Indeed, the memory of the horror of Hiroshima & Nagasaki must persist, forever.

Tragically, we are on the verge of a catastrophe the memory of which will haunt humanity indefinitely.

The day America irrevocably became an authoritarian satellite of Russia.

This is actually illegal, but the FEC doesn’t have a quorum b/c drumpf hasn’t made any new appts, so they can’t meet to regulate the campaigns. It hurts me in my heart to see how much drumpf and his administration and the GOP in Congress have hurt our democratic institutions, oversight and defied the Constitution itself all without consequence. It makes it hard for me to sleep at night. I worry all the time and this is aside from worrying about COVID.

When it was pointed out that he actually can’t win in 2020—that he won’t be on enough ballots to yield 270 electoral votes, and that a write-in campaign isn’t feasible—and thus was serving as a spoiler, West replied: “I’m not going to argue with you. Jesus is King.”

West rebuffed various attempts to clarify who was driving his ballot access or strategy and whether it’s being coordinated by or with Republican-affiliated officials. He does, however, appear to have a continuing relationship with the Trump White House.

I very rarely comment on this guy because he’s flat out disgusting, he’s a goddamn clown. And mark my words there are people that will happily vote for him. And to think that King and Lewis and many others put their life on the line, and some making the ultimate sacrifice. Yes, he disgust me.

      • August 6, 2020 at 9:54 pm

I know the purpose of him “walking” is to pull Black votes from Biden. While that may happen, I don’t believe *that* many Black voters will vote for him. Contrary to the belief of some, Black voters don’t vote for someone just because they are Black.

With each court loss, bad pandemic news, worsening economy, and declining poll numbers, I fear that we’ll see more selfish, vindictive, retaliatory behavior from the Orange Oval Office Occupant…actions designed to get as much personal benefit while wreaking as much havoc as possible on the way out…a lot of which will be hard to recover from.

    On ReidOut.
Aurora police force a Mom and her children to lay handcuffed face down on the street at gunpoint, for what?
Brittany Gilliam describes what happened to Joy Reid:
    Here…https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/watch/brittany-gilliam-handcuffed-with-kids-by-aurora-police-says-their-apology-is-not-good-enough-89679941752

    • August 7, 2020 at 11:11 am

Brittany Gilliam did nothing wrong. Neither did her children.
“A police dept in Aurora, Colorado says it’s sorry after putting innocent Black girls in handcuffs. Officers mistakenly believed they were riding a stolen car. This is the same dept responsible for the death of Elijah McClain. Brittany Gilliam, the woman handcuffed, says the apology from the Aurora Police Department is ‘not good enough.’ (see video)

    • August 7, 2020 at 11:13 am

Joy Reid to Brittany’s Attorney, David Lane:
“Your firm is also representing Elijah McClain’s family. Elijah McClain was a 23 year old young man who was also killed by Aurora police. Have you gotten any feedback from Aurora police that they understand that they need to fundamentally change the way they operate period toward black people. Because pointing guns at little kids, and making them lay on the ground for 12 to 15 minutes, and then not doing anything to try to calm screaming children who you pointed a gun at, doesn’t sound to me like proper police procedure.”

    • August 7, 2020 at 11:15 am

      Lane:
“Well I think if there is any department that I’m aware of in the country that needs to be defunded,
abolished and rebuilt from the ground up, it’s the Aurora police department. Lane and Newman is the firm I am in, and we have been doing Civil Rights cases for 25 years and Aurora is a frequent flyer. They just named Chief Wilson as a brand new Chief of Police this week. And my attitude is ‘Meet the new boss, same as the old boss’ until she can prove otherwise. I say there are some good applies in every department. By that I mean most cops are not violent. Most cops don’t want to violate the Constitution.
But most cops are enablers. They allow their violent brothers and sisters to do whatever they want, and they turn a blind eye, and they don’t write reports, and they don’t turn them in. And that’s the culture in Aurora. That’s the culture across the country. And until these enablers stop being enablers, this will never change. This culture of violence and this culture of ‘Back the Blue’ matter what will never change. So I have no reason to believe Aurora is ever going to change.”

