“Christopher Krebs Debunks The President’s Lies About Election Fraud”
“Former Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Christopher Krebs, was publicly fired by the president on Twitter for declaring the presidential election secure. He sits down with Stephen to discuss the need for Republican leaders to stand up for American democracy, and to debunk some of the lies the president is spreading about election fraud.”
—Worked to secure the election for 4 years. There was no foreign interference. Domestic disinformation is “actively undermine the American voter’s conference and it’s gotta stop.” And U.S. ballots must go all paper.

    David Brooks:
“This is the winter Mitch McConnell made”
“If we can’t get a COVID-19 relief package through Congress in the next week or two, we’re sunk. It means we have a legislative branch so ideologically divided it can’t address even our most glaring problems. It means we have representatives so lacking in the willingness and ability to compromise that minimally competent government will be impossible, even under a President Joe Biden.

The problems a basic relief measure would address couldn’t be more obvious. Under current law, up to 12 million Americans could lose their jobless benefits by year’s end — a wretched Christmastime for millions of families, which could spawn a wave of depression, morbidity, family breakdown and suicide.

Millions of people could be evicted from their homes. Thousands more businesses may close during the long winter months before a vaccine is widely available. These are not failing, unproductive businesses. These are good, strong businesses that would have provided jobs and opportunity for millions of Americans for decades if they hadn’t been hit by the pandemic.

Wendy Edelberg of the Hamilton Project calculates that if nothing passes, the U.S. economy will be $1 trillion smaller in 2021 and $500 billion smaller in 2022.”

“President Trump has raised at least $150 million since Election Day
through an onslaught of appeals to supporters for help funding his unsuccessful challenges to the vote’s results….
The money can be used “to fund basically anything,” wrote Washington Post analyst Philip Bump.
“The money in the Save America PAC, unlike money contributed to a standard campaign committee,
can be used to benefit Trump in innumerable ways.
Memberships to golf clubs. Travel. Rallies.
Even payments directly to Trump himself, as long as he declares it income.”

    GITANJALI RAO:
TIME magazine’s first-ever ‘Kid of the Year’”
“The young scientist, Gitanjali Rao, has worked to tackle matters such as contaminated drinking water, opioid addiction and cyberbullying using technology. She was selected from a field of over 5,000 Americans and was interviewed by actor Angelina Jolie for the magazine.”
“Observe, brainstorm, research, build and communicate.”
That is what the brilliant young scientist and inventor Gitanjali Rao told actor and activist Angelina Jolie about her process, over Zoom, from her home in Colorado, during a break in her virtual schooling. Just 15 years old, Rao has been selected from a field of more than 5,000 nominees as TIME’s first ever Kid of the Year. She spoke about her astonishing work using technology to tackle issues ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying, and about her mission to create a global community of young innovators to solve problems the world over. Even over video chat, her brilliant mind and generous spirit shone through, along with her inspiring message to other young people: don’t try to fix every problem, just focus on one that excites you. “If I can do it,” she said, “anybody can do it.”

Speaker Pelosi Statement on November Jobs Report:
“The alarming November jobs report is another urgent warning that real relief is needed to crush the virus,
stop the mass layoffs of essential workers and put money in the pockets of the American people.

“We have an opportunity to do that by building on the bipartisan framework unveiled on Tuesday by Senators, which was developed with the support of House Members on both sides of the aisle. With the vaccine imminent and just weeks until the inauguration of a new president committed to crushing the virus and growing the economy, Republicans and Democrats must immediately come together on a true, bipartisan effort to meaningfully address the health and economic crisis gripping our country.

“As we look toward the future, House Democrats are preparing to work with the Biden-Harris Administration to take strong action to grow our economy and strengthen our communities.
Together, we will Build Back Better For The People.”

“Biden Says $900 Billion Bipartisan Pandemic Relief Package Is Not Enough”
    President-elect Joe Biden:
“The situation requires urgent action. Americans need help, and they need it now.
I am encouraged by the bipartisan efforts in the Senate around a $900 billion relief package. In the weeks since the election ended, there were questions about whether Democrats and Republicans could work together. Right now, they are showing they can. Congress and President Trump must get a deal done for the American people.”

      President-elect Biden:

“But any package passed in the lame-duck session is not enough. It’s just the start.

Congress will need to act again in January. As we inherit this economic crisis, Vice President-elect Harris and I are working on the plan we will put forward for the next Congress to move fast and control the pandemic, revive the economy, and build back better than before. And, we hope to see the same kind of spirit of bipartisan cooperation as we are seeing today.’

“The United States dodged an authoritarian bullet
when former Vice President Joe Biden, a centrist Democrat, became president-elect, winning 306 electoral votes and defeating defeated President Donald Trump by more than 6 million in the popular vote.

But when Republican Lin Wood, a pro-Trump attorney who has been fighting the election results in Georgia, implores Trump to impose martial law and elections officials are receiving death threats for acknowledging Biden as president-elect, it is painfully obvious that there is a strong appetite for fascism in parts of the United States. And journalist Sasha Abramsky, in an article published by The Nation on December 4, warns that Republicans who are openly calling for fascism should not be taken lightly.

“We are less than seven weeks away from the inauguration, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t counting down the seconds,” Abramsky writes. “For the last spasms of Trumpist rule are truly a sight and sound to behold. Trumpism is, at this point, nothing more than a blend of cultism and fascism — a violent, nihilistic howl against the pillars of American democracy unparalleled in presidential history.”

    On this day:
D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals: Shawnee Tribe v. Steven Mnuchin

“The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals hears arguments in Shawnee Tribe v. Steven Mnuchin, No. 20-52, on Friday, December 4, 2020. In the case, the Shawnee Tribe is suing the Trump administration over its handling of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act.

The law created an $8 billion COVID-19 relief fund that was distributed to tribal governments.

The Shawnee Tribe received just $100,000 in the first round of payments from the CARES Act.

The Department of the Treasury issued the amount by concluding that the tribe’s population was 0.

The tribe, based in Oklahoma, argues that Treasury should have relied on its citizenship numbers.
If enrollment is taken into account, the first round payment would have been approximately $12 million.”

    • December 4, 2020 at 8:27 pm

He can certainly be impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate, whether he’s in office or not.

No question the list of impeachable offenses is vast. Only question is sufficient House and Senate votes to make it stick.

Wouldn’t surprise that it happens if he’s successfully prosecuted by any of several State AGs.

Also, remember he is open to all kinds of DOJ legal actions. It’s bs for him to think he would succeed in any form of ‘self pardon.’ The best he can do now is crap lawyers. His best hope is to get a decent public defender once he’s out of the WH.
