Are Black people that stupid? I doubt it. We’re politically savvy enough to know that Kanye is a huge Trump supporter and there’s no reason to vote for such an egotistical man over Biden. Kanye is not a serious candidate.

          July 5, 2020 at 3:43 pm

I hope I’m wrong and it’s just a PR stunt, but you may be underestimating the level of stupidity in this country and the depths to which the other side will go to keep trump in power. Also he has a lot of non-Black fans. Many of his fans are young Sanders and Warren supporters or who hadn’t cared about politics until this year.

If he really wants to, he would have no trouble getting 7500 signatures to get on the ballot in Georgia by mid-August. With Elon Musk’s backing (Elon’s reply to his announcement indicates he has it), he could be the “trout in the milk”.

I understand your concern but at least the Black people I know are deadly serious about voting Trump out of office. Kanye is a joke. No one in their right mind can take his presidential run seriously. But I understand where you’re coming from. Shame on him for even doing this. So ridiculous.

I’m with you. I also remember people not thinking trump as a candidate was ridiculous. Do I see Kanye winning? Nope. Could he impact the election? Stranger things have happened. It’s possible. Whether it’s probable, I’ll leave to the experts.

PM Trudeau: “And today we’re demonstrating a first step forward with support for municipalities as they face a cash crunch. From testing clinics to programs for seniors, cities and towns provide essential services. So it’s crucial that they have the resources they need. In response to COVID-19 we will make available $2.2 Billion for municipalities in the coming weeks through their yearly federal support, with the gas tax fund. Normally municipalities receive these payments in two installments. But we know that cities and towns need this money right away, as they deal with COVID-19.”

      • July 5, 2020 at 1:44 pm

PM Trudeau: “That’s why we’re making the full 2020-2021 payment available now.
Minister McKenna has sent letters to all of her provincial and territorial counterparts to outline how this accelerated process will work. But here’s the bottom line. This is strong support to keep Canadians safe and our communities strong.”

So a week or so ago, I mentioned that I had some good news for a change!! I want to share my good news with my TOD family. I will post this here. The author (first time!) is my son. I could not be more proud. I had some reservations about posting this here myself, but we’re family here and share our joy This is my joy right now:)
He has always wanted to write. Always. He was a voracious reader and still is… I have tons of tales to tell about my reader son, but just know that this mama is proud. THIS is what real freedom looks like to me. The true ability to follow your dreams and do what brings you joy.
Understand that this is an introduction to characters and a world that will be a gaming app that has not been released yet… so it is written the way it is on purpose. I hope that you read it and share this on your social media and encourage others to share as well. It takes a village, for sure. Thanks all❤️

Congrats mp to you and your son. Am not privy to this world at all! But creativity is a great thing and my own children have all manifested it and followed their hearts. I bet like mine, your children read up a storm, on topics of their own choosing, starting at an age of their own choosing. Thank you so much…. well he is my youngest and he begged me as a really young kid to yea h him to read. He would cry. While he was in class, he would have a book in his lap and be reading that while the teacher was teaching… he was very smart though. He’d listen to her with one ear and continue reading his book under his desk:) His teacher told me that after the fact…. His grades were always good so I didn’t say much…. personally, I think he was a bit bored in class:(

    STFU
    GOP Chair McDaniel!!
GOP ended the incredible Obama economic recovery = the strongest job economy in 50 years.
FACT: “Recession began in February, ending longest U.S. expansion ever.”
FACT: “Just weeks earlier in February, the jobless rate stood at 3.5%, the lowest rate in 50 years”
Now we’re at the worst in 90 years.

    • July 5, 2020 at 4:56 pm

Millions more UB applications are coming…
The 5 million jobs McDaniel is crowing about are Rehires and Furloughed people who were laid off.
Now they’re have no choice but to return even in a pandemic. Many workers who didn’t receive the first round of aid are being told there’ll be no more help, because McConnell doesn’t want their families to eat.
Let’s not forget how McConnell fought tooth and nail to prevent the economic recovery under PBO.
For 8 years, GOP blocked all Jobs Bills including the Veterans Jobs Bill.

Also, make sure you know the rules for receiving and accepting mail-in/absentee ballots. I believe in some states, the ballot will be accepted as long as it is postmarked by election day. I found out in Georgia (thankfully in time) that the ballot must be received at the election office (or designated drop box locations) by 7PM on election day to be accepted.

    Ghislaine Maxwell, Trump:
“In June, President Donald Trump fired New York’s top federal prosecutor, Geoffrey Berman.
Berman, who Trump nominated as the US Attorney for the Southern District Attorney job in the first place, had overseen multiple prosecutions of Trump’s associates. He had also prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein, a one-time Trump friend, on sex-trafficking charges. Less than two weeks after Trump booted Berman from his office, his replacement Audrey Strauss, announced the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell.”

Data in the July 2 jobs report was collected before the coronavirus surge in mid-June.
The ‘job gains’ we saw were mainly people who were furloughed and have returned to work.
Adam Ozimek, senior economist and assistant direct at Moody’s Analytics writes for the Modeled Behavior blog at Forbes, speaking to Hayes:
    Ozimek:
“I think it’s a particularly misleading labor market right now….at the end of the day there’s still 15 million people who lost their jobs. The unemployment rate is bigger than it ever was during the great recession.”

    • July 6, 2020 at 12:25 pm

      Ozimek:
“If you have small businesses, the census poll survey looked at how many think they’re going to be back to normal within six months. And at food services and accommodation, it’s 75% think it’s going to be six months or longer till they’re back to normal. So a lot of businesses, a lot of industries, they have a very long slow recovery ahead of them.”

    • July 6, 2020 at 12:27 pm

Hayes: “Basically McConnell, a lot of people in the republican senate, and some advisers to the president, want no further rescue money put into the economy, because I think they’re case is:
You need to smoke people out of their coronavirus holes and starve them out of there, so that they have to go back to work. Because if they make it too possible for them not to work, no one will come back to work, the economy won’t get back together, and the president won’t get re-elected and the republicans will get crushed. This seems insane to me but there is some thinking like that. What do you think? It seems we need rescue money here.”
      Ozimek:
“Yes I think with unemployment rate still at 12% and this many people still out of work, and we’re this far from recovered, we definitely need more fiscal spending, especially you know, in targeted areas. I think small businesses that are struggling the most are going to continue to fail. I think unemployment benefits expiring is going to be bad news for households. And I think state and local government needs more money too. And I understand that’s a lot of money. I understand that we spent a lot of money already, but you know we’re dealing with an historic economic crisis here. I don’t think sitting back is going to accomplish what we want, and I don’t think trying to force people back into the labor market, by making unemployment benefits cheaper is going to do the job either.”

    • July 6, 2020 at 12:29 pm

Hayes: “I think sometimes economists, and people on Wall Street and the analysts are missing this…
you gotta suppress the virus. You can have all the economic incentives in the world. You can try to reopen the Arizona economy, you can try to get nightlife and bar life hopping in Austin again…if you’ve got an outbreak that’s not going to work.”
      Ozimek:
“Yes I think there was this idea early on, that really the lockdowns were doing all the economic work,
and that you could just end the lockdowns and people would go back to normal. But the evidence that we’ve seen so far, some well-done studies, and common sense suggests that you end the lockdowns and people don’t go back to normal. It’s really the virus that’s changing behavior. And quite frankly if people did go back to normal, that’s going to be even more problematic.”
