‘They’ are not branding Trump for what he is – Putin’s most sophisticated and destructive ‘Active Measure.’
Most importantly, ‘they’ have refused to accept the fact that the previous 232 years of US Elections are NOT the appropriate context for this Election.
Those Elections were conducted when America was NOT CONTROLLED by a Foreign Power that has operated from the White House & Senate since 21 Jan 2017.
‘They’ need to escape that 232 year old bubble and then roll, accordingly.
To wit, ‘they’ need to take 2 Pragmatic “Make Good Trouble” Actions:
1. Organize the “Shield to Protect the Franchise (SPF)” Occupation for dawn to dusk on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
It should be the largest non-violent occupation of the US Capitol & Every State Capitol controlled by Republicans ever to have occurred.
The image I have is that of Millions of Citizens in DC and Republican Controlled States wearing a mask, standing 6 feet apart for miles stretching to every street and side street from the steps of those State Capitols and the US Capitol (and White House) outward.
The inspiration generated by that truly American Action would ignite our fellow Americans and the oppressed throughout the world like no amount of rhetoric has ever achieved.
2. Leverage the energy of the SPF Occupation to Motivate and Organize the creation of precinct-level “Protect the Franchise” Squads.
The Squads would FOCUS on pragmatic ACTIONS every American – ages 8 to 100+ – can take before and on 3 Nov 2020 to void the effectiveness of voter suppression tactics.
1 Since the DNC knows every precinct in which access to voting is being suppressed request the DNC provide to Protect the Franchise a comprehensive map of those precincts;
2 Use that map to target a Nation-wide recruitment effort in each of those precincts;
3 Recruit individuals and families from within, as well as, neighboring precincts to bring food, water, portable stools/chairs to polling places to provide comfort and sustenance to those being forced to wait in line;
4 Recruit retired teachers and other professional child care providers to establish on voting days a temporary, no charge ‘day care’ service so that parents are able to endure the several hours they may have to wait to vote;
5 Recruit musicians to perform for those forced to wait on sidewalks and in parking lots;
6 and, Recruit skilled story tellers, artists, and producers to create promotional videos with the intent to flood social media with “grass roots,” motivational, caring messages highlighting the fact that individuals in every City, Town, and Rural area should mobilize to do whatever they can to ensure that their neighbor, their fellow American will not be hindered from voting on whichever days their State authorizes for the 3 Nov 2020 National Election.
In conclusion, ‘they’ need to be vocal that we are AT WAR and have been under siege since before 2016.
We have been attacked by the most sophisticated enemy America has ever confronted.
That enemy is single minded in its mission to DESTROY American and global Democracy.
Without firing a single shot Putin has gutted America’s relationships with its allies, incited massive scale racial violence, destroyed America’s role in protecting the planet from climatic chaos, crashed our economy, enabled the spread of anti-science to the lethal consequences evidenced by more than 150,000 killed by COVID in less than 7 months, and and and and and ……. and on 3 Nov he is currently positioned to achieve his final objective by driving a nail into the coffin of American Democracy.
In other words, Putin has been remarkably successful and we have less than 100 days to turn the tide of his many victories and purge him and his troops from our White House, our US Capitol, and our State Capitols.

True. I live in Fla. the state sure to fuck up, especially in the areas that have a large number of Black voters and other POC. My particular part of the state never has problems and there are more active registered Democrats than Republicans, but I did my online request weeks ago (it was very easy) to vote in an election for judges and state representatives 8/18. Drove to the elections office today to drop off my completed ballot as a dry run for Nov. in case I decide not to trust the efficiency of the postal system for the General Election. The elections office here is rum primarily by Black women who are top notch and make sure that we know about and are covered when there is any voting chicanery coming out of Tallahassee.

I have heard Tom Perez on two Sirus programs this week and he went on and on about how “Believe me and trust me, we are developing the best______________ and ___________ and ___________ that any campaign has ever had in the history of campaigns. I don’t know exactly what all the brouhaha is actually about but it’s clear that one central aspect of it is as you describe – it is definitely going to be a woman and the pressure is there to select a Black woman. So signal the circus, which normally pays attention but now the MSM are having a field day carrying water for the GOP, doing their best to undermine the whole process. As far as the election and the chatter about the VP pick, my attitude is we will know when we know and whatever is going on, vote. Black people know that both sides use us and that we will get nothing or little out of either outcome. As ever, we go for the least objectional choice and go on to live our lives, making a way out of no way as we have sine we have been on these shores.
As to the acceptable collateral damage…my thoughts exactly. ANYTHING that they don’t think will adversely affect them or their ilk is okay. Same reason there is no rush to enact gun control laws. Same reason they are so unconcerned about health care. As long as they feel they are protected in their bubble, then everyone else is on their own.
Perhaps the town should get an ordinance that can help the workers in these bars and restaurants…so that they do not have to work….and put their lives at risk….

