I’ve been wondering the same thing. To me, tRump and Melania not reaching out to the Bidens is a blessing. I doubt they want to expose themselves to whatever is floating around the WH…not to mention, the tRumps don’t feel the need to wear a mask.

The Biden-Harris administration may need a temporary location during the first few days so that the WH can be decontaminated.

Now that Donald Trump has lost the election, he’s unmistakably facing a future that involves prison and bankruptcy. It’s really just a matter of who gets to him first. For instance, New York State has had a widely documented grand jury in the process of indicting Trump on financial crimes for some time. Then there’s whatever the post-Trump DOJ does to him. But it appears Trump will also face trouble outside the United States.

The Scotsman is reporting that the Scottish Parliament is now openly discussing an investigation into how Donald Trump’s properties in Scotland were funded. Notably, Parliament is citing New York’s ongoing investigation into Trump’s financial fraud as a basis for its own would-be investigation.

Sen. Warren is just saying there are some great things coming on Day One of the Biden/Harris Administration. Ron Klain who will be Chief of Staff, just listed off lots of things slated for the first day to O’Donnell, e.g stack of executive orders, COVID-19, the Paris Accord, ACA issues. Indeed, a very busy plan for day one – as promised!

He did a mea culpa for the other joint chiefs and troops after he was photographed, in fatigues, at the Lafayette Park disgrace. Bro did not think he would be photographed since he was not close enough to the Orange traitor. Old people still do not realize how pervasive phones are and how quickly and strategically young people wield them. I watched his apology and it was clear that he knew the damage he had done to all of the military and to his own career. Good that he is saying this and so publicly. He let that coward trash his career and like so many others who have allowed themselves to be used, he will now be a strong opponent.

Black women have always known this about white women which is why we don’t trust them. When the rubber meets the road, they always fade away into the comfort of white supremacy. The worst are those who consider themselves to be progressives, the ones who “don’t see color.” Black women give a side eye to all of the hot takes about “listen to Black women” or “vote like Black women” because we know how they really feel and how they will act. We know that we are being used by the democrats, but we know that in a this 2 party system, it is the only place where we have hope of at least having a hearing. Black women activist got Kamala on this ticket. They provided Joe with the list of qualified Black women who could be his running mate. We know that our relationship with the democrats is transactional, most of life is, and so we are very pragmatic in our voting and activism. Stacey Abrams is the latest in a centuries long tradition of Black women doing it for their communities and themselves.
For those who want to learn more about all of this, I recommend Vanguard, by Martha S. Jones, who is a professor of History at Johns Hopkins University among other things. The full title of the book is: How Black Women broke barriers, won the vote, and insisted on Equality for All.
Just like not all white women voted for the deplorable one, not all white women fall into what I have described, but the vast majority do and that is what I mean when I say All.
Some of the things that amuse me the most is when my friend of 34 years, who happens to be White, tells me stories of how other whites approach her assuming that she holds the same values as they and how they react when they realize this is not true.

You might think Beijing would be glad to see the back of Donald Trump. As China-basher-in-chief he hit them with a trade war, levied a raft of punitive sanctions and badgered and blamed them for the coronavirus pandemic.

But some analysts have suggested that the Chinese leadership may now be feeling secretly disappointed. Not because they have any lasting fondness for Mr Trump, but because another four years of him in the White House held out the tantalising prospect of a bigger prize. Divisive at home, isolationist abroad – Mr Trump seemed to Beijing the very embodiment of the long-anticipated and hoped for decline in US power.

It was a message rammed home by the country’s Communist Party-controlled TV news bulletins. They focused not on the election itself – but on the protests, rancour, and rising US virus infection rates alongside it.

China might, of course, try to find advantage in Joe Biden’s willingness to seek co-operation on big issues like climate change. But he’s also promised to work to repair America’s alliances, which may prove to be far more effective in constraining China’s superpower ambitions than Trump’s go-it-alone approach.

And a Biden victory offers another challenge for a Chinese system devoid of democratic control. Far from a decline in American values, the transition of power itself is proof that those values endure.

I’ve often said, especially of late, that anyone running for the office of POTUS should have to take and pass a basic civics test. That’s not asking a lot as a minimal requirement.

Requirements should also include being able to pass a security clearance (before qualifying for the primary) and making public at least 5 years of their tax returns.

China congratulates Biden after long silence.

China has finally congratulated Joe Biden on his projected win in the US presidential election, breaking a frosty period of silence.

“We respect the choice of the American people. We extend congratulations to Mr Biden and Ms Harris,” a foreign ministry spokesman said on Friday.

The China-US relationship is crucial to both sides, and the wider world. Tensions have soared in recent times, over trade, espionage and the pandemic.

Russia is yet to offer well wishes.

Four years ago, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin was among the first to congratulate Donald Trump on his election victory, but there has been no tweet, telegram or phone call to Mr Biden this time.

To put it bluntly, it shows China’s leaders – and specifically Xi Jinping, the country’s powerful president – have accepted the result and expect Joe Biden to be inaugurated as president in January despite legal challenges from the Trump campaign.

Until this point, the Chinese government had been holding out, saying only that it had “noticed that Mr Biden had been declared winner”.

After offering the congratulations on Thursday, foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin added: “We understand the results of the US election will be determined according to US laws and procedures.”

We laughed and ridiculed Sarah Palin when she basically walked away from her job as Alaska’s governor in the middle of her term. But at least she resigned the position.

The Orange Oval Office Occupant has outright stopped doing the job (though most of us don’t believe he ever did) — not even going through the motions, however destructive — while continuing to reap the benefits of the position and fleecing his supporters.

They mocked us when we echoed “When they go low, we go high.”
They beat, kicked, pushed and gassed us when we marched with our hands up, or knelt down, or did a die-in.
They came with guns, war grade armor, billy clubs, tanks, and shields while we had only our faith, determination, and belief that thing can and must be better.
They shouted slogans about America’s greatness, but we showed it with fidelity to law and order, brotherhood, charity, empathy and compassion.
They came maskless, spreading disease as surely as they spread hate, but we showed love for all by wearing ours.
Their events led to surges in infection, our marches did not.
They said that we were weak because we refused to follow their examples, but we showed the watching world that American strength is in how we treat one another, in how we care for the less fortunate and how we use the rule of law and decency as weapons.
They did everything to keep us from wielding the one weapon that we had; our vote
But we had sworn that we would march through fire, crawl over broken glass and we did so by standing in long lines for hours in the midst of a pandemic, taking our ballots directly to official drop boxes and election offices to make sure that they were received in time, or putting them in the mail soon after we received the ballots.
We increased our troops with creative and long hours of GOTV and through it all listened to our own better angels and by following the examples of those who had come before us.
In a bloodless clash almost 80 million met the challenges of voter suppression and out right cheating to bring in a victory for us, the country and the world.
The world witnessed that for all of our problems, our traditions and laws can stand the test. That non-violence and engagement can save a nation. We ARE the ones that we have been waiting.

It finally hit me in an emotional way that we had won, that I could exhale a little. Did not really celebrate on Saturday or in the days that followed because this is 2020 where the unimaginable has happened. Slow to realize that a positive, unimaginable has happened; almost 80 million of us beat back the forces against us and won decisively. Still on guard, beating back the wild rumors that are causing many of us to have our hair on fire, and being in prayer for the safety of our team and the rest of us, but hopeful, grateful, and now, at last, happy.
