Sen. Harris: "Donald Trump is terrified. He knows he's going to lose to Joe Biden. It will require every single one of us to make that happen. We will see you at the ballot box on November 3rd, President Trump."
Rep. Clyburn: "The President’s suggestion of delaying the election on the day we lay John Lewis to rest is the most despicable affront to his memory & legacy. Americans will rise up & continue John's fight for unfettered access to the ballot box. Our voices will not be silenced."
Rep. Rodney Davis: "There will be no delay in the #2020Election. Congress sets the election date, and it should not be changed. It will be held on November 3rd, as planned and required by law."
Congressman John Lewis' funeral and the remembrance of his life is warm and nourishing in a way that I think a lot of us–if not most of us–need right now. You can watch it live here: https://t.co/8xv25l16Bo

Folks, Rev. Dr. James Lawson is sheer brilliance. He is 91 and still as sharp as ever. He founded the Nashville Movement. He trained so many of these leaders!!! My 2018 interview with him. https://t.co/as0XTQimAa#RolandMartinUnfiltered
If you don’t listen to anything else of #JohnLewis funeral, listen to the words of #JamesLawson . He was the central first teacher of the non-violent Black American youth movement. He is giving the necessary genealogy. These are the words of a Doma. Take them down. Learn them.

These remarks from Jamila Thompson, deputy chief of staff to Rep. John Lewis, are incredible. She began by expressing how great an honor it is for the staff to serve the district. It's clear the congressman's office was more than a place of work, but a place of fellowship.
“We were honored to serve him” says Jamila Thompson, deputy chief of staff, who’s speaking on behalf of the staff.

Listening to John Lewis’s Dep. Chief of Staff, Jamila Thompson he comes alive even more. He was always in our business she says with a big grin. He brought cookies, brownies. Every visitor to our office was welcomed. He was so proud to represent. On a mission to serve.

Even after his passing, John Lewis reminds us that the most powerful symbol of what it means to be an American is what we do with the time we have to make real the promise of our nation.
There were no camera crews. John Lewis and so many of his generation went into dangerous uncharted territory..in regions where lynchings were occurring…at a young age. In a pre-social media, non- cell phone era.
Whenever I think/read about CRM leaders from the era of John Lewis, Fannie Lou Hamer…I think about the absolute danger they faced, far and close to home. Moving and traveling in those days with no cell phones, no social media to document the brutal treatment they faced.

Good evening TODville.
What an incredible day, listening to moving tributes to Rep.Lewis.
I just finished listening to forever first lady’s podcast. I truly and really loved it. Listening to PBO and FLMO … it was so refreshing. I could almost imagine the neighbourhood they lived and worked in. Made me miss that sense of community.
Have a good evening everyone. Thank you NW for this community you keep open for all of us.
