I feel so terrible for Meghan and Harry. I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks and know that deep pain. You don’t just get over it, especially when they were brave enough to share such a loss and are being attacked for it.

She and Chrissie knew that the trolls would come for them but they love more than they fear and as Chrissie said, if you had a problem with what she shared and how she chose todo so that it was not for them. Meghan and Harry have gone through so much but they carry on living lives of service and care. Meghan is also as talented a writer as she is as a speaker.

Time for the rest of the democrats of all stripes and sizes to get their shit together. White female democrats need to talk to their handmaid relatives and friends to de-program them. Black women have to do everything and all we get is shit. The praise soon ends and we are back to fighting for our piece of the pie with no help other than ourselves.

    Fmr Ambasador Samantha Power:
“The Can-Do Power America’s Advantage and Biden’s Chance”
“Ever since then U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright memorably called the United States “indispensable” more than two decades ago, both Americans and publics abroad have vigorously debated the proposition. Today, as President Donald Trump’s term comes to a close, foreign observers of the United States are more prone to use a different word: “incompetent.”

The Trump administration’s response to the most urgent problem in the world today—the coronavirus pandemic—has been worse than that of any other nation. This, in turn, has understandably tarnished perceptions of the United States: according to recent Pew Research Center polling conducted in 13 major economic powers, a median of 84 percent of respondents agreed that the United States has done a poor job of handling COVID-19—by far the most damning appraisal received by any major country or institution. Yet the mishandling of the pandemic is just the latest in a string of lapses in basic competence that have called into question U.S. capabilities among both long-standing allies and countries whose partnership Washington may seek in the years to come. A brand once synonymous with the world-changing creations of Steve Jobs, with feats of strength and ingenuity such as the Berlin airlift and the moon landing, and with the opportunity represented by the Statue of Liberty now projects chaos, polarization, and dysfunction.

For all the criticism directed at U.S. foreign policy in eras past, foreign leaders and publics largely retained respect for the United States’ willingness to undertake challenging endeavors and its ability to accomplish difficult tasks—a significant but underappreciated cornerstone of American power. Today, the fact that fewer and fewer people identify the United States as capable of solving big problems should be a major concern for those who believe that U.S. leadership must play a central role in tackling climate change and other shared global problems whose solutions demand both expertise and effective coalition building.”

    What a moving speech?

  63. November 25, 2020 at 3:29 pm

    Yesssss.
    Jane Mayer (New Yorker):
–said stuff I’ve been wanting to HEAR said about the KOCHs on O’Donnell last night.
e.g. Charles Koch recycling his bi-annual nonsense about how he ‘regrets fueling the nation’s partisan divide’.

    JANE MAYER:
“Best PR money can buy and they do it every few years”.
“Having heard this every 2 years at least since 2014, you’d have to be an amnesiac to fall for it.
Some of my colleagues have not checked the clips and looked back at this.
It happens on a regular basis and then Charles Koch, and his machine which is a stunningly powerful political machine with an incredible amount of money behind it,
goes ahead and funds another generation of Republican candidates.
In this case what Charles Koch is trying to do down in Georgia is hold the Senate under a Republican majority.
It will continue to serve the agenda of Charles Koch and Koch Industries.
He owns the largest private company in America.
And his greatest and most passionate interest is making sure that the U.S. government,
the federal government, does NOTHING to try to ameliorate climate change.
Because most of his money comes from fossil fuels.
And in order to do that he’s got to hold the Republican majority in the Senate.”

“Donald Trump just pardoned Michael Flynn – but it could blow up in both their faces”

First, Flynn dodged several more serious criminal charges when he cut his cooperating plea deal on a lesser charge. Flynn went on to violate his plea deal, meaning prosecutors can now hit him with those more serious charges. Trump can try to word his pardon to include any and all crimes that Flynn hasn’t yet been charged with, but that’ll be legally flimsy, and prosecutors can challenge it in court. So Flynn could end up with more prison time than the zero to six months he was facing.

Second, because there is no clear precedent for a President being able to pardon his own criminal co-conspirators, prosecutors can try to get the entire pardon thrown out in court. This would in turn set the precedent to invalidate every pardon that Trump tries to issue to a co-conspirator.

Third, depending on the nature of his other crimes and the states he committed them in, Flynn could be subject to state level criminal charges.

If Flynn’s pardon holds up and he does skate entirely, then he’ll no longer face any criminal jeopardy. In such case the Fifth Amendment will no longer apply, and Flynn will then be required to testify against Trump.

If Flynn refuses to testify against Trump, he can then be charged with felony obstruction – and Trump’s pardon certainly won’t apply to any crimes that Flynn commits after the pardon.
