      New name…
End the old failed corrupt nomenclature (Police).
Together we will re-imagine and design a new, peaceful, equal, just, public safety system for all.
Let’s go forward with a new name.

He’ll probably want to “perform” before a crowd of his supporters. A scripted speech probably won’t get the response he wants. Therefore, he will definitely go off-script and play to his audience…Hello more campaign fodder

Watch what they do, not what they say! We have already seen what they do and have decided we don’t want him. His reading someone else’s words in a monotone will not be convincing. Maybe they plan to make some ridiculous promise people cannot resist. So be on the guard for trickery and lies. Fool me once shame on you, fool me again shame on me. Whoops! I am as bad as GW for remembering the punchline.

Brookyln Sgt. Terri Pinto Napolitano was suspended over depicting Obama lynching. Why are these right wing bigots so full of hate. I don’t want Trump hung or beaten up or kill, I want Trump voted out of the White House.

    BEYONCÉ.
    From her Commencement Speech.
    Dear Class of 2020:
“To the young women, our future leaders, know that you’re about to make the world turn. I see you.
You are everything the world needs. Make those power moves. Be excellent. And to the young kings, lean into your vulnerability and redefine masculinity. Lead with heart. There’s so many different ways to be brilliant. I believe you and every human being is born with a masterful gift. Don’t let the world make you feel that you have to
look a certain way to be brilliant. And no you don’t have to speak a certain way to be brilliant.
But you do have to spread your gift around the planet in a way that is authentically you.
To all those who feel different. If you’re part of a group that’s called ‘other,’ a group that does not get the chance to be center stage, build your own stage and make them see you. Your queerness is beautiful, your blackness is beautiful. Your compassion, your understanding, your fight for people who may be different from you, is beautiful.
I hope you continue to go into the world and show them that you will never stop being yourself.
That it’s your time now, make them see you.”

‘and giving Romney or someone else a chance to put their name in’

Hmmm. This could be a possible explanation of why Romney has become so ‘woke’. Well, in that case , for once I’d lean towards The WH Idiot’s stance. If another republican gets to run at this stage it’d very likely affect the republican votes VP Biden may get.
Shucks, I wish Greg (and DF) hadn’t planted that thought in my mind.

    Dear Class of 2020:
    Alicia Keys:
“And now all the dreams you had. You get to go out and make them real. You get to be the writer, the author of your stories, of our stories. And I just want you to know that everything that you need is right inside of you….keep on keeping at what you love, you’ll find that soon enough you will rise up, rise up, yeah, keep smiling, keep rising, keep your frequency high, keep smiling, keep working hard, keep standing up, keep showing up, keep being brilliant, don’t hold back. You gonna rise up, you gonna make it, said we’re gonna rise up, yeh, I celebrate you,
so honored, celebrate you right now, your sister Alicia Keys is right here with you, dear class of 2020 congratulations, you did it. I love you.”

    Dear Class of 2020:
    Lady Gaga:
“You are watching what is a pivotal moment in this country’s evolution.
You’re watching society change in a deeply important way….
When I looked past the rage that I feel about the systemic oppression, and physical and emotional violence that has tortured the black community endlessly, my mind turned to nature.
When I think about racism in America, I imagine a broad forest filled densely with tall trees. Trees as old as this country itself. Trees that were planted with racist seeds. Trees that grew prejudice branches and oppressive leaves and mangled roots that buried and entrenched themselves deep within the soil, forming a web so well-developed and so entangled that pushes back when we try to look clearly at how it really works. This forest is where we live, it’s who we are. It’s the moral and value system that we as a society have upheld and emboldened for centuries. I make this analogue between racism and nature in this country because it’s as pervasive and as real as nature. It is some part of everything the light touches. But in this moment, all of us are being invited to challenge that system and think about how to affect real change. I believe in my heart that the people who are going to make this change happen are listening to me speak right now. I know this is true because it is you who are the seeds of the future. You are the seeds that will grow into a new and different forest that is far more beautiful and loving than the one we live in today.”

