“Joy Reid on Trump downplaying coronavirus dangers: Your President lied to you”
“And there are tapes” (clips here of Trump talking to Woodward).
    –Trump lied people died.

  4. September 11, 2020 at 10:30 am

Speaker Pelosi speaking to Joy Reid:
“But let me use one word to describe everything we learned in the last 24, 48 hours: contempt.
Contempt by the President of the United States for the lives of the American people. Contempt of the President for science that was telling us what we needed to do and still continues to tell us what to do, and he still won’t allocate the resources or the approval for what we have in the Heroes Act to do that. Contempt for his own supporters, by having them packed into venues again and again, since he even knew it was airborne. Again, just contemptible. And then, when you hear what he has to say about Saudi Arabia, contempt for who we are as a nation. It’s really – nothing should be surprising to us about this President, but he is contemptible.”
    Speaker Pelosi:
“He (Trump) says, ‘I didn’t want to cause a panic.’ Really?
If you see a train coming and a car on the tracks, you would say, ‘Get out of the way.’ But he couldn’t do that, because he didn’t want it to affect the stock market or his reputation or whatever it was. Contemptible.”

    Dr. Anthony Fauci yesterday:
“I just think we need to hunker down and get through this fall and winter, because it’s not going to be easy.
We know every time we lift restrictions, we get a blip.”
“The president is still trying to run roughshod over public health experts and scientists in the interest of short political gain, even if it gets people killed. Which it has. Which it still is at a rate of about 800 lives a day.
He is directing officials across the country to ignore public health advice. He’s pressuring the FDA to advocate for unproven treatments and potentially approve a vaccine before trials are finished, so he can roll it out before Election Day. His administration intervened to get the CDC to change its testing guidance, to say people exposed to the virus may not need to be tested. Seemingly, because Trump wanted remember, the number of cases to go down. And now Politico reports that a Trump administration official at HHS is trying to prevent Dr. Fauci from discussing the risks the virus poses to children, as Trump aggressively pushes for schools to reopen.”

    • September 11, 2020 at 12:02 pm

Hayes: “Trump administration appointee Paul Alexander…emailed to Fauci’s press team:
“Can you ensure that Fauci indicates masks are for children in schools, not for children? There is no data, none, zero, across the entire world that shows children especially young children, spread this virus to other children or to adults, or to their teachers.” THAT’S NOT TRUE!! That’s absolutely false!
It’s wildly irresponsible…we know that children can spread it. Just ask for instance the 260 children and staff at a Georgia overnight camp, who tested positive for the virus.”

      • September 12, 2020 at 12:32 pm

Paul Alexander lied and misled when he wrote:
“Can you ensure that Fauci indicates masks are for staff in schools, not for children?”
–of course Dr. Fauci didn’t say that.

    • September 11, 2020 at 12:03 pm

Hayes: “The deadly cover up that’s revealed on that tape with Woodward, the one that we found out about yesterday, is still happening right now as I speak to you.”

    • September 11, 2020 at 12:04 pm

“Emails show HHS official trying to muzzle Fauci”
“Emails obtained by POLITICO show a top aide at the department dictating what the nation’s top infections disease expert should say during media interviews.”

NYT: ” I Need You To Care That Our Country is on Fire”
“Would you feel more urgency about climate change if all you could see was smoke?”
    by Charlie Wurzel
“The American West does not have a monopoly on climate-related disasters.
Hurricane seasons grow worse each year and devastating earthquakes loom.
The flooding in the Midwest and storms like the recent derecho in Iowa are calamities that deserve equal attention. They’re also urgent alarm bells. Everyone on earth right now is experiencing unpredictable and dire weather. No region is alone in experiencing the tragedy of our dying planet.”
“The point of this column isn’t to guilt people for where they live or what they’ve experienced, but to convey the desperation that so many Americans are feeling right now. It’s an anxiety that deepens each year. One that turns cloudless summer days in July into harbingers of misery.”
—-As a parent you are on alert, you cannot open the windows for smoke, your breathing is short, it is hot, you cannot go out, your children isolated already due to COVID-19, you plan your escape route. If it is not too late.

I recently asked when absentee ballots are counted…i.e., as they are received by the election office or Election Day? Given Covid-19 and the desire to avoid long lines, it is expected that the volume of absentee ballots will increase. If counts don’t occur until Election Day, the delay in the availability of results will give “tRump and Company” the opportunity to sabotage people’s confidence in its reliability.

The answer varies by state but for the most part, ballots are at least *processed* upon receipt (comparing the affidavit signature on the outside of the return envelope against the voter’s signature on record to ensure a match, or otherwise verify the voter’s identity, opening the ballot and preparing it for tabulation).

Most states do not begin *counting* until Election Day – anywhere from the beginning of Election Day to after the polls close. One state – Maryland – does not even begin counting absentee ballots until 8 a.m. the Wednesday after Election Day. There are states that begin counting 14 – 15 days before Election Day. Other states, especially those with large populations or a high volume of absentee ballots, may decide to begin counting earlier. In all cases, results can NOT be reported (at least they’re not supposed to be reported) until the polls are closed on Election Day.

