I’m sorry. WTF!!!! There are MUCH better things too cut from defense than the healthcare of veterans and active duty personnel!

Oh, hell no! Get rid of some super costly military hardware, planes, etc. instead.

Who stands to gain from this … ???

Who is getting $$$ out of this?
Doesn’t make sense otherwise. Or perhaps I am just a hopeless cynic.

He’s looking for 1.75 Billion to cover the new FBI building that he wants put across the street from his scuzzy hotel instead out in the less expensive suburbs. He wants to prevent a competing hotel from moving there and, of course, business that would come from having a major federal agency HQ across the street. GOP tried to stick that in their version of the next pandemic relief bill. Dems balked and Rethugs were like “What? Oh, how did that get in there?”

INSANE. Each day crazier than the last. They are all completely NUTS. Prison is too good for these criminals.

Finally, and no surprise it is Speaker Pelosi leading the charge ….

And, this dude should ‘step up,’ big time ….

… if he has the personal fortitude to do so which I will only ‘hope’ he does.

I would think that he with all his squillions of dollars would want to save the very same democracy that made him a squillionaire.

    • August 16, 2020 at 10:35 pm

Bob, under Pennsylvania law, Amazon wouldn’t be authorized to handle ballots.

Also under federal law, I think.

But tell Bob (or not) it’s a better idea than I came up with, last night. I was – I swear to God, and I wasn’t even drinking wine – picturing the neighborhood ice cream truck’s picking up returned ballots.

In Georgia, absentee ballots cannot be delivered by anyone other than the voter, unless the voter is disabled.

Well folks, someone better devise a solution or this election is already decided – by Putin.

And, that is so far from hyperbole it is boringly obvious to anyone who has paid attention to what he has already accomplished.

Someone may have already commented on this (just getting back here), but Al Gore was ON FIRE on Anderson Cooper’s show tonight. He hit every note and represented Joe Biden, the Democratic party, everything anti-trump, brilliantly. Haven’t seen him in a while and I was TOTALLY impressed. Still smilin’!!!

I don’t know why people keep trying to rescue birther Melania. If you watch to the end, she’s gladly holding his hand as they walk the tarmac.

I have no sympathy for her. She chose this life. She willingly stepped up to amplify his birtherism and anti-immigrant rhetoric, plagiarized Mrs. Obama (I bet she’ll do it again at their convention this year) and had the nerve to wear that “I don’t care” jacket to go ogle at children in cages. Screw her.

This is performance art. She is positioning herself to survive the takedown. Every time she does this she well knows that cameras are everywhere recording this so that people can feel sorry for her. She is a birther and an opportunist. Used chain immigration to get her family here after she got here through fraud.

tRump likes to brag that he has a 90 something percent approval rating in the Republican party. Doesn’t he mean what’s LEFT of the Republican party??? A high percent of a smaller number.

Haven’t a number of people who identified as Republicans at the time he *took* office changed their identification?

“The Democratic party is basically a governing party, organized around developing and implementing public policies. The Republican party has become an attack party, organized around developing and implementing political vitriol. Democrats legislate. Republicans fulminate.
In theory, politics requires both capacities – to govern, but also to fight to attain and retain power.
The dysfunction today is that Republicans can’t govern
    and Democrats can’t fight.”

Definitely doesn’t make sense to, on one hand, demand that businesses re-open, and on the other hand, disrupt one of the main resources that help these businesses (especially small businesses) to operate and thrive.

Oh! I forgot! It’s all about him trying to get re-elected. Anything that doesn’t directly align with that goal is just collateral damage.

100 years since women were given the right to vote:
“August 18th marks 100 years since the 19th amendment was ratified giving women the right to vote.
But for women of color it took years after that day to gain the ability to freely vote.
Unpacking the legacy of what 100 years of voting for women truly means, Teen Vogue highlights 10 women of color advocating for change and voters’ rights as the cover story in their August issue.”
Alicia Menendez discusses what voting in 2020 means to Executive Editor of Teen Vogue, Samhita Mukhopadhyay, writer and activist Raquel Willis, and Alaskan Native student activist, Charitie Ropati:

    VOTER CAGING: “Caging Democracy:
A 50-Year History of Partisan Challenges to Minority Voters” (Teresa James, M.D.)
“Voter caging is a practice of sending non-forwardable direct mail to registered voters and using the returned mail to compile lists of voters, called “caging lists,” for the purpose of challenging their eligibility to vote. In recent years, other techniques, such as database matching, have been used to compile challenger lists.”
“State voter challenge statutes permit partisan individuals to challenge and disqualify voters, frequently without providing clear standards. These statutes often have their origins in post- reconstruction laws that were enacted to deprived african american voters of their franchise.”
“MEDIA CAMPAIGNS immediately before elections were a key part of voter caging operations.
part of the strategy was to call a press conference to announce the filing of mass challenges on the eve of the filing deadline. The challenges were billed as evidence of massive voter fraud although the voter caging lists were, in fact, only evidence of returned mailings. frequently, the pre-election media campaigns alleging voter fraud were as vigorously, or more vigorously, carried out than the challenges themselves.”
