Can’t call out Trump without calling out his enablers in Congress….because of them….he continues on this path to authoritarianism

Portland’s Governor needs to call up the National Guard to PROTECT the protestors. This needs to be stopped before it spreads.

We marched, cried, kneeled with our hands up, organized and pushed for change; we ran for office and won, but the oppressors came back even stronger. Too many stood by thinking that it was not their fight or were delighted when we were met with tear gas, batons, rabid dogs, fire hoses and guns. Too many did not want to believe that “injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.” Now the dark forces have come for them, the government has turned against them, their rights are being trampled and there is no one left in power to hear their cries.

Ms. Dorothy Height, President, National Council of Negro Women, was a co-convener and original member of the “Big Six;” however, she was a woman… Hence, no speaking role; scant press acknowledgement; however, she did more than her fair share of the work…

So live, that when thy summons comes to join
      The innumerable caravan, which moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.

          J’Ob,
Maybe like me you had a break-up with the world this weekend on a few fronts, as yet unhealed.
Seeing meta’s post made me think of the last part of a Shakester sonnet.
“Let this sad interim like the ocean be
Which parts the shore, where two contracted new
Come daily to the banks, that, when they see
          Return of love, more blest may be the view;
Else call it winter, which being full of care
Makes summer’s welcome thrice more wish’d, more rare.”
(56: “Sweet love renew thy force”)

    PROFESSOR BLEACH:
“We’re signing a health care plan within two weeks —
a full and complete health care plan that the Supreme Court decision on DACA gave me the right to do. So we’re going to solve — we’re going to sign an immigration plan, a health care plan and various other plans. And nobody will have done what I’m doing in the next four weeks. The Supreme Court gave the president of the United States powers that nobody thought the president had by approving, by doing what they did — their decision on DACA. And DACA’s going to be taken care of also. But we’re getting rid of it, because we’re going to replace it with something much better. What we got rid of already, which was most of Obamacare — the individual mandate. And that I’ve already won on. And we won also on the Supreme Court. But the decision by the Supreme Court on DACA allows me to do things on immigration, on health care, on other things that we’ve never done before. And you’re going to find it to be a very exciting two weeks.”

“Trump and the Republican National Committee chose more than a month ago to move the convention festivities to Florida after Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper refused to promise a “full-fledged” convention in Charlotte, where Trump had planned to address a packed Spectrum Center. The 2020 Jacksonville Host Committee initially announced plans to focus the convention around the 15,000-seat VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, located downtown.

But in Republican-led Florida — and Republican-led Jacksonville — state regulations currently limit entertainment venues to 50% capacity, and the city has ordered that masks be worn indoors in public places to prevent the increased spread of COVID-19.

All of that contributed to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel’s decision last week to limit attendance to Trump’s speech to about 7,500 delegates and guests. And that was before Jacksonville’s Republican sheriff warned that a lack of clarity and a paucity of resources have made it all but impossible to safely police the party’s gatherings.”

So glad he removed it from Democratic led North Carolina. All fcuk-ups are now on #virus45, although, as always, he’ll blame others. #ETTD

    VP Biden to Joy Reid:
“Those folks who have lost somebody feel like they have been dragged into a dark, deep hole in the middle of their chest. They don’t know what to do. They are scared to death and what’s the president do?
He talks about taking away health insurance completely and he says he’s going to replace it with what?
He’s been talking about that forever. Zero. I, quite frankly, don’t get it and I don’t understand how he thinks it appeals to the American people. Overwhelmingly, the American people want us to keep Obamacare and improve on it, not get rid of it. In the middle of a pandemic with hundreds of thousands of people ill and dying – and he wants to take away health insurance? My lord.”

On the vetting for VP process: “We have gone through about four candidates so far in the two-hour vetting, and we will get all the vetting done of all the candidates, and then I am going to narrow the list, and then I will have personal discussions with each of the candidates who are left,” Biden said. He has indicated that he expects to name a running mate around Aug. 1, which is next week.”

It’s been a little crazy on my end. Started to write this post, got interrupted by a zillion phone calls from so many folks who knew my Mum.

Yes, we had her farewell yesterday. A magnificent techie accomplishment, spanning several continents. And I mean several! Never in my wildest dreams did I have in my mind that quarantine of US travellers would enforce that “wall”. Yup, US is the pariah in governance worldwide travel. Question: how much lower is America going to “travail” before the entire globe hits the exit, & it becomes

Then the service & farewell for my Parent via Zoom. Am still in awe of how we pulled it together, & in dismay at where we are so far behind the rest of the world in COVID.

Am a little fragile right now (this was a lifetime toughie), but wanted to send love to my TOD family. Thank you so much for all your kind words.

So many things I learned from others at my Mum’s farewell. I couldn’t believe how Manny folks from the entire globe were there, via Zoom & onsite. Those on site strongly followed social distancing, masks & all. We’re the only country being foolish.

Once I decompress, find my adequate words, I’ll post my thoughts. I’ve been running a marathon instead of a 100 meter dash. Right now I just want to find my ability to just breathe.

TOD family has made me smile so many times. I sure needed those cackles. Thank you for those beauty breaks! 💞
