Honored Juneteenth by donating to Octavia House to send two young Oregon Black Student Union Presidents, Amerrah and Abdi to D.C. for a march and training in August.

Crickets from Republicans. Vote them all out. We may not have a country if they have any power at all.

    • June 20, 2020 at 8:24 am

When i see things like this DF…i wonder if voting is enough to save us…but i have been heartened by the world wide protests…by the courage and resilence of the young people..

I am encouraged to see.that the military is not quite ready to do the bidding of Trump on all things…

i am not so certain about the local police…i am not sure who they have allegaince to…if they do have allegiance it might just be to themselves…the fact that officers would resign because other officers are being held accountable for wrongding…makes me wonder what they would do..

Voting is EVERYTHING! In such numbers as to make it crystal clear that we have been revolted by all that he is and want a country we can be proud of. Our voices must rise up and say ENOUGH! We can do this!

YES! VOTING is our power. If we can just keep the faint at heart going to the polls for local voting, our voices will be heard.

I do not see the point about all of the postings and warnings about this. These people are knowingly and willfully and joyfully going to this rally. It is all part of their usual behavior so I do not get why anyone is surprised or is wasting breath, ink, and bandwidth to talk about this. Too many white folks think that they will not be affected by this virus and act accordingly. What the rest of us need to do is try to protect ourselves and let the chips fall where they may.

Rev Sharpton speaking in Tulsa last. night:
“Give me the date that America was great for everybody.”
“When was America great for everybody?”

  37. June 20, 2020 at 12:53 pm

“This is a super spreader event in downtown Tulsa.”
“Greenwood District stakeholders sue to enforce COVID-19 guidelines at Trump rally.” (Tulsaworld)
Attorneys Paul DeMuro and Clark Brewster for Tulsa local residents and business addressed the media:
“We would be seeking the same relief
no matter if this was a concert,
no matter if this was an NBA game,
or no matter if this was another political candidate.
This has nothing to do with politics.
This has everything to do with public safety.
This is not a question of whether additional people will be infected and die in Tulsa.
It’s just a question of how many.
People are going to be allowed in and sit as closely as possible to each other.
19,000 people chanting, screaming and yelling in a big box.
in the middle of the worst pandemic we may have faced as a country.
It’s madness to let this event go foward.” (per Maddow)

NOT A MOMENT TO WASTE. BRAVO.

  39. June 20, 2020 at 2:43 pm

Regina Goodwin, Oklahoma State Representative for the 73rd District, which includes the Greenwood District where she grew up and where her grandfather started the local newspaper, spoke last night with Rachel Maddow.
    Regina Goodwin:
“And no one would ask for this. But we felt that we’re going to have to deal with this situation and do what we’ve always done. What we’ve always done here is take care of each other. We’ve always fought for justice. And
we’ve also hopefully done our ancestors proud in terms of … their legacy. So we have to continue to publicize justice, equity, and all things that have always mattered. We have never actually received justice in Tulsa, Oklahoma. So that’s an ongoing fight for us.”

    • June 20, 2020 at 2:45 pm

Maddow: “What do you think will happen tomorrow in the city when the president’s rally happens…we don’t know what will happen if there is a significant number of people can’t get inside…
      it seems like a tinderbox.”
      Regina Goodwin:
“So what we expect here in Tulsa, we’re not going to be distracted by the divisiveness of racism.
We’re not going to be distracted by the foolishness of double talk. We’re going to continue Rachel, to do what we’ve always done here. What we’ve got to do here is have an overflow of justice. What we’ve got to do here is vote come June 30th as it relates to Medicaid Expansion. There are real issues in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And they’re going to be going on when this all blows over. We’re going to be here. And we’re going to hopefully handle what we do with dignity and grace.”

    • June 20, 2020 at 2:47 pm

Maddow: “There has been consternation I know, over some of the Mayors decisions…heartache and a lot of concerned voices, including by doctors and nurses in Tulsa, about the event that’s happening tomorrow. And about how things seem to be going really in the wrong direction in terms of Coronavirus. Can you talk to me at all about how you feel about Oklahoma’s leadership right now on Coronavirus, and whether smart decisions are being made? I’ve been very concerned for example, to see the Governor say at this point in the epidemic in Oklahoma, that people can go back into nursing homes and start visiting in nursing homes again which seems like a very risky decision. How do you feel about leadership in your state on that issue?”

    • June 20, 2020 at 2:49 pm

      Regina Goodwin:
“I can tell you unequivocally that I thought that the Governor opened up Oklahoma up too soon.
The numbers have been much higher than the numbers basically had been told to the public. So the numbers are increasing. We didn’t really get the real data that we should have gotten. And then Oklahoma, they just picked a date and that was not according to data. And they opened up Oklahoma back up too soon. And I think we have found ourselves in this predicament because of that leadership. I have not been quiet about that. And I think this is evidence of what we are seeing today with the numbers peaking. It makes no sense. That we talk about the nursing homes. It makes no sense that we talk about our testing is what it should be. We are never caught up with testing in Oklahoma. Never caught up with tracing. It has not been handled well. And I don’t know why anybody in America was told that story.”

    • June 20, 2020 at 2:51 pm

      “Sacred site, our crown jewel.”
“We’re not going to be distracted.”
      Regina Goodwin:
“Rachel I want to thank you for just shining a light on Tulsa…
Yes I was going to say to you that we stand here in the heart, their cruelty here right in the heart where our ancestors bled and died. This is really sacred ground and we consider this area really our jewel, our crown jewel. We’ve got the Greenwood Cultural Center, we’ve got the Maple Little House. We have institutions here that need to be protected. And we just ask everybody to support the keepers of our culture and our history. Generations from years ago, we draw on their strength to move us forward. And again we want just thank you. We’re going to stay focused. We’re not going to be distracted. We’re not going to be distracted. Rachel, we’re not going to be distracted.”
