Hi mae! Have a beautiful day despite the rain!

    • July 15, 2020 at 4:29 pm

Good afternoon, Mae! I so miss Nevis and St Kitts. Right now my achy body could use a dip in the hot springs. Can’t wait until this pandemic is over and it is safe to travel. Told my friends to expect me in December 2021…

Good morning all. Appreciate those tweets about Tuberville on previous thread. I live in SEC (South Eastern Conference for college football) country. HUGE in this entire region. Sure I will find a use for that info. 🙂

Getting busy making GOTV calls for one of our County Commission candidates. Later……….Good day to all.

Good morning dear TOD family. My husband and I are in need of some quiet time away from all this craziness so we are heading out camping for several days on the Blackfoot River where there is no cell service. I’m going to read and sleep.

I’m leaving all of you in charge. Keep the information coming and fight it he good fight. Thank you so much Nerdy Wonka for keeping us going, you are the best.

Stay well and stay sane everyone.

Congrats on getting here first, Mae52 and thanks for the wish to be free of Trumpvirus. I have to go to the dentist today after putting it off for a month. Maybe I should have gone earlier when Oregon’s numbers were quite a bit lower than they are now. At least our Governor has mandated mask wearing statewide indoors and out (if you are within 6 feet of another person).

Yup! Good on our Oregon Governor Brown! I got back from VA/DC after a month visit with my daughter and family one week prior to our Stay at Home orders, a day before my dr scheduled toenail clipping. I lack the flexibility with a bad hip to do it myself and due to other conditions it is not recommended to get a pedicure. Our tribal clinic still is not open for regular type medical or dental appointments so I understand what you are saying about the dentist. Yesterday I went to a local podiatrist with my dr referral for my toenail clipping. I had visions of being in that scary book Ripley Believe It Or Not for world’s longest toenail record. He was nice but only trimmed them didn’t file or anything and I was thinking I bet this is a really an expensive toenail clipping!

One of the first thoughts I had about the bullying to open the schools was about this subject. How are the children and the teachers going to feel when they face a certain reality that they helped spread the disease, helped to bring on the death of someone else in their classrooms and/or their homes? What kind of guilt will this engender for the rest of their own lives? A really horrible possibility that is so unthinkable.

      • July 15, 2020 at 12:52 pm

This is a total disaster…i feel like we are all living in a twilight zone…the stakes keep getting higher and higher..and more folks are becoming infected and dying with no end in sight……and now Trump wants to Hijack the data..to either destroy or distort it…the media published a hit piece on Dr Fauci. It is a travesty…they are either willing accomplices or dupes..

Sometimes i do not know how i keep from going under

        • July 15, 2020 at 2:26 pm

Some days I wake up and just can’t bear the idiocy of it all. The idea that this horrible idiot and his grotesque family and racist minions are in our WH taking a wrecking ball to everything in sight. Each day worst than the last. I just cannot fathom the outsized depravity of it all.

      • July 15, 2020 at 3:31 pm

Among the most beloved members of our public elementary school family were the custodians and the cafeteria lady – all people of color. Their exposure and vulnerability to this awful disease put them at the highest risk. Kids will mourn them, too.

This is gut wrenching. As my district is deciding on whether to start just online, or do a hybrid, I am very afraid they will give into pressure to go hybrid. I am very anxious about this.

I have Michelle Obama’s guided Journal for discovering my voice…i must say that it has been a challenge in doing just that…

one of the passages asks me to name 10 things that i want..and to name 1 step that i am doing to bring it into fruition…

at 67…things are different then when i was 37….

even telling the story of my voice is not a narrative…but a series of events…and stages

this is indeed a trial…but i think it is a worthy task…it has forced me to look inward…i will keep you posted on my progress…

    • July 15, 2020 at 12:26 pm

has anyone else picked up the Journal…if so..i would like to know how your progress has been

One of the best books I ever read was Pat Riley’s “The Winner Within.” Yes he talks about basketball and teamwork and how to overcome obstacles as a team in pursuit of a championship. But for me the book was about the journey a person takes in life, it isn’t about the outcome, its about the journey to the outcome. The journey itself is the lesson.

