Still no nationwide testing plan/contact tracing plan/enforcement plan.
    Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD):
ā€œBut it took two months after the very first outbreak for the Trump Administration on May 11th,
simply to urge residents and staff of nursing homes to be tested! And that wasn’t developing a plan to do it –
it was just WORDS saying you guys should be tested…and there is STILL no nationwide testing plan, contact tracing plan, enforcement plan.ā€
    Rachel Maddow:
ā€œThe calamity in American nursing homes will be remembered as one of our Government’s colossal and fatal screwups when the history of this epidemic is written. But it didn’t have to be this way.
Dr. David Grabowski is a leading health policy expert from Harvard Medical School :
Here is part of his testimony at that congressional hearing yesterday.”
    Dr. Grabowski:
ā€œLet me start by being blunt. COVID-19 has completely devastated U.S. nursing homes.
It didn’t have to be this way. What do I mean by that? Much of the negative impact of Covid in nursing homes could have been avoided. However, rather than prioritizing the safety of the 1.3 million individuals who live in nursing homes and the staff who care for them, we failed to invest in testing, PPE, and the workforce.
We allowed a problem that could have been contained to grow into a national crisis.ā€

Thank you Laurence Tribe for finally showing the African American community the breadth and width of your true colors, though some of us had you figured out a long time ago.

I guess if you wait long enough. I thought he was one of the good guys, but that “cosmetics” thing was too much for me especially when warren mocked Kamala Harris for wanting drumpf to be suspended from twitter each time he tweets horrific things. Tribe may have taught President Obama, but this is mind boggling and disgusting.

I see he “addressed it.” Not even close to being good enough. Maybe he should go back to sticking with commenting on “the strict interpretation of law” and not go beyond that. Anyway, I unfollowed him.

Laurence Tribe has been dragged on Twitter all day and rightfully so. Black voters saved Biden’s campaign and we are not here to be dismissed now that we have served our purpose. Hope Joe thinks carefully about his VP choice. I can see young Black voters getting disgusted to the point of not showing up at the polls.

What annoys me is that some voters might give up on Joe because of Tribe and his careless ilk. We need all the voters we can get to beat that orange blob in the WH.

And, yes, totally agree on the importance of Joe’s choice. I just feel he won’t disappoint Black voters, who helped him get there, big time!

“As The New York Times noted in 2018,
the number of police per capita has risen over the past three decades even as crime rates have plunged.
Last week, however, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that he would shave at least $100 million from his city’s law-enforcement budget. On Sunday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared he would cut police funding too. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has said he’s considering a similar move. In Milwaukee and Portland, Oregon, school districts have diverted funds used to pay police into other programs.” (politicus.usa)

      Religious right tactic:
“Portraying themselves as the defenders of cisgender women, (eg. athletes)
whose rights, they claim, will be undermined if trans women are also protected.
This tactic, unfortunately, has sucked in some cisgender women who consider themselves feminists, including J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series.”

NOAA leaders violated agency’s scientific integrity policy by backing Trump’s false statement about hurricane’s path, report finds

NOAA’s acting administrator Neil Jacobs and then-deputy chief of staff violated its scientific integrity policy through actions that led to a news release that backed President Trump’s false statement about the path of Hurricane Dorian in September 2019 — a scandal that has come to be known as ā€œSharpiegate,ā€ after Trump modified a NOAA forecast map shown in an Oval Office briefing to depict the storm threatening Alabama.
The findings of an independent panel may cloud the nomination of Jacobs for the permanent role at NOAA by showing he bowed to political pressure from Commerce Department leadership.

If humans could manage to fertilize Earth instead of making it uninhabitable, our species might actually persist for another Century, or longer.

Fact is “Earth” ain’t going away until a solar or galactic calamity occurs – and it will.

But, long, long, long before that event the current path humans are traveling, at ever greater acceleration, guarantees humans will be long rendered fertilizer, and eventually, all human garbage will be reduced to organic goo.

    Good night TOD.