Dear Dudette,
In the previous blog post you noted: “Love the passion and sense of urgency. I feel like I’m missing something though. What are they not doing that they should be doing?”
‘They’ are not stating in unambiguous, simple language that ‘they’ have listened to Trump’s ACTIONS and ‘they’ will NEVER allow him to disrupt the vote or remain in Office if he is defeated.
‘They’ are not branding Trump for what he is – Putin’s most sophisticated and destructive ‘Active Measure.’
Most importantly, ‘they’ have refused to accept the fact that the previous 232 years of US Elections are NOT the appropriate context for this Election.
Those Elections were conducted when America was NOT CONTROLLED by a Foreign Power that has operated from the White House & Senate since 21 Jan 2017.
‘They’ need to escape that 232 year old bubble and then roll, accordingly.
To wit, ‘they’ need to take 2 Pragmatic “Make Good Trouble” Actions:
1. Organize the “Shield to Protect the Franchise (SPF)” Occupation for dawn to dusk on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
It should be the largest non-violent occupation of the US Capitol & Every State Capitol controlled by Republicans ever to have occurred.
The image I have is that of Millions of Citizens in DC and Republican Controlled States wearing a mask, standing 6 feet apart for miles stretching to every street and side street from the steps of those State Capitols and the US Capitol (and White House) outward.
The inspiration generated by that truly American Action would ignite our fellow Americans and the oppressed throughout the world like no amount of rhetoric has ever achieved.
2. Leverage the energy of the SPF Occupation to Motivate and Organize the creation of precinct-level “Protect the Franchise” Squads.
The Squads would FOCUS on pragmatic ACTIONS every American – ages 8 to 100+ – can take before and on 3 Nov 2020 to void the effectiveness of voter suppression tactics.
1 Since the DNC knows every precinct in which access to voting is being suppressed request the DNC provide to Protect the Franchise a comprehensive map of those precincts;
2 Use that map to target a Nation-wide recruitment effort in each of those precincts;
3 Recruit individuals and families from within, as well as, neighboring precincts to bring food, water, portable stools/chairs to polling places to provide comfort and sustenance to those being forced to wait in line;
4 Recruit retired teachers and other professional child care providers to establish on voting days a temporary, no charge ‘day care’ service so that parents are able to endure the several hours they may have to wait to vote;
5 Recruit musicians to perform for those forced to wait on sidewalks and in parking lots;
6 and, Recruit skilled story tellers, artists, and producers to create promotional videos with the intent to flood social media with “grass roots,” motivational, caring messages highlighting the fact that individuals in every City, Town, and Rural area should mobilize to do whatever they can to ensure that their neighbor, their fellow American will not be hindered from voting on whichever days their State authorizes for the 3 Nov 2020 National Election.
In conclusion, ‘they’ need to be vocal that we are AT WAR and have been under siege since before 2016.
We have been attacked by the most sophisticated enemy America has ever confronted.
That enemy is single minded in its mission to DESTROY American and global Democracy.
Without firing a single shot Putin has gutted America’s relationships with its allies, incited massive scale racial violence, destroyed America’s role in protecting the planet from climatic chaos, crashed our economy, enabled the spread of anti-science to the lethal consequences evidenced by more than 150,000 killed by COVID in less than 7 months, and and and and and ……. and on 3 Nov he is currently positioned to achieve his final objective by driving a nail into the coffin of American Democracy.
In other words, Putin has been remarkably successful and we have less than 100 days to turn the tide of his many victories and purge him and his troops from our White House, our US Capitol, and our State Capitols.
I’ve offered a reality-based strategic context and two specific sets of inter-related ACTIONS that can serve to defeat Putin.
‘They’ are way more creative than I am so if ‘they’ will just escape that damn 232 year old bubble and “Make Good Trouble” like their LIFE depended on it we might indeed someday celebrate the manifestation of the ‘promise of America’ that our Founding Father of Democracy – Rep John Lewis – envisioned for it (and the world).