      • August 7, 2020 at 11:18 am

        “But most cops are enablers.
They allow their violent brothers and sisters to do whatever they want,
and they turn a blind eye,
        and they don’t write reports,
and they don’t turn them in.”

Senator Peters speaks to Hayes on the Postal Service slowdown.
An investigation by the Homeland Security Committee with oversight over the Post Office is underway.
“This cannot occur, especially in the middle of a pandemic. People rely on the postal service to provide critical mail to them in a timely way,” says Sen. Peters, “That’s not happening, and we need to get to the bottom of it.”

    • August 7, 2020 at 11:46 am

Mail delays, mail piling up “like we’ve never seen before”.
Includes prescription medications, social security checks, essential drugs to veterans, pay as well as absentee ballots. Overtime has been limited. ransportation trucks not used. Processing machines limited. Employees report never before seen piles of mail when they’ve been trained to get it out as rapidly as possible. Especially iIn the middle of a pandemic we need critical mail in a timely way. Senator Peters asks why were these changes put in without testing them first? Implementing such changes without know the impact is entirely irresponsible.

    • August 7, 2020 at 12:08 pm

      Senator Peters:
“This is the only agency or the only entity that actually delivers to every single address in the United States, no matter where you live. It’s absolutely essential to folks in rural areas that rely on the Postal Service. We’ve got to make sure that this proud history of this organization of over 240 years continues to deliver the mail. And as you mention very accurately, postal workers say they never want to see a bag of mail laying on the floor. They want to get it out immediately.”

    • August 7, 2020 at 12:11 pm

MORE people and hours will be needed to deal with absentee ballots.
Looks like making the Post Offie look unreliable is part of the plot to privatize.
Making it look bad n the middle of a pandemic is an attempt to justify a greedy corporate takeover. Not only is USPS beloved and trusted, it is a fabulous equal opportunity employer. What deal does Trump have going with private companies? Please. We must come out and say how much we love USPS.

New York Attorney General lawsuit: “Executives used NRA as “personal piggy bank”:

    • August 7, 2020 at 3:11 pm

      The stunning AG Letitia James:
“Because it has gone on for far too long. An unchecked corporation with too much power. And a corporation that unfortunately ignored the law. Nobody is above the law including the NRA.”

    • August 7, 2020 at 3:12 pm

Maddow: “Now in response to your suit today which obviously made national news, this is a big deal given the political influence and reach of the NRA both over time and now. The president responded by saying that he thinks that the NRA should just get out of New York, move itself to Texas. The Texas Attorney General then tweeted that the state of course would welcome the NRA with open arms. When we saw that the president and the Texas Attorney General said that today, we contacted a number of legal experts who told us that that’s not a possibility. It may be a good PR move, but the way the NRA is chartered in New York, they can’t just up and move to any other state. They certainly can’t take any of their assets, which includes their name, their brand, and any of the ways in which they’ve represented themselves to the public. If they try to do this, will you have to take legal action to block them from doing that? Do you see them as having any legal toehold to stand on if they try to evade your jurisdiction by just dissolving themselves in New York and leaving?”

    • August 7, 2020 at 3:14 pm

      AG James:
“The NRA has to account for this not-for-profit corporation. They have to account to a court of law.
We filed to the Supreme Court today in the state of New York. And until such time as they account for their looting this corporation, this corporation cannot leave the state of New York at this point in time. They need the approval of the Office of the Attorney General. And so until such time as there is a full accounting, restitution, and they are removed as leaders of the NRA. And we will dissolve the corporation in its entirety. And they will not serve on any other not-for-profit in the state of New York. These individuals are not in a position to leave the state of New York, and the NRA as a corporation. It is also important to note that the Attorney General of D.C. also filed an action today against the NRA Foundation. And the Attorney General of D.C. is alleging that the Foundation was subject to the influence of Wayne LaPierre. And so we are again waiting the outcomes of these two major lawsuits that again question whether or not this corporation, the NRA itself, and these four individual defendants in fact failed to ensure and put in place fiscal controls, which allowed them to basically loot the corporation and use it as their own personal piggy bank.”
