designated as “other” from the things that they need to live well.”

    • December 31, 2020 at 3:38 pm

      Garza:
“And the Biden/Harris Administration needs to make this a core component of their agenda for their administration. And they too need to embrace this notion that racism is NOT, again, about people being mean to each other. Racism is fundamentally about rules that are rigged against communities that have been left out and left behind for far too long. Once we start to address that from that perspective, then we can take on the mandate of changing those rules, getting rid of those rules.
And replacing them with rules that allow people to access dignity equally.”

  86. December 31, 2020 at 3:43 pm

“What 2020’s social justice movement hopes to achieve in the Biden/Harris era”. Alicia Garza speaks to Velshi.

Thomas (Tommy) Bloom Raskin, 25 years:
“Tommy was pure magic. His brilliance and compassion knew no bounds. He passionately loved his family, friends, and animals, and was devoted to the cause of the global poor. We are devastated and demolished to be without him.”
—the Raskin family must have been going through hell over Christmas….so so sorry to hear this news.