True. I live in Fla. the state sure to fuck up, especially in the areas that have a large number of Black voters and other POC. My particular part of the state never has problems and there are more active registered Democrats than Republicans, but I did my online request weeks ago (it was very easy) to vote in an election for judges and state representatives 8/18. Drove to the elections office today to drop off my completed ballot as a dry run for Nov. in case I decide not to trust the efficiency of the postal system for the General Election. The elections office here is rum primarily by Black women who are top notch and make sure that we know about and are covered when there is any voting chicanery coming out of Tallahassee.

The fibroids were so bad they had not only consumed my uterus but she to scrape them off my lungs, intestines and some other organs. The procedure took 4 times the usual time to complete and she almost lost me. My doctor told me my case was so extreme it might end up in a textbook.

I have heard Tom Perez on two Sirus programs this week and he went on and on about how “Believe me and trust me, we are developing the best______________ and ___________ and ___________ that any campaign has ever had in the history of campaigns. Could not agree with you more about Tom Perez and all the others.
They demonstrate ZERO awareness that Putin & Trump are operating on a level completely unprecedented in American Electoral History.
Trump & Putin & the GOP could not be more delighted that as each day passes that Dem leadership remains mired in status quo Election preparation. They have every intention of destroying the Election process and, if that fails, refuse to exit peacefully.
What’s so confounding is that they have never tried to hide those intentions.
In fact, they have broadcasted their disdain for the Electoral process and have taken innumerable steps to render it defunct.
Anyone doubting those statements should ask a simple question — When has Trump ever acted in a way consistent with the Constitution of the United States except that he participated in the Inauguration on 20 Jan 2017.
He has never conformed with the Rule of Law and escaped any form of meaningful consequence so why would he even ‘bat an eye’ at planning to solidify his already accelerating & highly profitable Dictatorship.
As noted more than once in the past few weeks, you have ZERO chance of winning a war if you underestimate your enemy.
Americans should remember that both Bonaparte and Hitler did exactly that in their confrontation with Russia and as a result they were crushed.
Putin has been conducting his asymmetrical war against the US since ~ 2000 and hated the US long before that.

Answer: Because they are locked in the inertia of a 232 year Electoral tradition. Rather than use the technical term ‘inertia’ to describe their current state, I used the term ‘bubble’ since that analogy more readily conveys being constrained by a fragile, naive sense of entitlement.

I don’t know exactly what all the brouhaha is actually about but it’s clear that one central aspect of it is as you describe – it is definitely going to be a woman and the pressure is there to select a Black woman. So signal the circus, which normally pays attention but now the MSM are having a field day carrying water for the GOP, doing their best to undermine the whole process. The next big thing they’re going to attack is our DNC convention because it’s going to be virtual and they likely aren’t going to make the same kind of money they usually do. So they are going to find a million things wrong with it.
I’m not sure why VP Biden is pushing back the decision for another week or so. Maybe it’s a scheduling thing. I am rooting for Kamala Harris because I believe she had the experience, the deep strategic intelligence and attention to detail, the drive and the right heart and commitment to serve to make us proud. However, I will support whatever decision Joe makes because it his decision to make and live with and I will do my best to GOTV going forward. We absolutely MUST be victorious in November.

The governor sets those rules and the mayor and commission have encouraged us to play by the rules, but they don’t want to do that themselves. All of this obstruction will end when more white people fill up the ICUs, the “meat wagons” and the mass graves. Nothing in this country is an emergency or a concern until it adversely affects large numbers of white people. All of these white men in govt. looked at the data and saw that the dead were mostly Native, Hispanic, and Black people and true to form, decided these lives do not matter and it is time to open everything up. We are considered acceptable collateral damage so that white people can pretend that everything is fine. New day; same shit.
As far as the election and the chatter about the VP pick, my attitude is we will know when we know and whatever is going on, vote. Black people know that both sides use us and that we will get nothing or little out of either outcome. As ever, we go for the least objectional choice and go on to live our lives, making a way out of no way as we have sine we have been on these shores.
As to the acceptable collateral damage…my thoughts exactly. ANYTHING that they don’t think will adversely affect them or their ilk is okay. Same reason there is no rush to enact gun control laws. Same reason they are so unconcerned about health care. As long as they feel they are protected in their bubble, then everyone else is on their own.
Perhaps the town should get an ordinance that can help the workers in these bars and restaurants…so that they do not have to work….and put their lives at risk….
How different things would now be in GA..if Stacey Abrams had won…how many Georgians would still be alive….
Exactly. They are not putting themselves or their families’ lives at risk. How many of those bar owners will actually be working in the bars. And of course masks are not required and social distancing won’t be happening.