  50. June 8, 2020 at 11:36 am

Thanks to all the leaders and organizers of ‘Dear Class of 2020’ for pointing out to our young people
that this is a moment in US history, for them to recognize it, be part of it, and help change it. Lady Gaga made the point that racism is tangled up with everything around us. Though so many have not been aware of it or acknowledged the depth and breadth of it, we are all becoming aware of it now. We will get busy creating new ethics and a new future. Thanks to everyone taking the time to educate on the front lines all possible ways.

On the warrior mindset of police:
“We’re fighting this as a war on crime. And yet here we have home field advantage. We live here, and they’re our neighbors. This is not enemies. And I’m just tired of being afraid of my neighbors.”
Officer Skinner says the cops are afraid…which leads to pushing a 75 year old man who fell backwards to the ground. He says this is NOT a war on terror, something he experienced earlier in his career.
“We’re cops, we’re not warriors. These are neighbors.”
    “Unions protect police…attacking politicians…and that is a warrior mindset…”
“Our nation needs to change the mindset of what it means to be police.”
“If you have a warrior mindset you can’t de-escalate.”

How many times did people jump the WH fence, one guy enter the White House and you never heard that President Obama went hiding in the bunker. I guess that’s the reason Trump call in the guards to clear peaceful protesters out of the way and be surrounded by 100 Secret Services as he walk to that photo-op picture in front of the church. Just to convince his self that he isn’t a coward.

Retired Lieutenant General Douglas Lute has served under 7 presidents, had senior advisory positions overseeing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan under that last two presidents, former Ambassador to NATO under PBO.
Quoted in NYT on Friday saying:
“There a thin line between the military’s tolerance for questionable partisan moves over the past 3 years, and the point where these become intolerable for an apolitical military. Relatively minor episodes have accumulated imperceptibly, but we’re now at a point where real damage is being done.”

    • June 8, 2020 at 1:49 pm

      RACHEL MADDOW:
“Something has clearly shifted in recent days among former high ranking military officials, including yourself, not just the willingness to criiticize the president…but also giving us sort of stark warnings about how bad things are. Why did you reach this point this week?
      LT. GENERAL LUTE:
“I think they’ve done a number of incremental, steady, erosions of the military’s relationship with the president, where civil military relations writ large, only three and a half years of the Trump Administration —
I mean this began very early, in the first week of the Trump Administration when he went to the place in the Pentagon, which is designated for commemorating Medal Of Honor winners. And it was there that he chose to sign the immigration ban against Muslims. He has repeatedly used troop visits, which all presidents do, but he has used troop visits as campaign rallies. He has diverted both troops and funding from the Pentagon to his border wall project. And these are all indicators that the norms between presidential leadership, and the way the military sees itself as an apolitical institution in America,
have been steadily encroached upon. This week however is different.”

    • June 8, 2020 at 1:51 pm

      LT. GENERAL LUTE:
“And that’s simply because we saw the prospect, or the hint, that American active duty soldiers might brought into the streets of America and confront American citizens peacefully protesting, but posed as more of a combat situation. And for military leaders that’s unacceptable. And that’s why you see this long list of very impressive former military leaders and officers now stepping forward to include Jim Mattis, Marty Dempsey, John Allen, and so forth.”

    • June 8, 2020 at 1:56 pm

      RACHEL MADDOW;
“Do we the American people have a right to know about those internal fights…if the civilian leadership of the military or military leaders themselves are being given orders that are in their view wrong or potentially illegal, is the right thing for them to do to tell us about them, or is there something you do within the power structure, within the chain of command that we may never see as the public?”
      LT. GENERAL LUTE:
He asserts there are some things that are held in confidence in the Oval Office and Situation Room.
“But actions often Rachel, speak much louder than words.
So when you had the National Security team in tow behind the president, walking across Lafayette Square just across the street from the White House, after that square had been heavy handedly dispersed or dismissed of peaceful protesters. In that scene they stepped across the line. So that action, whatever deliberations happened behind closed doors, that action spoke I think louder than words.
(He acknowledges that Millie and Esper later attempted to correct the record and reminders about the Constitution.) But I think the damage that was done on Monday sparked this outflow of responses from retired military.”

    ALI VELSHI:
“Is it ever a great day for a dead man? A man who died after Minneapolis police officer pinned his neck to the ground and choked him for 8 minutes and 46 seconds?”