Criticisms about processing mail ballots before Election Day usually center on concerns that early results will be leaked before the close of polls. Legislators need to at least give election administrators a chance to do their jobs well. One way they can do that during this election cycle is to allow for the processing of mail ballots before Election Day. [https://bipartisanpolicy.org/blog/this-year-states-should-process-absentee-ballots-before-election-day/]

This link provides a table that shows by state “When Absentee/Mail Ballot Processing and Counting Can Begin”. [https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/vopp-table-16-when-absentee-mail-ballot-processing-and-counting-can-begin.aspx]

Kathleen Sebelius, former Secretary of HHS, speaks to Hayes:
Hayes: “The president saying we’re ‘rounding the corner’ while Dr. Anthony Fauci tells us to “hunker down”
for a difficult fall and winter.”

“Well let’s start with this – believe Tony Fauci.
We know the president is a liar. He started lying the day he was inaugurated about the crowd size.
And he has consistently lied to the American public. The Bob Woodward tape is chilling. Because not only does the president, in his own words, acknowledge that he absolutely understood the gravity of the disease. Understood how different it was from the flu. Understood what the death rates could be. But lied to the public. But in addition to that Chris, I think we’ve got to talk about how he never used the muscle of the federal government to do what he could have and should have done, at that point in February: Mobilize a massive testing campaign nationally. Mobilize the production and gathering of PPE and save lives in nursing homes across this country. Mobilize the will of the American public to take some tough medicine and withdraw from interaction with one another. And get the virus down to the point that we could not only protect vulnerable citizens, but build testing capacity and tracing capacities. So when we re-emerge, we would be able to effectively do contact tracing.
    None of that is done.

    • September 11, 2020 at 2:12 pm

      “So we’re approaching 200,000 deaths.
And most of those are I think directly related to what this president refused to do. We don’t need a cheerleader. We needed a Commander in Chief to put in a national response. That’s what every successful country has done. And that’s what the United States has absolutely failed to do.”

    • September 11, 2020 at 2:16 pm

Hayes: “I want to ask specifically about the ways in which political pressure has over-ridden technical expertise. And that email that Paul Alexander…an appointee who is working for the president…telling…that there is zero evidence in the world of child transmission! It’s so dangerous, that you have this person telling Dr Anthony Fauci what to tell people about what the science says about transmission.”

“Well once again I find it stunning.
I have no idea why someone within HHS is trying to take control of what the public health officials should be telling the American public. They have really eroded the trust that the public should have in public health. They’ve eroded the ability of health officials to step out.”

    • September 11, 2020 at 2:17 pm

“The good news is nobody is going to tell Anthony Fauci what he should or should not say.
They have blocked him from appearances, which they really have done over and over again. But if he gets asked a question, Anthony Fauci will tell you the truth, tell you what he knows and what he doesn’t know. And do it in a very direct fashion. That’s what is very threatening to this administration. And I think that the fact that (someone) at DHSS is trying to suggest what Tony Fauci should and should not be saying, and is giving him directly contrary information to what we know the science says, is completely dangerous and outrageous.”
Hayes: “This (Peter Alexander) is not a civil service person with any expertise. This is just a political hack who got thrown in there.”

Guess am frustrated that we knew this for soo long, made myself hoarse blaring out the reports on what DeVos was doing…and heard nothing. The mob likes to traffic. Meanwhile little children lost their parents for no reason, and have no way to find them. ICE claimed they didn’t keep records on these children and couldn’t say where they had gone. Putting these children with white families looks to me like a political move on the right. And I said as much. Trump must pay.

The Paris Agreement built upon the Convention and for the first time brings all nations into a common cause to undertake ambitious efforts to combat climate change and adapt to its effects, with enhanced support to assist developing countries to do so. As such, it charted a new course in the global climate effort.⁣ ⁣ Of course, IMpotus withdrew from it, probably because Obama helped negotiate it.⁣ ⁣ From President Obama’s speech in Paris in 2015:⁣ ⁣ "But make no mistake, this agreement will help delay or avoid some of the worst consequences of climate change. It will help other nations ratchet down their dangerous carbon emissions over time, and set bolder targets as technology advances, all under a strong system of transparency that allows each nation to evaluate the progress of all other nations.⁣ ⁣ And by sending a signal that this is going to be our future — a clean energy future — it opens up the floodgates for businesses, and scientists, and engineers to unleash high-tech, low-carbon investment and innovation at a scale that we’ve never seen before. So this gives us the best possible shot to save the one planet we’ve got. ⁣ ⁣ That’s our most important mission, to make sure our kids and our grandkids have at least as beautiful a planet, and hopefully more beautiful, than the one that we have.”⁣ ⁣ #VOTETheWayYOUSeeIt because the health of our planet is at stake.⁣ ⁣