Double YESSSSS….I was having this exact same conversation with my brother, he’s in his late 50’s or early 60’s (forgive me for not knowing his exact age) but he likes to start business ventures, from selling t-shirts to selling vitamins. And he’s always calling me to get my opinion on things. One day he told me that he doubts he’ll ever stop seeking out stuff to do or to sell. He says the process of researching something is what keeps him going. To him it isn’t about making money, what gets him off is the PROCESS of making money.

I will be finding a designated drop box for my absentee ballot…

Have you noticed a slowdown in your mail delivery recently? Letters taking longer to reach you? Some days when you don’t get mail at all? If you have, you’re not alone.

Back in May, the USPS Board of Governors named Louis DeJoy to be postmaster general, despite the fact that he had no experience with the Postal Service. He was, however, one of the country’s leading Republican donors; since 2016 he has given over $2 million to the Trump campaign and Republican causes. He was made the finance chairman of the 2020 Republican convention, and his wife was nominated by Trump to be ambassador to Canada.

After taking the helm at USPS, DeJoy began looking to cut costs in the name of “efficiency.” Among his methods was banning the use of overtime…The inevitable result is that the service all of us receive from the Postal Service becomes slower and less reliable.

—while untold numbers of customers missing their mail for a day or two is bad, on Nov. 3 it could turn into an absolute nightmare…

    • July 15, 2020 at 4:46 pm

Thirty-five states now either allow no-excuse absentee voting or vote entirely by mail, and during this pandemic, more people than ever will choose to avoid polling places and cast their ballot that way…the Postal Service will have to handle more absentee requests and ballots than ever before — and Trump’s postmaster general has forbidden its workers from working overtime.

In 34 states, under current law it’s not enough that your absentee ballot be postmarked by election day. It has to be received by election authorities by election day.

That includes the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

It’s already been happening in the primaries; last month, NPR reported that “at least 65,000 absentee or mail-in ballots have been rejected because they arrived past the deadline, often through no fault of the voter.” And the number of mail ballots will be far larger in the general election.

        July 15, 2020 at 6:40 pm

This is worrisome. How do we know the ballots will be delivered- and on time.

I hope the folks whose companies are giving them election day off, would help the Democratic party to volunteer somehow.
I almost want to say maybe there has to be some kind of collection process organized by the Democrats.
I would not put it past the Repubs to have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves.

VP Biden is well suited to liberate even some of those haters along with the already clear majority of Americans who want to flush trump and his hate/criminal brigade.

While Georgia is not spiking at the levels of FL and TX, our numbers are still spiking. That they are not higher makes me wonder if the numbers are being manipulated. Either way, we have an idiot in the state house whose purpose for being there is not to benefit the citizens of Georgia, but to benefit himself and his pocket.

Use common sense, Georgians (all US citizens)!!! Wear a face mask and keep your distance!!!

While we continue to acknowledge that tRump is incompetent and unfit for office, we also have to acknowledge that much of what he does (or doesn’t do ) is deliberate and works toward his personal goals.

The Trump presidency is often described as whipsawed by competing impulses. In this telling, Trump’s reactionary, illiberal, anti-democratic tendencies periodically flare up and do targeted damage, but they often run aground against competing forces — his incompetence and the distraction of narcissism.

Law professors David Pozen and Kim Lane Scheppele present “executive underreach” as a species of leadership failure that’s as destructive as executive overreach, defining it as:

“a national executive branch’s willful failure to address a significant public problem that the executive is legally and functionally equipped (though not necessarily legally required) to address.”

But crucially, the paper links this phenomenon to fundamentally illiberal and anti-democratic tendencies: Hostility to science and expertise; and the leader’s abiding faith in his ability to confuse the public with disinformation as a substitute for acting in the national interest, all typical of “demagogic populists” like Trump…
