Potential for extreme damage…women, LGBTQ, get rid of as many human rights as possible, live in the
“safe” world where men control women. Watching Barrett play up to the men in the hearings, am reminded of that andro world she lives in = eyes on the christian taliban going forward.

The less qualified you are for a job, the more compliant you are to the people who put you there. Barrett will be compliant to tRump/McConnell and the GOP just as tRump is compliant to Putin.

    Speaker Peolosi to Hayes:
“Within the past 24 hours we’ve seen the President of the United States say, in his delusional state,
‘We’ve rounded the curve on this. We’ve rounded the turn.’ We haven’t. We’ve heard his Chief of Staff tell us, eyes wide open, as you said, this is a decision, they do not intend to control the virus.”

“Over eight million people infected, getting close to a quarter of a million people who have died
and now we know they never intended – it wasn’t just ineptitude, it wasn’t just politics, it just wasn’t their defiance of science, it was a decision, a decision not to crush the virus, and what that means for the education of our children, the economy of our country and the rest. And what do they do but rush, rush this Supreme Court nomination through? Which has – also has an impact on the health and well-being of the American people.”

“And you may recall, about ten days ago they finally said,
‘Okay, we’ll go along with the testing plan. We’re just going to make a light touch on the language.’
The light touch was taking out 55 percent of the language, changing ‘must’ – we are saying you ‘shall,’ the Administration ‘shall’ do this, they ‘shall’ – the Administration ‘may’ do this. ‘Requirements’ became ‘recommendations’ and the like, so that the money would be just, again, a slush fund for the President so that he may do this, or may do that, rather than requiring it. ”

“We’ve got to crush the virus. We’ve got to have our children safely in schools. We’ve got to insist that as people are going into poverty, we are asking them for Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, all these things that take people out of poverty. They’re insisting on keeping their big tax cut $150 billion for the wealthiest people in the country.”

“…the antidote to their poison, the antidote is the vote.”

“We’re saying, ‘That light is a train coming after you, Mr. President.’
With great patriotism, with great principle, we will protect our democracy in the House.”

It passed legislation in 1866 decreasing the number of judges from 10 to 7 so that Johnson wouldn’t be able to appoint a new justice. Congress’s decision was short-lived, however; SCOTUS shrank only to eight justices before the 1869 decision to set the number to nine.

Judge denies Justice Dept. attempt to intervene in defamation case brought by woman after Trump denied her rape allegation

The judge ruled President Trump was not an “employee” of the government under a law meant to shield federal workers from lawsuits, and even if he was, the law would not protect him from a lawsuit over his denials last year that he had raped journalist E. Jean Carroll decades ago in a New York City department store.

“We finally know the Trump administration’s pandemic strategy: Surrender.”
“For weeks, the White House has been advancing a “herd immunity” approach of essentially letting the coronavirus infect the majority of the population.
President Trump insists that the United States is “rounding the corner” despite record-breaking infection rates and rising hospitalizations. Trump continues to compare coronavirus with the flu and complains that the media spends too much time spent covering it. During the final presidential debate, Trump accused former vice president Joe Biden of wanting to “lock Americans in their basements for months on end.”
    None of this made sense.
Public health experts have been forced to debunk each inaccurate and misleading statement.”

    John Lapinski:
Runs the Decision Desk at MSNBC. Described as “the chief engineer at the heart of the engine of the ship of election night”. Here speaking with Hayes:

    • October 27, 2020 at 3:47 pm

“The irony of course is that in chronological time, to use your metaphor, the first three quarters have been played, and then the fourth quarter will be Election Day, in terms of percentage of the vote. In reporting time, they will just tell us who won the fourth quarter first. Particularly in PA, they will report out ‘This is Election Day votes’. And then they’ll start counting that other stuff. Is that right?”
“I’ve talked to a lot of county officials – it will be skewed towards Election Day voting.
And so in a city like Philadelphia you’re going to get all of the Election Day vote, and then probably on Election night, you might get a third of the early vote. So that’s why there’s going to be a lot of discussion between the Decision Desk and everybody will be telling the story to the American people. Because those numbers could be a little bit deceptive, but we will know that. We will know.”

    • October 27, 2020 at 3:49 pm

“We are on this! We’re thinking a lot about this!”
“We are on this! So many people are concerned that we don’t understand exactly how the reporting is going to work, and how the early voting is going to work. I spend all my time with that.”
