Fuckers are scared. This would make me all the more passionate about making sure I voted! There are 2 candidates that want your voices heard and you to matter, and 2 candidates that don’t care if you’re silenced and disregarded. VOTE BLUE, Georgia. Take your power back and save this country too!

The first would extend an authorization for counties across the state to provide drop boxes for absentee ballots — an authorization made last spring and renewed in July. Counties must use video recording to monitor the boxes and adopt other security measures.

The second proposal would modify another rule approved earlier this year. It would require counties to begin processing absentee ballots — but not counting them — a week and a day before Election Day. The existing rule merely allows counties to begin processing ballots early, but it does not require it.

The third proposed rule directs counties to “review all available evidence” to determine whether someone registering to vote is a Georgia resident. Among other things, local registrars may consider whether the applicant has a valid Georgia driver’s license or identification card, whether they have a motor vehicle registered in the state and whether they have paid the required title ad valorem tax on the vehicle as required when moving to Georgia.

If the registrar cannot determine whether the applicant properly resides in Georgia, the rule directs them to process the application but mark it as “challenged,” and to initiate a hearing. The focus on residency comes as Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and others have raised alarms at the prospect of partisans moving to Georgia temporarily to vote in the January runoff for two U.S. Senate races.

One-third of parents believe the benefits of gathering the family together for Thanksgiving is worth the risk of catching or spreading Covid-19, according to a new poll published Monday. That’s despite the fact that nine out of 10 parents said grandparents — one of the highest-risk groups for severe infections — were typically at their Thanksgiving gathering.

  35. November 23, 2020 at 12:54 pm

    Rachel Maddow:
“To see a sitting president disappear from public view for this length of time while he is also trying to orchestrate such an absolutely unprecedented anti-democratic plot….”

    • November 23, 2020 at 12:55 pm

Presidential historian Michael Beschloss speaks to Maddow:
“First of all, you are absolute right…
Donald Trump for the last couple of weeks has been not only invisible, but we don’t get pictures of him talking on the phone or meeting with people. We don’t get readouts of telephone calls he might have with foreign leaders or other people. It’s as if there is no President at all. At the same time, this is a guy who as you were saying, is plotting in a way that we’ve never seen before. It’s totally un-American. Compare this to Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush. All of them lost re-election. They immediately conceded. They told the victors that they would not only concede, but would give any help they could in the transition and unite the country. Instead we’ve got this sore loser. What is he? Is he hiding in his bedroom in the corner, chewing on the corner of the carpet? It’s something we’ve never seen before.”

    • November 23, 2020 at 12:57 pm

      Maddow:
“Michael you were quoted today in the New York Times. Really good piece, analysis by David E. Sanger, raising the specter of a botched presidential election that we had back in the 19th century in the Reconstruction Era. I think it was 1876. Rutherford B Hayes and the dispute over three states where there wasn’t a clear outcome. And there was an effort to usurp power. On the one hand I find that sort of comforting as an historical analog because I want to take strength from knowing that the country recovered. But that was also an absolute catastrophe for the country.”
      Beschloss:
“Of course it was. It was resolved by Congress. And it was resolved in the most ugly, horrible, compromise that we can think of. And that is the Republicans said: ‘If you let our guy Hayes become President, we will take federal troops out of the South, we’ll stop Reconstruction, you can impose racist governments in every state in the South, Jim Crow laws. And the result was horrible things in the South and elsewhere in this country, race problems we’ve had ever since as a result of that. That’s the way that was resolved. Compromises are not necessarily great.”

    • November 23, 2020 at 12:59 pm

      Beschloss:
“And the other I’m worried about is I think what Trump is doing here is, he’s grasping at straws, he’s trying somehow to rescue himself although he has resoundingly lost this election. But someone may have told him, I don’t think Donald Trump really knows who Andrew Jackson was, except for maybe the guy on the 20 dollar bill. He probably knows him for that. But Jackson was someone as you know from studying it,
who campaigned by saying ‘I was robbed of the presidency by a corrupt bargain in 1824’. He became president in ’28. I think the Trump people may be trying to do that this year, and somehow assured he can return to the White House – god forbid.”

“Some Republicans start following Trump’s lead following defeats”
“The more Republicans follow Trump’s lead in response to election defeats, the more it undermines public confidence in the U.S. electoral system.”
“Losing candidates sometimes look for ways to remain relevant after a defeat, so perhaps this Washington Republican is engaged in these tactics to get attention. But the larger concern is that we may be witnessing the start of a new normal: Donald Trump has decided election results he doesn’t like need not be respected,
and others in his party may be a little too eager to follow his lead.”

My pressure lowered even more when I saw Biden’s pick for these very important positions. Experienced, talented, hardworking, knowledgeable people who have served in previous positions without corruption. They can hit the ground running because they know how to do their jobs. Principled and dignified and diverse. So happy. Each day we see the wisdom of having someone like Joe as our next president especially in view of the clean up and re-setting that will need to be done. he has been there, done that and knows all of the players here and abroad. and even more importantly, our allies and enemies know him and the excellent staff with whom he surrounds himself. No more grifters, charlatans, and stupid greedy motherfuckers. More than 80 million of us said no to the disaster of the past 4 years, thank God.

Apple’s head of global security has been charged with bribery.

Thomas Moyer is accused of offering bribes in the form of iPads worth $70,000 in order to obtain concealed firearms licenses.

The charges were brought by a California grand jury on Monday. Apple did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Two police officers from Santa Clara County, California, have also been charged.

County Undersheriff Rick Sung and Sheriff’s Captain James Jenson are accused of requesting bribes for concealed firearms licenses.

Mr Moyer is accused of offering bribes to get them.

Under state law, it is a crime to carry a concealed firearm without a concealed weapon license.

Santa Clara County alleges that Mr Sung held back issuing concealed weapons permits to Apple’s security team, until Mr Moyer agreed to donate $70,000 worth of iPads to the sheriff’s office.
